Description Elafonisi villas - Livadia: The villas is located in the seaside village of Livadia, Keramoti bay, Innahorion, in the south western part of Crete, at a distance of 72 km from Chania and 31 km from Kissamos. The villa can be accessed through a 4 km long road that is connected to the regional provincial road. The village is located in the middle of the European hiking path E4– a seaside route of exceptional natural beauty- that starts at the village of Kambos and continues through the villages of Keramoti, Livadia, Chryssoskalitissa and Elafonisi. The route is typical of the rugged beauty of Crete with amazing changes of the scenery between olive and locust trees and sea-beaten rocks of black and red volcanic lava-In the village of Livadia, buying food is still done in the traditional way – you may buy fish from the fishermen in the small harbour, vegetables, dairy products and meat from the farmers, but you will also find three small taverns.
The west coast of Crete,: all the way from Mpallos and Falasarna till Sfinari, Livadia, Elafonisi in Kissamos until the Krios peninsula in Paleohora, has managed to remain intact despite the passing of time and to have many parts of it included in European Union programmes for the protection of nature. The coastline continues for many kilometres sprinkled with amazing beaches and quiet fishing villages. A few meters higher up in the mountains, mountainous villages pass the time gazing into the infinity of the African sea. Time goes by very slowly up her. Just about in the middle of the west coast, in the village of Livadia, we built the first residence, which was followed by all the rest, with the last two being funded by European Union through Hellenic Ministry of Rural Development and Food programmes for the development of agrotourism. Our concept has been based on notions like luxury, simplicity, natural beauty, ecological conscience, environmental respect.
This concept inspired the construction of dreamy retreats, residences with unique architectural design destined for special people who have seen and tried just about everything and now seek privacy, comfortable and luxurious relaxation in an enchanting setting that guarantees absolute enjoyment. It is a combination of adventure and return to nature at the same time...You can swim in secluded beaches, walk alone and barefoot on the sand and pebbles of the beach, enjoy the rugged beauty of the Cretan landscape on hiking tracks, taste traditional dishes in small local taverns in beautiful villages scattered around this area, savour wine and tsikoudia in the company of locals, go fishing and, weather permitting of course, enjoy a small trip on a speed boat in a search of secluded beaches. Guestbook comments from the owner
During the early summer of 2012, form July 7 to 14, we stayed in villa Neptune, in Livadia with our three teenage children. The villa itself was marvelous and well-cared for, situated on a rock (or small cape) rising out of the sea. We had a stunning view of the coastline, the village of Livadia and surrounding hills from the terrace and out of the pool. Everything in the villa was arranged to make us feel comfortable and at home, leaving us the option to cook (or barbeque) instead of eating out. The villa was taken care of by Gregory, who was highly reliable and helpful. Despite what some of us might think because of the economic situation in Greece, we had un-interrupted access to electricity, internet, water (hot and cold). We had lunch and dinner in various places in the neighborhood or returning from the beach at Elafonisi. Without exception, we felt welcome guests and everyone we met was helpful and seemed to appreciate our visit. We shopped for regular groceries in Kissamos (about 30 km’s away), where we also met locals who despite their economic worries showed us their Greek hospitality. We will certainly return in the near future and highly recommend this part of Crete and villa Neptune to anyone interested to spend a unique vacation in relative luxury.
