athmosphere-activities: La Sisampe is a very nice place to relax in the morning , no disturbing noice , beautiful view , you hear the birds sing , no interfering from other people , all the magic of Provence is there and and in the neighbourhood .You can choose your program of the day , make a walk in the hills , on one of the hiking-trails along a river or the lakes , go on the lakes for some watersport or hire a boat for a enchanting trip in the lower or higher gorges du Verdon , there are several beautiful villages in the Var nearby , in Luberon or Alpes de Provence.

Late afternoon-evening , enjoy again the quietness of one of the terraces , the gazebo ,the view, and take a refreshing bath in the pool ,from where you have a superb view on valley and mountains.the atmosphere in the evening is really exotic and invites for a rosé-wine , or you might prefer to enjoy the ambiance of a music-theatre- or dance-festival , there are many in the area .

TYPICAL FEATURES: the most typical features of Lasisampe and also its originality are on one hand the fact of being entirely built high on the rock ,the house ,garden ,swimming-pool , gazebo , creating its unique view down on the valley and the skyline , on the other hand its quietness and yet being close to all the important matters of daily routine

you don't share the property with other people ,it is special...

if you want a bit physical exercise in the morning , you can just walk down the shady hiking path , starting at the entrance door , to the 80 à 100 m lower situated village (a walk of about 15 minutes) to catch a fresh tasty french 'baguette' bread , come back the way up and cool down in the pool ,enjoying the splendid view , before having breakfeast ! (if you prefer the easier way , the road by car takes you down to the shops in 1 minute )

as for the old village of St Julien , it is beautiful , its origin is medieval , there is a beautiful old church , roman style , 11th-12th century , two art galleries, a tourist office with ample information , two bakeries , a superette , a butcher with high quality products , three restaurants,possibiliye of initiation of rock climbing with experienced guide at 100 m from La Sisampe ,many hiking paths in the neighbourhood of La Sisampe , watersport facilities on lake Esparron nearby and lake St Croix at 30 minutes driving , , there are within a radius of 30 km 5 beaches for sunbathing.

“A little piece of Heaven”

The extraordinary setting of this house so high up was an absolute delight. It was like sitting in heaven, watching the world go by, down under.

Our children could not wait to return every afternoon to swim in the pool which is built on a cliff, overlooking the beautiful village of St Julien in sunny Provence, while mum and dad had sun downers on the terrace before barbecuing every evening.

The huge apartment in which we stayed was perfectly clean with everything we needed and totally private from the very friendly and helpful owners of the house. I absolutely loved the green bathroom!

There are too much to do in this area and you won’t be able to fit it all in one week. A must see is the “Gorges du Verdon”, St Croix is beautiful and our kids loved going on the boats near Lake d Esparron. As this is the Provence, do not forget to visit one or two wineries.

We had a fantastic time and will highly recommend it for couples, families and pensioners.

Delightful Retreat

What a blissful location, idyllic vacation property as a romantic getaway and // or family retreat. Albert and Katia were very gracious hosts, helping us with any request and offering great hospitality. We just loved it there as a couple and also appreciated having a charming second bedroom for our daughter to visit for a couple of nights, the facilites were excellent and we all enjoyed the pool and private terrace. The views were spectacular and the restaurant in the mountaintop village was first rate, within easy walking distance and historical viewpoints and buildings were close at hand. A wonderful base for exploring Provence in the day and returning to the peaceful comforts of home at night.

We really felt welcome and at home

It was our luck that this wonderful house was available this summer and we spent a fantastic week with our three children (10,12,14) truly enjoying the facilities, the magnificent view and the extraordinary hospitality from Katia and Albrecht.

We went to many wonderful villages in the area, saw Lavender fields, visited a wine yard nearby, went to Gorges de Verdon, went swimming in lake St. Croix, but at the same time we spent many hours of total relaxation in the house and on the terraces belonging to it - with the pool as a perfect place to cool down.

We were surprised that the rooms were actually more spacious than we had imagined and our two girls really enjoyed sleeping in the huge master bed room.

Albrecht and Katia live in the first floor of the house and they gave us a warm welcome, a good introduction to the facilities and were very kind and helpful to us all week - they are very discreet and sociable persons, which we highly appreciated.

Our children also enjoyed the company of their two cats and we are sure the cats also had a great week.

We will certainly return to this wonderful house some day and can highly recommend you to visit La Sisampe.

Wonderful vacation property

The listing description does not do full justice to this marvelous vacation property. The rooms are spacious and well furnished, and the facilities are superb, especially the wonderful views. The pool is a nice bonus as well. There is also a gazebo and terrace overlooking the valley.

There is a fine restaurant in the old village within easy walking distance, and the main village is only five minutes away by car, or a little longer if you choose to walk.

The location is central to many outstanding vacation amenities which really need more than a single week to explore. We especially liked the Verdon Gorges, which are spectacular and should not be missed.

We had a very special week here and plan to return in the future.

The climax of our bicycle tour

After 500 kilometers and the final hard climb to La Sisampe, the place offered more than we could imagine. The warm wellcoming of our hosts , the tranquility and the breathtaking view to the valley exceeded all our wishes. The property is very well-maintained. The old village is charming and has also a restaurant with decent dinner. There is a walking path to the new village which can be reach in 10 minutes to buy fresh bread. We hope to be back some day.

Wir haben eine wunderbare Woche im Haus von Albert und Katia de Greve verbracht. Die Ausstattung war hervorragend und der Blick vom Pool aus über das Tal war atemberaubend.
Das Haus ist sehr gut geeignet für Menschen, die die Natur lieben aber auch gerne die Attraktionen der Umgebung besichtigen (Grand Canyon du Verdon, Aix en Provence, Manosque) Es gibt in der Umgebung viele weitere interessante Sehenswürdigkeiten.

A place that ensure a very good holiday

This house is very good, first some practical information:
- the description of the house on this web site is very accurate
- the property is clean and well-maintained
- the owner provides a very good customer service

There are a lot of things to see in the area:
- lavender fields
- water biking on the river at gorges du verdon
- the markeds in the local villages
- lac du sainte croix
(suggestions for things to do can be find in the house or you can ask the owner).

We stayed at the house with children aged 8 to 10 years and the enjoyed very much the pool, the terrace and the house.

the villa la Sisampe is just outside old medieval village of St Julien,360 viewpoint of area, in Parc régional du Verdon, boarders lac d'Esparron with watersport-facilities and quiet beach, next-door is hiking trail 'Paradis des Anes', within 1 hour driving starting point of many superb hiking trails, p.ex in Gorges du Verdon, gorges de Trevans, in the hills above Moustiers, also well known for ceramics & its Toscany-like aspect, in montagne St Victoire, where Cezanne used to mount for painting, Lac St Croix is at 40min ,Gréoux at 12km, thermal spa & entrance to famous lavender fields, within radius of 30 km you find 5 lakes with watersportfacilities and many beaches, Mediterranean and heart of Luberon at 1 h driving, Aix en Provence at 40min driving, Tourtour, Cotignac,Salernes,Aups, all typical little towns to discover in central Var at 30min, Le Thoronet-abbeye at 45min. many music-theatre-dance festivals and picturesque markets nearby. see WWW.LASISAMPE.COM.
