Overview

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in Little Chart - Our Granary Cottage

Delightful cottage forming part of a Wealden farmstead beside a village green.

This quintessential village green, locally known as The Forstal, with its cricket pitch, secluded pond, surrounded by beautiful houses, where the renowned author H.E. Bates wrote 'The Darling Buds of May' and many other novels. In the words of Pop Larkin it is 'perfick'.

Our Granary has recently been refurbished while retaining its rustic appeal with exposed timbers, oak and pine doors, ragstone walls and cosy furnishings. The downstairs room is open plan with a well equipped kitchen and living/dining area. There is a double sofa bed in the living room. Glazed doors lead out to a flagstone terrace overlooking a BBQ and sitting area.

The upper floor is accessed via a spiral staircase leading to a spacious main bedroom with a king size bed, fitted cupboards and a dressing table. There are wonderful views over the typical English garden. Adjacent is a separate shower room with facilities.

If tranquility is what you seek then this is your location.

No smoking.

Suitability:
  • children welcome
  • non smoking only
  • pets not allowed
  • wheelchair inaccessible

Guestbook comments from the owner

Since two weeks we are back home- and every day we are talking about the nice days at your beautiful cottage and garden- and not to forget about the nice time with both of you and Harry and Jack.

Thank you so much for the days and your warm welcome.

Special thanks for the perfect birthday-party. It was wonderful to celebrate in these surroundings.

PERFICK!-A WONDERFUL WEEK

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a very comfortable and tranquil week at the Granary. From contacting Netta regarding availability to confirmation, sending information-comunication was excellent-and the welcome when we arrived was warm.

The property was as described and very clean with an unexpected welcome pack of tea, coffee, bread, milk, juice etc-in fact everything that was needed even to cleaning materials. We had a great weeks sleep in a lovely large bed, the view from the bedroom into the large garden was great, we saw sunrise and sunset. The bathroom large and all the features retained of a renovated granary-sympatheticaly done but modern and comfortable.

We were able to visit English Heritage and National Trust properties in the area of which there are loads. A visit to France via Channel Tunnel 30 minutes away-the route being very easy.

We were able to wander around the area and for serious walkers there were 40 mile walks.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and we found them very hospitable.

We would and indeed have recomended The Granary to friends and we enjoyed it so much we hope to rebook for next year when work holidays are confirmed.

Thank you Netta and Bob for a lovely week.

A beautiful, cozy, comfortable cottage.

  • 5 of 5

Our family of two adults and two seven-year-olds loved the cottage! Bob and Netta were kind, generous, thoughtful hosts who went out of their way to provide privacy and enjoyment for us. The boys enjoyed the pool throughout our stay, and we all appreciated the gardens and idyllic setting. We enjoyed pub meals in Pluckley and many beautiful walks on the North Downs Way. The cottage was well supplied and designed, and our hosts were very helpful with information and advice. We highly recommend this beautiful cottage for anything from a romantic getaway to a family vacation. Exquisite!

Beautiful location and welcoming hosts

  • 5 of 5

What a terrific time we had staying in The Granary at Forstal Farmhouse. The accommodation was so nice. It was quiet and seemed so far from everywhere, but road and rail transportation was close at hand. We toured all around south eastern Kent and were never more than about an hour from home. Netta and Bob were fabulous hosts and made us feel welcome from start to finish. It really is a stunning location and I'm sure we'll be back for another visit on our next trip to England.

Weekend away

  • 5 of 5

My husband, 6 month old daughter and I have just spent a lovely weekend at The Granary. Netta and Bob made us feel very welcome. The cottage is well equipped (including a cot), very clean and the few staples left for us was a lovely touch. I particularly loved the fresh flowers! We spent a day driving around the pretty countryside and visited Leeds castle which was a good day outing. We hope to return when the weather is warmer so that we can enjoy the loving outside area.

A beautiful week in The Granary

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in the beautiful Granary.

Netta and Bob did their utmost to make us feel comfortable. The property was clean, well maintained and very cosy. The garden is a beautiful example of an English country garden, where you can have a nice walk or a place in the shadow.

The location is perfect for visiting historic places, castles and their amazing gardens.

We certainly come back and recommend it to everyone coming to Kent.
