Only 15 min away from the village of Fornalutx and Soller and set in a beautiful and secluded setting, L’Olivar is a beautiful stone cottage that shows the owner’s love for this cottage in every detail. The cottage is separate and secluded; with own parking area and access. It is an example of sustainable living, using solar energy and the inner water resources to make a paradise vacation home. L'Olivar cottage has many sitting, eating and relaxation areas by the private pool (4x3) surrounded by olive groves. The cottage is in between Soller and the village of Fornalutx in a tranquil and peaceful location surrounded by the perfume of orange blossom from the citrus groves. Fornalutx sits in a valley of the Tramuntana mountains in Mallorca and is considered to be one of the prettiest villages in Spain. The village itself is a tranquil location where one can relax with only the sound of the tinkling of sheep bells disturbing the peace. With 3 cafes, 4 restaurants, bank, pharmacy, gift shops and mini-supermarket it is easy to stay and relax or use the village as a base for walking and cycling.15 min by car will bring you to the beach at Port of Soller or Soller itself with its Art Nouveau architecture and greater variety of shops and its food market. 20 min by car will bring you to Deia and further along to Valldemossa. Palma itself is a picturesque train ride away or a 45 min car journey.

Quiet mountain retreat

A beautiful cottage right up in the mountains above Biniaraix. The very friendly owner met us in the Village and we followed him up to the cottage up up a steep winding road. Everything that followed was fantastic, and great value too. Amazing views across the valley and up to the mountain tops. Perfect pool to cool off in. The cottage superbly maintained and spotlessly clean. Astonishingly well equipped kitchen, large fridge/freezer, comfortable beds, brilliant shower, loads of hot water - and all solar powered. What more do you need? easy access to supermarket in Soller (short drive or 40 minute walk), 20 minute walk to fornalutx (follow the road uphill for 5 minutes and take the signed footpath down the hill). Thoroughly recommended. Book with confidence! What next? Sleep, read, olives, swim, write, bats at dusk, hammock, lemons, eat, wine, walk, relax. What more do you want? Perfect.

Paradise place!!

We enjoy so much our vacation at the Olivar Cottage ! The place is fantastic, up in the mountains (the car ride to get to the house is really twisting and narrow but worth the trouble!). The pool is fantastic as well as the house, fully equiped, clean and pretty well decored. The garden is really beautiful, the owner take good care of it ! The only thing were the matress, they are hard for the back, need to be change soon. Otherwise, we met friendly goats and enjoy the place so much that we seriously tought we might like to buy it but we are almost sure that the owner will never sell this paradise! We have rent a lots of houses in our different trips, that place is really a ''coup de coeur''. Thank you Tony for sharing this paradise with us! It is a privilege! We had such a wonderful time!

Perfect Retreat!

This is a great place to get away from the 'madding crowd', I had a 9 day holiday here with my wife and we loved it. We both work long hours so being able to drive into the busier resorts of Soller for a meal or some shopping and then back to a peacful cottage in lovely surrondings was just great.

We did walk into Fornalutx using the pathway and there are a few nice places to eat there, coming back is a bit of a steep climb after a meal and a drink, well worth the effort though.

Tony is the owner and he is a lovely man, could not have been more helpful and is obviously a very hard working guy.

You need a car if you want to get about but if you are content to just relax in one place and do some walking through picturesque villages and countryside then its perfect.

This place is exactly as it looks in the photographs and some. Clean, well maintained and in a unique location.

We will be back!!!

Away from it all

The last part of the journey to the property was along an extremely narrow and winding road of approx 1.6 km where one had to reverse to reach a passing place when there were oncoming vehicles. I was rather nervous about having to drive this stretch. Luckily we did not meet to many cars!
The property is a long way from the nearest village (Binairaix) so it very quiet and away from it all. The views from the terrace are restricted and unfortunately one could not move the outside dining table to get a view as it was far too heavy.
The property inside was as described. Nice big lounge / kitchen. The bedroom was very basic and one mattress was extremely soft - this should be replaced. However, the linen was clean.
The bathroom was very small and the very small shower cubicle was just enclosed with a plastic shower curtain that was not up to the job hence the bathroom floor got flooded evreytime we showered. Some of the towels should be replaced.
The owner came to clean the pool and water the garden one evening when this could have been on changeover day rather when we were at the property.
In summary, if you are not worried about the drive up to the property it is in a lovely location away from it all. It is in a good location if you like walking. Some walks start on your doorstep and you can walk down the hill to Fornalutz to a lovely restaurant that is real good value for money. It's the last restaurant on the East side of this village.
Owner's Response: Dear guest. Thank you for your comments. We are now going to replace the mattress and we will be looking at changing the shower curtain. Because of our climate we need to water the plants on a regular basis, every 2 or 3 days, so to keep the garden beautiful. We do also clean the pool regularly to keep it up to the standars. We are sorry if we disturb you. We do try to come at times when our guests might be out. We are happy to hear you found the location lovely and that you enjoy walking down to Fornalutx. Best.
