4 bedroom villa & 2 bedroom apartment, only 15 mins drive to sandy beaches

The villa & apartment make the most of breathtaking views over the tumbling stream, whilst the terraced gardens offers both sun & shade. They are planted with palms, yuccas & Mediterranean plants. Each property has it's own private area outside. The shared gate leads to the stream & natural pool great for swimming, fishing & exploring nature. The sound of running water & birds chirping help get you strait into the holiday mood. This is a place where you can really relax & unwind, yet is close to so much.

THE VILLA: Inside 9 rooms including 4 bedrooms offer plenty of space. French doors let in plenty of sun & allow you to enjoy the amazing views. From the sitting room a balcony overlooks the stream. Upstairs the 3 & 4th bedroom leads too a large private roof terrace.

APARTMENT RIVIERE: Outside large patios & terraced gardens lead via a private entrance to the two bedroom apartment also offering magical private views over the cascading stream & gardens.

Each has it's own ping pong.

Natural swimming pool & ping pong: Children or adults alike can while away hours looking for fish (bring a net or buy one locally) swimming or just enjoying a BBQ surrounded by blissful natural sounds. If you are the sort of person who enjoys being in a really natural environment & prefers the idea of pure mountain water to chlorine, but likes to be close to the action, this is for you. The Edge of the pool shelves gently, so it is a good place for children to practice swimming under supervision. The waterfall cascading into the pool is a constant pleasure to watch & ensures the water remains clean. Older children & adults love to jump in from the rocks above! In winter spring & autumn the stream often surges after rain which is quite thrilling, in summer it continues to flow more quietly.

There is a gate separating the properties from the stream to keep children safe, but obviously you must use prudence especially with young children.

Ping ping is also available to the villa.

Near to everything: The villages of Sorede & Laroque Des Alberes are only 5 minutes by car & offers a full range of shops & restaurants. The roads are very easy & though the villa is in nature, there are houses round about, so it is by no means cut off from civilization. This is a wonderful place in summer to escape the crowds & is a welcome few degrees cooler with good air. In spring & Autumn everything is green & flowering so it is also a wonderful time to come.

Space & comfort, great weather, walks & WIFI: The villa especially, is very spacious with large rooms. The sofa & chairs are very comfortable & the furniture good quality, offering a touch of luxury. For rainy days there is English sky free to view TV & WIFI but with an average 300 days of sun a year & warm micro climate there are not many of these!! This area offers one of the best climates in France which is why the French have holidayed here for years.

Walking is a great pleasure here especially off season when it is cooler. There are a huge array to choose from, whether you are a casual walker or up for long hikes. Many are possible strait from the villa & apartment.

There is of course also the possibility of renting both the villa & the apartment if you are a larger group.

This villa is suitable for up to 8 people . A really comfortable spacious villa which has been newly renovated to a high standard. In front of the property a large Romanesque courtyard leads to the private entrance. For younger children this area can be closed off. There are a whole host of terraces to choose from for sunbathing, reading a good book, or eating or drinking 'En Dehors' The shared gate leads to the stream where you will also find a large natural swimming pool which has formed as part of the stream. Inside the hallway leads to 2 double bedroom with en-suite bathrooms, family bathroom, Separate W.C & ,large sitting room/dining room & kitchen area leading to a large balcony overlooking the stream. Most rooms have French windows, plenty of sun & doors to the terraces outside. A spiral stairway leads upstairs to the 3nd & 4th bedroom which can be joined or separated. A large private roof terrace offers plenty of sun & magnificent views.

Sorede is an undiscovered gem nestling in the foothills of the Alberes part of the Pyrenees, yet only 10 mins from the sandy Mediterranean beaches & sparkling sea. This enchanting village has several good restaurants & all the necessary amenities & shops including: boulangeries, bank, post office, children’s playground & tourist information office. It's attractions include a twice weekly market, turtle zoo & riding stables.

Sorede is very authentic & friendly. A thriving local population means it is open for business all year round.

