About this property

Escape the SW Desert heat in our Large air conditioned adobe home at 6000'

Also ask about long term rates (30+ days). This house was built in 1979 before green was in vogue. It is at 6000' elevation which provides 4 gentle seasons in the Southwest. The location on the south edge of the city limits provides convenient access to all the amenities of the town and the isolation of quiet, country living.

We would be glad to discuss our RATES and answer any other questions prior to booking. 6 adults is our recommended maximum occupancy for this home.

This 2 bedroom, 2 bath home was updated from a family home to a rental with a unique and eclectic southwestern flavor. More recently the kitchen was remodeled with all new appliances.

The master bedroom is extremely large, has two queen beds, a sofa and a separate library. The second bedroom has two twin beds. The large living room has two seating areas. The dining room is set to seat 8 people but could accommodate more. A separate breakfast area is adjacent to the well-furnished, newly upgraded kitchen. The very private setting includes two outdoor seating areas with views of the property and distant mountains.

Wonderful sunrises
My wife and I had a wonderful time at this property. The weather and location were perfect. We really enjoyed the house. Even though it cooled off at night the floor remained warm and comfortable. Silver City has many things to see and do. Our only regret was having to go home and back to the minus zero temps.

Amazing getaway with all the comforts of your own home and picturesque views
My husband and I recently moved to Silver and before finding a permanent home we rented this wonderful spacious adobe home for 5 months. This home came will all the comforts of our home now, allowing us to store most of our belongings and bringing only personal essentials. The kitchen is completely stocked with all the essentials to make a 5 course meal for up to 10 + people. The living room has a multitude of seating and looks out to breathtaking views of the many acres of land on this property. The bedrooms have new memory foam mattresses, which now have made us a converter, very comfortable. There is plenty of closet space and room to move about in this home. Everything from a bedroom reading nook to an enclosed patio. The home has amazing southwestern artwork throughout, bringing in the culture of this area. During the warm temps, the house stays as cool as you want it with multiple windows throughout the home. During the chilliest nights the comfort of solar heating and copper heating throught the home can keep you as warm as possible. Hiking and biking is very accessible, whether it be on the property or nearby (<0.5 mi) boston hill area with many biking/hiking trails. The rental is right on the outskirts of town, takes a mere 5 min drive to enjoy the many local restaurants that Silver has to offer. Whether your looking for a weekend getaway or an extended stay this rental is a definite.

About the host

Hosted by Rick

Host profile image
This is first built of 4 family homes that are on this property. Brothers-in-law David and Rick did the majority of the construction in the early years and oversaw the recently remodeled kitchen. Sisters-in-law Lee and Alice oversee the decorations and traveler-friendly amenities.

Why they chose this property

This is a large 2800 square foot home. While it can sleep 6 people, there are enough separate areas to find alone time. The passive solar adobe features of this home make it a truly green experience. With an altitude of 6000', our climate is moderated to 4 gentle seasons. No unbearable summer desert heat and no extreme winters but it does snow.

What makes this property unique

Quiet, country living close to town. The family property of over 125 acres allows guests to take enjoyable walks (or easy hikes) to observe the native plants and wildlife, enjoy birding, or fabulous stargazing. Walking trails nearby include the city-owned Boston Hill open space, the Continental Divide Trail with multiple access points, and the Fort Bayard forest preserve.
