Dundrum is a small village located on Dundrum Bay, at the foot of the Mourne Mountains. This area is recognised as both an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one of the finest places on the island of Ireland to see a wonderful range of wildlife. Within 10 minutes drive there is an extensive range of activities, whatever your age or interests, including Golf at the world famous Royal County Down golf course, (a mere 5 minutes away); horse riding, both in the forests surrounding the area as well as exhilarating beach rides; and of course, with such a stunning mountain range, hill walkers are spoilt for choice. However, if you are looking to unwind, then look no further. It’s peaceful location and stunning views encourage you to switch off your Blackberry, unplug the TV and simply watch the fantastic display of sea bird acrobatics, seals bobbing past your window and the ever changing landscape created by the ebb and flow of the twice daily tide – all from the comfort of your balcony.

Golf: Royal County Down is one of the oldest Golf Clubs in Ireland with traditions dating back for more than one hundred years. Situated in Newcastle, where in the immortal words of Percy French, 'The Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea', Royal County Down is not only a fine test of golf but has accompanying scenery that is spellbinding.

Alongside the Championship Links, Royal County Down has a second course, The Annesley Links. Laid out beneath the same massive, almost menacing backdrop, the Annesley Links is nowhere near as intimidating or as formidable a challenge as the Championship Links, but then it was never intended to be. It is a course for everyone.

Relaxing stay with a fabulous view

We wanted a relaxing few days just to chill and that is exactly what we got. Unfortunately we were only there for two nights, we could have easily stayed longer.
We were greeted by Lisa who also left some biscuits and refreshments which were welcomed after our journey. A really nice touch.
The apartment was lovely, really clean and well equipped. The view however made it. The apartment overlooked Dundrum Bay with a view of the Mourne Mountains. The mountains were covered in snow from our unexpected spring snowfall - beautiful. Dundrum Castle us a short walk away with more fantastic views. If you like scenery this is the place to be.
The Bucks Head Inn and Dundrum Inn are both within walking distance and serve delicious food.
Overall a really enjoyable stay

We arrived on one of the wettest nights this year to a lovely bubbly Lisa. After showing us all the details, equipment and features we had a lovely cosy night in the warmth of this apartment. When we woke next morning the full 'wow' factor hit us from the views. The wonderful wild and wind swept view was simply fabulous.
A great weekend for the family seeking out the history and places of interest. I could not recommend this accommodation highly enough and dealing with Andrea was simply a pleasure. Thank you for allowing us to share your apartment.
Owner's Response: Hi Geraldine,

We're delighted you enjoyed Dundrum and the apartment so much. We agree with you about the "wow" factor when you first look out over the bay and towards the mountains.

It was our pleasure to have you to stay and we'd love to welcome you back, should you wish to return to the area.

Dundrum

It was the perfect place to stay to see Northern Ireland, not forgetting the most beautiful changing sea views from every room in the appartment. Visiting Giants Causeway and the northern coast was an easy day's trip, while on the doorstep we enjoyed both forrest and nature reserve walks. National Trust properties and gardens including Castle Ward, Mount Stewart and Patterson's Spade Mill satisfied various interests, and so with the Titanic Experience in Belfast we became more informed about the history of Northern Ireland.
We so enjoyed the local fish restraunt just around the corner - had we been more organised we might have booked to eat there every evening, but we lived in hope that one evening would be warm enough to eat out on our balcony.
I have already recommended it to friends as a place to stay, but on one condition, that it's not a week when I want to return!

As you open the door into the apartment your eyes are drawn through the hall and lounge to the large patio window looking out over the bay - what a wonderful view!

This is a lovely apartment in a beautiful corner of Northern Ireland with lots to see and do in the surrounding area. You will not forget your time here!

This apartment was absolutely excellent. As seasoned 'self caterers' we have experienced all manner of properties and this ranks among the best. Everything was available in the apartment you could possibly need. Even on dull days the views were fabulous.

Dundrum is blessed with 2 great restaurants, serving excellent food at good prices so we didn't end up self catering very much!

We walked for miles during the week as this part of Ireland has many good places to explore and are really accessible with good paths. We would recommend the Silent Valley and Ben Crom Dam, Tolleymore Forest Park and Castlewellan.

A seaweed bath in Newcastle ensures no aching limbs after all the walking!

The most significant thing about the whole area was the incredible courtesy shown by everyone we met. We were given really useful advice and information and made to feel welcome by everyone we met.

Our only regret is that we only had a week there....but we will return!
