Our home is truly conducive for simply relaxing and enjoying the natural surroundings and views. We built this large 2,300 square foot custom home to enjoy the western sunsets and natural surroundings. It has beautiful hand scraped solid hardwood floors throughout, and has modern amenities combined with a touch of old reclaimed accents.
Our home features a large, fully equipped entertainment kitchen, with modern appliances, and a lot of granite countertop space and a large central oak table for cooking preparation and gathering. There is also a convenient laundry closet with a washer and dryer.
The great room has 16' vaulted ceilings with a large ceiling fan, Plasma TV and DVD player above the fireplace mantle and a collection of classic and modern DVDs, a rustic stone wood burning fireplace, a built-in bookcase with a selection of books, and a dining area. French doors lead to the outside deck with a built in barbeque island, and stunning views overlooking the western horizon, great for gatherings and viewing the spectacular sunsets.
There are four large, roomy bedrooms. The master bedroom includes a king size bed, a beautiful wood burning raised fireplace adding to the peaceful ambiance, French doors leading to the deck outside and more views of the horizon, and a TV and DVD player. The master bathroom includes luxuries such as a spa tub, a large separate Travertine shower with a frameless glass enclosure, and Travertine floors and tile. The second bedroom includes a queen size bed, with access to deck and views. The third bedroom includes two twin beds, and has mountain views. The shared bathroom is Country French with a claw foot tub and marble floors. The fourth bedroom is a large private studio upstairs above the den and is 500 square feet with a separate full bathroom. The studio includes two double beds, couch, chair and dinette, and a small kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave and sink.
The living room, master bedroom and second bedroom open onto the expansive deck. The deck includes a built in barbeque island, and below the deck is a large circular flagstone patio with a fire pit in the center, great for gatherings and star gazing (please note that fire restrictions may apply during dry seasons).
During the summer months the temperature is usually moderate, however the home includes central air conditioning if needed, and is also equipped with central heating for cold winter days.
We are a family of seven, with extended family in three states, and we have a very very busy lifestyle. We look forward to getting away and simplifying our lives, even for just a short time on extended weekends. Hiking, searching for old relics or interesting rocks, and taking in the sights recharges us to tackle our routines back home.
Loran Kraljevski purchased this house in 2006
We bought this property because we fell in love with the wide open spaces of northern Arizona, the wonders of the Grand Canyon and other local surroundings and destinations, and the old-fashioned charm of Williams and route 66.
We built the home to capture the fantastic westward sunset views, and to provide a place for our large family to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily routines, and gather together in a simpler environment.
Although all of the rooms are large, we wanted to make the home feel cozy, so we added custom finishing touches throughout the house. Our favorite features in the living area are the stone fireplace, built-in bookcase, and reclaimed wood beam accents and other reclaimed features.
To bring character to the modern kitchen, we added a custom-built stove hood, reclaimed light fixtures, and a 10' long antique table reclaimed from an old church that we now use as an island for cooking preparation or just simply to gather around.
We added an old-fashined reclaimed claw foot tub into the guest bathroom, and decorated with a touch of old country French style.
The master bedroom includes a fireplace accented with reclaimed tile and wood. Wood moldings, wood windows, solid wood doors, and wood floors throughout the house add to the cozy charm that we wanted to achieve.
Had a fantastic time at this home. We were traveling with two families and 3 kids between us. The home met our needs well- the kitchen was spacious, stocked, and well suited for meal prep, plenty of room to move around, and a great deck. Sunset meals had great views, and a peaceful early morning cup of coffee before the kids awoke was a real treat. We found the home well situated for day trips to Sedona, Flagstaff, and the Grand Canyon. The house is a few miles down a series of gravel roads, but that gave my 4 year old a chance to count all the rabbits that scampered in front of us (26 in three evenings). Oh, and we were also pleased that we didn't overlook Williams- we went in for a night, and it was a cute little town with some fun restaurants and shops. Would recommend the home and surrounding area to anyone looking to enjoy that part of our country.
