This beautiful top floor duplex apartment offers spacious and bright rooms, set in a peaceful riverside street, with free on-street parking and delightful views over Stockbridge and the Water of Leith.

Quietly located in the New Town, one of Edinburgh's most sought after areas, with easy access to the city centre and excellent amenities close at hand. A comprehensive range of visitor attractions in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas will keep you spoilt for choice. You will be able to enjoy the attractions, while using the peaceful apartment as a base to explore from and come home to rest in.

The immaculate property has two pristine bedrooms and can easily accommodate six guests. The master and second bedrooms both have double beds and fitted wardrobes. The living room has a double sofa bed and includes a dining area with a table and four chairs. TV and free Wi-Fi internet are also provided. The hall and downstairs porch are bright and spacious with tiled floors.

The light kitchen is fully fitted with a washing machine, newly fitted gas hob/electric oven, as well as a kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge. The bathroom has the benefit of a bath with a power shower over, wash hand basin and W.C.

Waverley and Haymarket railway stations are readily accessible, as are several major bus routes into town and all driving routes to the City By-pass, ensuring swift access to other outlying districts, Edinburgh Airport and the Forth Road Bridge.

About George McDougall

Born in London, I moved to Edinburgh at a very young age. I went to school here and then onto university where I graduated in Computer Science. I have since moved back to London with my fiancee and spend my time working and travelling between both wonderful cities.

Why George McDougall chose Stockbridge

There are 2 reasons why I purchased this property and these are 'location' and 'space'. Anyone who knows Edinburgh knows that Stockbridge is probably the most desirable suburb in the entire city. With it's vast array of restaurants (including Michelin star), bars and independent shops, it's the perfect place to base yourself for a trip to the city. In terms of size, the apartment is very spacious and comfortably sleeps 6 people. Additionally, it's top floor location and large windows really make the apartment feel bright with lovely views over the Water of Leith river.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment comes with free on-street parking which in Edinburgh is a very unique feature. The location benefits from being just a short walk from Princes Street, whilst at the same time allowing guests to sample the riverside and peaceful walks of the Water of Leith and the Botanic Gardens.

Guestbook comments from the owner

All interactions with the host were positive; he was helpful, responsive, and prompt at all times. The flat was comfortable and as tidy and attractive as pictured. The neighbourhood is lovely with lots of shops and restaurants, yet Edinburgh's top sites and attractions are easy to reach on foot. We were able to park our car free of charge in the resident parking attached to the building. We hope to stay here again soon!

Very good stay....Edinburgh is a great Town

The stay at Edinburgh very great !

Apartment just next to the center. The Scots are really very Welcoming. Very good support from the owner before to arrive : restaurant address (Very good restaurant just next to the apartment), what is need to do, etc. I highly recommend this property. I know...there are a lot of "very" but It was simply very great !!!

The apartment was great - bright, spacious and spotlessly clean. George and Sue Ann were welcoming and the additional touches were much appreciated. Perfect Location

I booked this flat for a girl's get together. It was a perfect location, cafes, bars, restaurants, shops and the river right out your window. We didn't need to leave Stockbridge! The flat was clean and warm and very reasonably priced. Would definitely go back.

Ideal location in one of the best areas of Edinburgh. Very helpful owner who was quick to the rescue when oven was not working. External areas not the most appealing but the flat itself was lovely and had everything required for a city break.

Stockbridge has a definite Bohemian vibe and many artists, musicians, poets, writers and Thespians have made the area their home. Over the years famous residents have included, portrait artist Sir Henry Raeburn, poet James Hogg, surgeon Sir James Young Simpson and more recently actor Norman Lovett and the lead singer of the band 'Garbage', Shirley Manson.

The original Mrs Doubtfire or 'Madame Doubtfire' lived and ran a rag and bone shop in South East Circus Place, Stockbridge. The novelist Anne Fine who also lived in the area was inspired by the name which remained faded above her shop (now a solicitors) many years after Madame Doubtfire's death. Her novel of the same name was in turn the inspiration for the movie based on her book, although Robin William's character bares little resemblance to the 'real' Madame Doubtfire.

Stockbridge is home to a wealth independent amenities, including artisan bakeries, butchers, cheese-mongers and coffee shops. All these goodies can be sampled along the high street or at the Stockbridge Market which runs all day on a Sunday and is located directly opposite the apartment.

For those interested in vintage clothing, Stockbridge's charity shops are well known in Edinburgh as offering some of the best high quality vintage clothing in the city. Amongst the vast quantities of clothing, you might just spot a real designer gem!

The nightlife options in Stockbridge are vast, with both Michelin star and budget restaurants on your doorstep. Again, there is an assortment of different bars, everything from a huge range of local whiskies at the The Stockbridge Tap to scrummy cocktails at Hamiltons.

GETTING AROUND EDINBURGH

Edinburgh has an excellent bus service which is ideal for travelling anywhere in the city and beyond, e.g. Glasgow, Inverness, etc. A single ticket for journeys in Edinburgh costs £1.50 per journey. Bus stops are located all along Stockbridge High Street (1 min walk from the apartment) with bus numbers 24, 29 and 42 taking you direct to the Princes Street and the Royal Mile.

For those with a car, the apartment includes free parking directly outside the apartment block.

GETTING TO THE APARTMENT

By Air

A taxi from Edinburgh Airport. Buses from the Airport, its final stop on Waverley Bridge beside the rail station.

By Rail

Edinburgh's Waverley Station is situated on Princes Street and is about 15 minutes walk to the apartment.

By Car

Those arriving by car should access the New Town from the West via Queensfery Road and the Stockbridge district, or from the south and east via London Road and Leith Walk. We can send tailored driving instructions to anyone requiring them. The apartment includes free parking directly outside the apartment block.
