|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
There are no bad days at this wonderful lake home. Rest, relax and enjoy the peaceful beauty of this beautiful spot on the lake. Have your breakfast and coffee on the wharf and watch the sun rise, then in the late afternoon bring your coffee to the front porch and watch the sun set. My favorite spot is the master bedroom where you can watch the sunrise from your bed.
For lunch you can fire up the BBQ pit and enjoy a burger by the lake in the swing.After the sun has set you can collect some fire wood and head for the fire pit and enjoy the fire by the lake or you could try a little night fishing on the wharf under the light. You might even take a night time spin in the paddle boat and watch all the lights from the lake.We want you to enjoy everything about our lake home and we will do what ever we can to make your stay the best ever.Our lake front home is only 15 to 20 minutes from the Ouiska Chitto river which has several places you can take canoes out for day trips.You will enjoy the beautiful white sand and clear running water along with the wildlife,you can have a shore lunch,do some fishing,take a dip or just sit back and enjoy the sights. After your river excursion you can continue on for 15 to 20 minutes to the Coushatta Casino Resort and with lots of excitement and plenty of good food and fun, If you want you might even take in a round of golf at Koasati pines golf course.There are 2 more very nice casinos in Lake Charles about 1 hr away. If you like to relax and fish from the bank you can take a trip to the Sunrise Catfish Farm just 10 to 15 minutes away they have poles and bait available with 6 ponds to choose from they also have a small menu and a eating area with ice cream, and if you would like they will clean your fish for you. Just one hour to the north and you will be at Hodges Gardens where you will find some of the most beautiful gardens around this area. Nature trails,cabins,boats,and campgrounds are available, or you can tour in the car if you like.The 225 acre lake and the waterfalls in the garden area make this garden a must see spot for those who love gardens. On your way to Hodges Gardens you might want to stop by and check out the Fort Polk Leesville area the home of our brave soldiers. Looking for a Cajun restaurant Just one hour to the east and you will be in the heart of Cajun country there you will find DI's Cajun Restaurant complete with real Cajun food and a Cajun band with a dance floor built for Cajun dancing, lots of food & fun available there. If you are looking for a New Orleans style restaurant then Cecil's Cajun Kitchen is only 15 to 20 minutes away in DeRidder.They also have live music.Travel to the north west 40 minutes and you can rent tubes and float down the sabine river this can be a great time lots of fun and affordable. If you are looking for a quiet day just grab your pillow and head for the screen porch or the sun room and sit back and watch the herons, loons,and egrets playing around the cypress trees,and you might even see a gator or a pelican if you are lucky,or you could take the paddle boat for a spin. You might even want to pull up a chair and night fish under the light at the end of the wharf.
I have been in rentals since 1984. This is my first vacation rental and I am Learning alot. I have tried to make this home as if I were the one who was on vacation and had plans to stay here. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Brian Hamilton purchased this house in 1992
This home was our family home which we have enjoyed for a long time. We would like to share the special qualities of our home and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Lake view, nice garden like setting, large open floor plan, Fire place, two refrigerators, dishwasher, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, convection oven, boat house, wood shed, fire pit, and lots of porch space in front and back of house.
3 couples enjoyed our weekend escape to the lake. We loved the porch and sunroom. Sun streaming through the house and had plenty of room for us to cook, watch a movie and visit. We built a fire inside one night and at the fire pit the next night. Fished and paddled boat around the lake. Nice for each to have our own room to retire in after a leisurely day. We did have a little rain on the first night which made for a cold/wet trip to the upper bedroom. But guess that would be part of the excitement for kids and unique feature of the home. Brian was so helpful and prompt.
Our family decided to spend our Christmas vacation at this amazing getaway. This home was a half way point to each other for all 3 families. We did a lot of cooking, warming up by the fireplace and even brought our own Christmas Tree for our stay. We made smores by the fire pit one evening and could not have asked for a better time! We had a great time and plan on coming back in the near future!
We had stayed here twice now and we will keep coming back! So spacious and comfortable! It is great for family gatherings or great if you are relaxing alone. The paddle boats and fishing keep us entertained enough that we don't even have to leave the house at all! The owners have been incredibly nice to rent from. Couldn't ask for a better stay!
Great property! We loved using the pedal boats and the dock as well as building a camp fire. Such a relaxing weekend!
My family had a great time. There was no internet which was a little concerning at first, but the end result was priceless! My children (ages 7-18) actually enjoyed each other's company on the paddle boats, fishing, sleeping in the upstairs unit, playing games, and just sitting on the screened porch. Loved the game of Twister, too! We went on a couple day trips to see Louisiana but if we wanted to stay close the boating and fishing were great activities. Thank you for the opportunity to stay, would have loved an extra day!
My family is still expressing how much they enjoyed this mini vacation. We spent our Easter holidays here and it was awesome. The kids had a blast with the paddle boats and we sat and watched them paddle the lake from the boathouse deck and of course joined in the paddling fun. I called it "boy heaven" because the boys woke up at day break and went straight to the boat house ready to explore the lake. The house was very clean and well equipped and we had plenty of wood for the fireplace. We had "glow-in-the-dark" egg hunts and we grilled while relaxing on the swing watching the kids play. I would definitely recommend this place and would rent this lake house again. The only thing I would change is to have an inside entrance to the upstairs bedroom. Nevertheless, it would not stop me from renting again. The rest of the amenities override this small inconvenience. Awesome, beautiful place!! We made many memories here that will last a lifetime!!