Just returned from a shared stay between two families- four adults and three children. We were quite satisfied with our choice of this home, as it had everything we could have asked for. The kitchen was well-suited for working together to prepare meals, and dining on the deck as the the sun set was a real treat. Cup of coffee first thing in the morning as the sun rose and the kids slept- perfect. Clean and spacious- there was not much to complain about. I know some other reviews found a flaw here or there, but it is a home to be lived in- we would not expect perfection! The house is a bit of way down several dirt roads, but this gave our daughter a chance to count all the jackrabbits we spotted each time! We found the home to be well positioned for our planned trips to the GC, Sedona, and Flagstaff. Also, don't ignore the town of Williams itself- it was cute and had a couple of easy dining options.
We had a lovely trip. The home was roomy and accommodating for our 7 people. While it was certainly clean enough to enjoy, it does have the dust and cobwebs up high and down low that you would expect of home on a dirt road on a mountainside. A few details would have made it feel even cleaner (dirty soap dish in bathroom, grease splatters on stovetop, trash in bottom of kitchen garbage can). I was also disappointed the jetted tub had a "Do Not Use" sign on it (probably should not advertise this if it is unusable for whatever reason). We received an email from the owner a day before our departure apologizing and notifying us that the microwave was broken, but that they would "see if there was any solution [they] could come up with over the next few days." We did not hear back from them the entire week of our stay, but we found a microwave located upstairs in one of the other rooms, so we were able to use that when needed. The kitchen was fairly well-stocked with cooking supplies for our larger group, but I did purchase a larger nonstick skillet pan (which I left there). We tried to do a puzzle on the table in the den, but found the lighting was only adequate when the blinds were open and the sun was up. Tried to plug in a lamp nearby, but the outlets did not work. Also something to be aware of is that the owner recommends bringing your own bottled water for drinking. We planned a lot of hiking during our week, so we ended up going through a lot of water bottles, and the grocery store is a good 25 minutes away. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation! Loved the beautiful wood floors, and especially the peace and solitude!
House was perfect for my family and great location! Owner's communication was amazing; very quick to respond to any question. The view from the deck was spectacular, especially for what ended up being a white Christmas! Would definitely rent again!
My family and I had a great time at the house. There was plenty of room for everyone. I especially liked the kitchen. There was so much stuff in the pantry and frig that we didn't need so much from the store. Although it is a bit out of the way (gravel road and no street/road signs) we enjoyed the quiet and the views.
Way better the the description and the pictures! The owners communicated excellently and the house was in outstanding condition. There was lots of nice amenities like firewood, shampoo, etc that made our stay very comfortable. Beautiful house with a great view. We would definitely rent again!!!
Our hidden gem is situated on 6 acres in the Northern Arizona High Country near Williams, AZ, off of highway 64 (the road to the Grand Canyon). When you turn off highway 64, you enter onto a country gravel road and for the next 1.5 mile drive to our home, you might see elk, deer, free range horses, javalina, coyotes, jack rabbits, and other wildlife that remind you that you're in the beautiful Arizona high country and are surrounded by nature.
When you approach our home on the hill, you will be able to see for miles across the westward horizon. Then step inside the home to a bit of rustic luxury.
Our home is centrally located to the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and Williams. Williams is located about 20 minutes away on the famous route 66 and has a variety of diners, restaurants and shops. Williams is also the home of Bearizona, the Deer Farm, and the Grand Canyon railway station
The Grand Canyon Railway offers the classic steam train to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, the Pumpkin Patch train in October, and Polar Express in the winter. The south rim of the Grand Canyon is only 40 miles north on highway 64. Flagstaff, home of Northern Arizona University, is 25 miles East. Also nearby is Sedona with red rock scenery and hiking trails. And the Snow Bowl ski resort is nearby for winter snow skiing.
If you want to venture further, you can visit the old mining town of Jerome, or the historical town of Prescott. Or, if you would prefer to stay close to home, you can fish and canoe on Kaibob Lake just 15 minutes from the property, hike in the surrounding area, and view sunsets and star-filled nights off the expansive deck.
