Corncrake Cottage is a superb holiday home located on Kill Mountain overlooking the popular holiday resort of Dunfanaghy in North Donegal. The cottage has been built in a traditional style with exposed ceiling beams, reclaimed wooden floors, large stone fireplace, wide chimney breast and rough cast walls inside and out. It has been tastefully furnished and decorated throughout in keeping with the traditional style.

The elevated site of the cottage on Kill Mountain provides it with stunning and uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside and coastline from Horn Head to Sheephaven Bay. This beautiful landscape is ever changing with the constantly changing sky.

The cottage can accommodate up to 8 people in 3 very spacious bedrooms - all with good views. Each bedroom is furnished with luxury beds and goose down quilts. The large open plan ground floor of the cottage combines the ease of modern living with the charm of a bygone era. The centrepiece is a huge stone fireplace.

Amenities: Mountain climbing and hill walking are popular in this spectacular landscape with Errigal, Muckish and the Derryveagh mountains all easily reachable. Windsurfing, water-skiing, scuba diving, canoeing and sailing are popular activities in the general locality.

Concrake cottage is centrally located on the North Donegal coastline. There are few areas of Ireland which enjoy such an unspoilt environment with a wealth of opportunity for open-air activities.

Golf: For the golf enthusiast there are four 18 hole courses in the vicinity - one in Dunfanaghy itself, two at Rosapenna and one in Carrigart. Horse-riding, cycling, hill walking and painting are ever popular in this beautiful area. A herd of native red deer roams the mountains and valleys in the nearby 10,000 hectare Glenveagh National Park, famed for its castle, lakes, formal gardens, exotic plants and rare birds - including the recently reintroduced golden eagle.

The perfect place to stay

I spent a week in this wonderful cottage near Dunfanaghy with my wife and another couple. The house is furnished excellently and creates an atmosphere which makes you feel at home immediately. When we arrived we found a fridge full of everything we needed for our breakfast and two bottles of very good wine and everything was complimentary.The view from the house is breathtaking and I caught myself several times standing at one of the windows and looking at the scenery. The nearest pub, the village and supermarket are only two km away. In addition to this realy comfortable cottage the area around Dunfanaghy is one of the nicest places on earth for me but I have to admit that Ireland is one of my favourite holiday destinations. I can really recommend this place to everybody who looks for an extraordinary accomodation in an absolutely unique area. Apart from all that Annemarie is so helpful with anything you need.
Thank you for the wonderful time we could spend in your cottage.

Having grown up in cold cottages on holidays in dunfanaghy it was wonderful to return as an adult to such a luxurious spot! we love your style, the way you've created an elegant but cosy spot! Would highly recommend Corncrake Cottage to all family and friends. Thank you for being so accommodating!
