Could have been so much better.

  • 2 of 5

We have rented other apartments in London, Rome, and Dublin and so we know what to expect. This apartment was expensive and we thought it would be worth the price but it is not well maintained. Everything that was mentioned in the review written in May of 2012 is true - I wished I had believed the reviewer and not the response from the owner. The apartment needs to be painted (or at the very least, the walls and doors washed), the carpet is full of stains in the bedrooms and threadbare going from the kitchen to the hallway. The furniture in the living room is worn and dirty - as are all the seat covers on the kitchen chairs. The black book that is mentioned contains some store and restaurant recommendations and has a handful of guests comments...not loads as stated!! There are two little lamps in the master bedroom but no plug or extension cord to plug one into so you can not use it. There is wallpaper in the bedrooms and bathroom and in spots it is starting to peel away from the wall. There is a dishwasher but no soap and while it is not uncommon to have to supply these, it would have been nice to know that we needed to get some as well as additional toilet paper and no towels or dish rags in the kitchen. There are no hooks in the smaller bathroom for towels and in the bigger bathroom there are hooks on the back of the door but again hard to hang towels for 6 people and try to get dry!

The apartment is in a good location and if these issues were addressed would be a great place to stay.

Great location, nice apartment

  • 5 of 5

We made this apartment our home base for a week, for two adults and two kids (10 & 13 years old), while we toured the sites of Paris. It was only a few minutes walk to the Grand Boulevards metro station, a 25 minute walk to the Louvre, and had many restaurants and shopping opportunities all around. The apartment itself was clean, well equipped with dishes, basic appliances, and seating for 6 in the living room and around the kitchen table. We loved the fact that we could open the windows wide to allow fresh air to flow through - a life saver on those hot days in July. Wireless internet access was available, although it was very weak, and only worked within 10 feet or so of the router. (That was actually a benefit for us - it kept the kids from texting all night long from their bedrooms!) The lift is a bit small - OK for three people or one or two people and a suitcase, so we had to take a few trips up and down on arrival and departure to get all the luggage. Not a big deal, really. Communication with Sam was good - she replied within a few days to a number of inquiries before arriving. On the bookshelf was a variety of books, movies, tourist info, and her helpful "black book" with past visitor comments, recommended restaurants, phone number for the taxi, etc. All in all, a very satisfied customer!

Fantastic apartment, unbeatable location...

  • 5 of 5

Me and my family (6 people in total) stayed in Samantha's apartment for 6 days. Everything was as promised. In the first place we were met at the entrance to the apartment at an agreed time and shown to the apartment with a quick tour of the facilities.

Although space was limited for our larger group it was more than adequate. The location is perfect and within walking distance from several tourist attractions like, the Louvre, the Opera and Galeries La Fayette. For shopping you have no need to go anywhere else.

The closest Metro is "Grand Boulevards" and the entrance is probably less than 200m from the apartment.

We found several good restaurants in the area. Samantha's recommended Gallopin and it was so good we went there twice. It has a lovely intimate atmosphere and the service is excellent.

We will definitely make use of this apartment whenever we visit Paris again.

Wonderful Christmas Vacation in Paris!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sam's place in the heart of Paris with 3 small children aged, 6, 3 and 5 months old. We stayed there for 6 nights and was sad to leave without seeing any snow. Sam's description of the place was very accurate and the location was the best. We walked to the Louvre almost every day and was able to get on a hop on/hop off bus from Hard Rock Cafe just across the street. Sam's place was clean enough but we had to move some furniture around the studio to make enough space for all 5 of us. Even tho the studio was small it was cozy enough and we enjoyed our stay. Also on our last day Sam allowed us to check out late due to our late flight and having a baby. She accommodated every needs we had and was even willing to make an appointment with her doctor when i became ill for a day!

When/if we go back to Paris, we'll definitely stay at Sam's place again. Thanks Sam, for such a wonderful experience in Paris!

Note: The place we stayed was a studio, not this 3 bedroom place described above. not sure if Sam took it off the listing?

Could be great but isn't

  • 2 of 5

This apartment could be great, but it misses the mark on several fronts.

The good stuff:

It is an excellent location, and it is bright with good daylight. It is large enough for six people. Beds ok.

The hot water is good and the only shower has good water pressure and the water stays hot.

The washer/dryer and appliances all work. The lift works, but is very small, 3 people max.

The bad stuff:

This apartment is VERY sparsely furnished and equipped. The dining table seats 6, not 8. There is a sofa for three and one chair in the living room (the white chair in the pix is not there). The LR furniture is dirty and on its last legs. If you have more than 4 people you must move straight chairs from the dining table or sit on the floor.

The master br has a decent wardrobe for hanging clothes and it has shelves. One of the twin brs has a smaller wardrobe for hanging things, but no useable shelves. The third br has no closet; it is outside the door. There is NO other furniture except 2 end tables in the master br, one night table in the second br, and one straight chair (no night table) in the third br. That means nowhere to sit but on the beds, nowhere to put luggage but on the floor, and since there are no drawers or shelves for clothing except in the master br, you are living out of your suitcase on the floor. Two short lamps unsuitable for anything but nightlights in the master, one in br 2, and none anywhere else. Except for the kitchen and mbr, lighting at night is dim. The carpet in the apartment is dirty and frayed. The walls are scuffed, there is dirt around doorknobs and on woodwork. The whole place needs paint.

No concierge as advertised, cleaning fee does not include a midweek cleaning. Internet connection undependable.

While the kitchen has adequate tableware and dishes, there are NO kitchen utensils. No spatula, tongs, cheese grater, bread knife, etc. or any other utensils, period. No tablecloth, napkins, dishwasher soap, detergent. Bring anything you consume, including salt and pepper. No backup supplies like toilet paper.

8 towels, dingy and worn. No hand towels or washcloths. Nowhere to hang towels except the top of doors or 3 hooks (for 6 people) on back of bathroom door where they won't get dry.

This apt. is not suitable for six adults with standards for comfort. Would work ok for 2 parents and kids or college crowd if you can overlook the dirty furn, carpet,& walls, and don't want to cook.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

This was a fantastic place. The owners were very helpful and provided us with a wealth of information. Location could not be any better. Close to everything with easy access to metro. We were five adults, the accommodation was very comfortable and the owners were delightful.
