Twickenham Apartment next to Richmond
The apartment had some modern elements, but was not "stunning". However, the view of the Thames from all apartment windows made up for any less modern elements and we had plenty of room. The wifi was efficient for work and the kitchen appliances were great. We were close to shops and public transportation, but the train's last stop from London was Richmond, where we picked up bus service. We spent many hours on public transportation getting to the sites we wanted to visit. If money is no object, a London apartment would be more convenient and less tiring at the end of the day. However, the upside to being outside the city was the quiet country feel of the neighborhood and local people who know the area. Because of them, we were able to find "Arthur's on the Green" in Twickenham, a little restaurant that was recommended to us. It turned out to be an easy walk from the apartment and the food was delicious! All in all, it was a restful place to stay.
Tourists without a Car
Owner's Response: Oh dear, unfortunately you seem to have been catching the wrong train! There is indeed a very frequent direct train (not underground) from central London to Twickenham taking only 20 minutes, and it is only a short walk from Twickenham station to the apartment. As you say, you can take a tube to Richmond and then the bus but this is much less convenient. Still, I am glad you seem to have had a pleasant stay on the whole and enjoyed the peace that the apartment affords after a busy day in London.