From Sorede you are well situated to visit many other interesting places including vibrant Ceret Market (overflowing with local produce) & museum of modern art. Perpignan 20 minutes drive. Beautiful Colliure, a romantic seaside village is a must.

Spain's Costa Brava, Girona & Barcelona are in day trip range.

Mountains, thermal bathes & ski slopes are all accessible.

This is a great base for sun, sea & sites either for a family or a couple.

We spent a wonderful fortnight in the villa with 2 teenage boys and our lively 4 year old daughter. We had a fantastic time and the children had alot of fun playing and swimming in the rock pools every day. It can get very hot during the day in August and this was a perfect way to relax and to cool down. It was very special and magical to barbecue on the rocks in the evening and watch the bats diving into the water. The close proximity to Spain makes it an ideal place for a two centre holiday - we drove onto Barcelona for the final weekend of our holiday. Thank you for introducing us to this region of France!

We (family of three, w/ daughter aged 3) spent two extremely enjoyable weeks in Villa Heureuse - in mid October, 2010.
Torrential rain during the first few days turned the little stream behind the house into an impressive river. Yet, the place was so nice we could even relax during the rainy days. We enjoyed hiking, sightseeing (there's such a lot of things to see around Sorède and in the area) and even the sea.
We are certainly looking forward to coming back sometime.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

We are now going to make the villa even better, turning it form 3 to 4 bedrooms & creating 2 new bathrooms which will be top quality, including walk in showers & also a brand new fully fitted kitchen in the sitting/dining room. We will also enlarge the dining area & install new large folding glass doors to the balcony to make the most of indoor/outdoor living. It will be an extra bit of luxury in this superb setting. This will be completed by February.

Family Holiday at Villa Hereuse

We had a lovely family holiday at the Villa, which has a fantastic setting on the river. There was plenty for our 3 pre-teen and teenage children to do and the table tennis table just outside the front door was an added bonus, which we made good use of! The villa is ideally situated for easy access to the whole of the surrounding area, including many of the excellent nearby beaches - La Racou and La Peyrefite particularly worth a visit, the latter especially for snorkelling in the marine reserve.
Spectacular views of the Alberes, with many walks nearby and easy access to Sorede by car or bike, likewise to Laroque.
This was our third visit to the area, and we definately plan to return again in the future!

Outstanding Holiday! Caroline and James could not be nicer.The villa was immaculate and very well equipped.They made us feel at home right away.Plenty of "extras".We were central to all sight seeing and restaurants.The villa had magnificant views of a mountain stream and all kinds of wild life.There were plenty of paths and walks through the beautiful countryside or short day trips either in France or Spain.The weather is perfect for many different activities going on all year.We would definately recommend Villa Heureuse to our friends and cant wait to go back again ourselves.

Villa Heureuse in Happy Valley!

We spent three lovely weeks (summer 2009) in unique surroundings - with the rock pool as the big bonus where children and adults had at least one daily swim. The best pool in garden we've ever had! Perfect place for children (ours aged 5,11 and 13) - when not in the river they played table tennis or explored surroundings. Hosts were very friendly, had lots of advice for restaurants and outings and was ready with kind service when needed. It was possible to walk in the mountains in almost every direction from the house on nice foot paths up to where we had stunning view all the way to the sea. The nearest village Sorede had some nice restaurant and on Thursdays one could spend evening (after dinner) in the town square watching locals dance Sardane - on our last Thursday we even joined in!! During three weeks we had one meal inside the house - the house had two nice dining areas outside which we used for all meals. We had a couple of rainy days, and then the winter garden was perfect for sitting "outside" in the rain and watch the lightning flashing through the darkness in the evening. We were one family of five and two friends staying together. The house had plenty of space for all of us - only minus was that you had to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to next bedroom. No problem if children are sharing the two rooms though. All in all this is a house which have everything you need for a self catering holiday, lovely surroundings and not far to drive to fantastic beaches, other villages, city (Perpignan) or Spanish border. Highly recommended!!
