Designed by the architect William Playfair in the middle of the 19th century, Carlton Terrace, along with the adjacent Regent and Royal Terraces, forms part of Edinburgh's prestigious New Town district.

This comfortable one bedroom apartment within Carlton House has recently been refurbished and furnished. Situated on Carlton Terrace, one of Edinburgh's most elegant cobbled streets, this second floor apartment is in a prime location for the city centre attractions as well as its famous viewpoints such as Calton Hill & Arthur's Seat. The Royal Mile and Princes Street are both only a 10 minute walk away.

The apartment's position at the rear of the building ensures privacy, tranquillity and a south facing aspect.

Please note, this is a non smoking apartment.

Local Vicinity: As you walk out of the front door of Carlton House and face London Road Gardens, it is difficult to believe you are only a 5 minute walk from the vibrant restaurant and entertainment district of the East End of Edinburgh. The Playhouse Theatre which stages the latest musicals and shows is a 5 min. walk away and Harvey Nichols and John Lewis department stores are also within 5-10 mins. walk. Add another 5 mins. walk and you'll reach the shopping district of Princes Street and George Street.

Parking: Street parking is available on Carlton Terrace on a metered basis from 08:30-17:30 Mon-Fri but with max. stay 4 hours at any one time. Outside of these times, parking is free. You are virtually guaranteed to find a place right outside the property at any time.

Highly recommended apartment

First, Mark - the owner - is a top bloke. Extremely helpful and always seems to have a minute to talk when you call up.
Second, the apartment is fantastic. All smartly furnished, very clean and spacious. And we were less than 10 minutes away from Princes street by foot. An extremely generous price for the high standard that is provided.
The description of the apartment is very accurate, and even though the third person takes the sofa bed in the front room, it never once felt cramped.

And there's a great French bakery 2 minutes walk away...but Mark'll tell you all about that when you arrive.

Highly recommended!

First of all, Mark was a wonderful host. He was prompt to answer all inquiries and emails. The apartment exactly as described and even better in real person. It's spotless and tastefully decorated. I never wanted to leave! Everything you need is right there. Mark has prepared a very clear instructions for things around the apartment and near by bakeries,supermarket etc. Above all the apartment is right near the center--within walking distance of all the attractions.I would highly recommend this gem!

First, I want to thank Mark for rescuing me. I had, through my own confusion, managed to strand myself without accommodations for the first leg of my stay in Scotland. I frantically sent out inquiries for last minute bookings and got an immediate response (and a ton of sympathy!). Mark picked my exhausted and rattled self up at nearby Waverly Train Station and assisted me in hauling my ton of luggage up to the loveliest flat I've stayed in. It was a beautiful, restful oasis. I had everything I could possibly need, including close proximity to everything I wanted to do in Edinburgh. The building is in a very quiet area and close to multiple grocery stores and cash machines. I was also provided with local recommendations and a map to find everything. The owner was very solicitous and lives very close by in case anything is needed. Thank you again Mark for your help (and for not laughing at my ditziness!)

Amazing apartment in city center

I stayed at this apartment for 4 days and 3 nights. When we got into it we were just so surpreised by all the amazing details and attetion that Mark had for the forniture. I've visited many cities and stayed in few apartments but nothing can beat this one. There's everything you might need and more. There were 3 of us and we had all our space. The beds were confortable and the kitchen is so well equipped. Its such a warm and lovely apartment.The position is perfect for visiting the city,really just 10 minutes walking to Princes Street.
We had such a great time here in Edinburgh,also thanks to this wonderful place. We'll surely consider it if we'll ever come back.

FABULOUS!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Mark's place! The rental is located about a 10 minute walk from the city, yet the area feels very quiet. The interior is wonderfully furnished, in great condition.

Staying at Carlton Place surpassed all our expectations and helped us have an amazing stay in Edinburgh. This was the best experience we have ever had with a rental unit.

Fantastic apartment in Edinburgh

We (two friends from Berlin/Germany) stayed in this wonderful apartment for 10 days and we really felt like home!The owner Mark - who is so nice! - furnished the flat so very comfortable, we did not miss anything. New kitchen, new bath room and everything very clean! One of us slept in the bedroom, the other one on the sofabed in the living room.

Not only the apartment was perfect, so was the location. We did everything on foot. Two super markets, a wonderful bakery and the bus stop just around the corner. It's easy to walk to the city center - it just takes about 10 minutes to Princess Street or the Royal Mile! We will come back - THANK YOU, MARK!!!

BEWERTUNG AUF DEUTSCH:
Wir (zwei Freundinnen aus Berlin) hatten einen der schönsten Urlaube in Schottland, was vor allem an dieser wunderbaren Wohnung in Edinburgh gelegen hat! Besitzer Mark hat wirklich an alles gedacht. Es hat nichts gefehlt; die Wohnung in dem wunderschönen Haus ist komplett saniert und toll eingerichtet, Bad und Küche sind neu und alles sehr sauber! Da wir getrennt schlafen wollten, hat eine das Doppelbett im Schlafzimmer genommen, die andere von uns schlief auf der ausziehbaren Couch im Wohnzimmer.

Auch die Lage der Wohnung ist unschlagbar! Um die Ecke sind gleich 2 Supermärkte und eine tolle Bäckerei. Die Bushaltestelle ist ebenfalls gleich um die Ecke. Man kann aber auch gut ins Zentrum laufen: 10 Minuten zur Princess Street und auch nur 10 Minuten zur Royal Mile. Wir wollen unbedingt einmal wieder nach Edinburgh kommen, und dann natürlich NUR in dieser Wohnung wohnen! Vielen Dank, Mark!!!

Edinburgh is steeped in history and as well as providing a city break location, it is also ideally situated for excursions to the beaches and golf courses of East Lothian and Fife.

The city is famous for its Georgian architecture, its open spaces and also its festivals, notably the world's largest arts festival in August and Hogmanay at New Year. The cosmopolitan feel of the city owes its thanks to its foreign visitors, university students and of course the local residents.

A walking tour of Edinburgh's architectural highlights starts on your doorstep and should go on to include the Royal Mile and the Scottish Parliament which are both within a very short distance.

Calton Hill, situated just behind Carlton Terrace is a must for any visit to Edinburgh as it offers fine views of the city and across to Fife and East Lothian. Holyrood Park with Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags are also within easy walking distance and here it is easy to forget you are in a city at all.
