Overview

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Lorgues - Rustic farmhouse apartment

Cool thick stone walled apartment, safe and perfect for children to run around.

This lovely, cosy farmhouse apartment is on the ground floor of the house and looks out on fields of vineyards and hills. The pool is just a skip and a hop from the front door over the stoned terrace, where there is a large outside dining table in the shade of the medlar tree, there is also dining underneath the lilac trees in the garden to the side of the house. There are two bedrooms, one double bedroom at the front of the house with french doors onto the terrace and also a door through o the kitchen. The second bedroom is at the back with a patio and french windows, this bedroom has two single beds for adults or children and has a view across the lavender into the vineyards beyond. This bedroom is great for children and is ensuite with the airy bathroom, which has a jacuzzi bath and walk in Italian shower. The occupants of the front bedroom have to walk through the back bedroom to get to the bathroom.

The pool is shared but you will find you are left alone when you are by the pool we only use it when you are not using it we care for your privacy. We also have another pretty independent barn apartment on the property, property number 1723066 if you want to come with a few more family or friends.

Sight seeing: Our local area is full of interesting and beautiful sights to see, from historic buildings for example L'Abaye de Thoronet which is not only maginificent in itself, but also has wonderful musical soirees, then of course there are the vineyard and the wine tasting, most of the vinyards have art exhibitions during the summer, so each trip is an interesting one. We have beautiful streams and rivers, plunge pools and canoeing on the river Argens. Amazing waterfalls at Seillans en Cascade. The famous ceramic tiles of Salernes are a must to see the potteries are such fun. ou can white water raft at Castellane, laze by the lake at the lac St Croix and canoe or pedallo up and down the Gorges du Verdon, one of the most fantastic places nearby.

Then there are the beaches, not far only 35 minutes, the sea is warm and the beaches are sand and pebble. There are great coastal walks, around St Tropez and amazing beaches near to le Lavandou. The lavender fields in June are spectacular as are the poppies in may and the vines in autumn. You will never be bored there is so much to see and do.

Art and Food: Tessa Nelson is both a professional chef and artist, she teaches cooking and painting, and if you are interested in a provencale cookery lesson or a watercolour lesson in the garden please ask in advance of your stay here and it can be arranged.

About Tessa and David Nelson

We are Tessa and David Nelson, we met when David was a captain on the boats and I was a chef on a sailing yacht. David is now a carpenter and I am an artist and a chef. We both grew up in England although David has lived here since he was 19 and I have lived abroad for most of my adult life.

We love it here and have a small boat we go out on, and when David's son Jack is with us we go canyoning, kayaking, canoeing and all sorts, there is so much to do here. I am currently teaching water colour classes and painting trips in provence.

If you would like to know more about the Water Colour Trips please visit my site: www.paint-provence.com. Or if you would like cooking or art lessons on your stay here let me know and we can organise something.

Tessa and David Nelson purchased this apartment in 1990

Why Tessa and David Nelson chose Lorgues

This is an unique apartment full of country charm, friendly, our property is unspoiled the original provencal building, I think this is why we love it so much, it is authentic and endearing. The nearby views of endless hills and mountains are breathtaking. We live near to the beautiful river Argens which is delicious to swim in in the heat of the summer or go canoeing for the day on with a picnic. We are only 40 minutes drive from the spectacular Gorges du Verdun, and as I am an artist and painting outside is my favourite thing to do, fields of lavender, poppies and summer promise are my idea of pure bliss, not to mention the fabulous produce you can get in the markets. Fresh costs cheese and plump tomatoes with basil and local olives. Olive groves all around for that matter, delicious local olive oil. Fabulous vineyards and wine tastings. I fell in love with this area in 1985 when I first came to the South of France and here we are still.

What makes this apartment unique

The property is so pretty, being surrounded by nature and calm is just wonderful. The village is not far and it is fun to cycle there. It is very private and we are not disturbed by anyone.

  • 5 of 5

This is our second stay with David and Tessa, we had vowed we would return and it was just a great as before, homely and comfortable. the views over the vinyards are beautiful and there is lots to explore in this part of the Var. We hope to come back soon.

Authentic French countryside

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. The apartment is spacious and makes you feel at home at once. The owners are very nice and helpful. Beautiful medieval villages nearby (Lorgues, Aups, Cotignac). The farmhouse is also ideally situated for a daytrip to the spectacular Gorges du Verdon. I would recommed this place for people who enjoy authentic French country living, but not for people seeking luxury.

Rustic charm

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, old farmhouse, set quietly between vineyards, where children can roam freely, swimming in the pool, chasing chickens or just making friends with the faithful Labrador. Adults too can enjoy the peaceful serenity (children permitting of course!) David and Tess are excellent hosts, mindful of your privacy should you desire it, but attentive and very welcoming. Nearby Lorgues is a pretty town, full of character and with the best market in the area and the surrounding countryside provides a range of activities from canoeing to wine tasting, to cater for all family tastes. If you’re seeking a piece of old-fashioned, rustic France, unmanicured, relaxed and charmingly artistic (Tessa’s beautiful paintings line the walls of the farmhouse), this is for you.

Holiday in Provence

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Lorges. Tess and David made us very welcome and were very helpful in giving us practical advice for places to visit, eat and dine. The cottage was very traditional in it's style and true to the photo's. The children especially enjoyed the swimming pool and the chickens that roam the garden. It is close to the town, but far enough away to be very peaceful. We would recommend it to others for a relaxing holiday in Provence.

Couldnt have asked for more.

We have had 3 amazing weeks in this little piece of heaven.  We are a family with 2 small children under 4 and it was perfect.  Loads of safe space for the kids to run about. There is an area at the back of the house we used as a sandpit.  The pool is totally fenced and safe.  It has an area that provides shallow steps for the kids to play in the water and a lovely shaded area for them to amuse themselves while you can sunbathe and swim.  The house is lovely and cool and has all the essentials required for a perfect holiday, and yet provides all the modern essentials such as wifii and tv (with access to uk tv). The setting is stunning, looking out over the vines one side, and the other a rustic country setting complete with two very friendly chickens.

Ruhig gelegen in ländlicher Idylle

  • 5 of 5
