This unique treasure of a home in Neskowin offers unparalleled ocean views from the open air living space and deck! Sahhali Views features a luxurious Japanese soaking tub!
The home is ideally situated on the side of a hill overlooking a marsh below and it comes with a view that stretches for miles upon miles. As you walk into the house you are greeted with a large open space with the kitchen, dining area and living area. There are floor to ceiling windows covering the whole ocean facing portion of the home so you get the most out of the views. The greatest feature of all is the retractable wall that creates an open air living space that allows you to feel the ocean breeze and listen to the sounds of the sea. It is truly an oasis.
The kitchen is fully equipped and it even has an induction stove top so it will be a favorite spot for the chef in the family! The dining area seats six and offers a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy your meal. The living room is equipped with a large flat panel TV with DirecTV and a DVD player. The sofa folds out into a bed to accommodate two guests, and the wood fireplace in the living room is perfect for those days when you can't enjoy the open air deck! There is also a telescope available for whale watching. There is half bathroom on the main floor and a large office space in the loft so the main level of the home has everything you need to make this your perfect home away from home!
The lower level of the house features both bedrooms and two state of the art full bathrooms. The bathrooms are so nice in fact that the master bathroom was featured in Oregon's "1859" magazine! The master bedroom has a queen bed and a small wood stove to go with the ocean views to make this a great place for a romantic retreat. The master bathroom only adds to the elegance as you are treated with a Japanese soaking tub and a spacious separate shower.
The second bedroom also features a queen bed and open views. The second bathroom has the same elegant design as the master but without the Japanese soaking tub. It is a great place to share between two couples as every one has their own space. There is also a small fitness room with a rowing machine in the lower level.
The house is surrounded by natural beauty as you can't even see any of the neighbors. The views you get are unobstructed, pristine views of the ocean and wetlands preserve. The trail down to the beach takes you through the wetlands area and you can do a beautiful loop trail that will bring you up a steeper trail if you are looking for more adventure. The Neskowin area provides a wealth of great hiking options from Cascade Head to Cape Lookout.
Neskowin is a small community with a lot of charm - there is a beautiful art gallery in town that is worth exploring and a small grocery store that is convenient for picking up last minute items. If you are looking for more commercial activities like shopping, movies and more dining options - Pacific City and Lincoln City are both just a short drive away. If you are looking for tranquility and a relaxing, peaceful vacation, Sahhali Views is the perfect spot!

Note that it has been seven months since we spent a week in this remarkable modern house. I have avoided reviewing it for selfish reasons: we did not want you to know how good it is. In fact, we have booked for two weeks this coming September. I guess that shows we liked the house a lot. The reason I break silence now is that shy Robin from Seattle (what were they up to in those rooms?), like another visitor, wants curtains! I sincerely hope the owner ignores this advice, as the wonderful light is welcome in a sometimes cloudy coast. Only a voyeur standing on the road just above the house could see anything, except for the side window in the lower bedroom. Perhaps because our Tennessee house has two stories of glass on three sides, we love the connection with nature. We too have no curtains, only a water garden and woods. This beach house faces a nature preserve down the hill. It is really rather private, and one can sun in privacy on the deck. The owner wanted to bring the environment indoors, and Boora Architects (Portland) designed the house with that in mind, finishing in 2009. You can see the construction and two other remarkable buildings they have designed for the coast at boora.com. The bathroom was featured in Oregon's "1859" magazine, and we are remodeling ours with the walk-in shower in mind and a soaking tub. I won't repeat all the other positives comments, except to note that light over the kitchen counter is still apparently not working. Now the cat is out of the bag, enjoy this exceptional location and structure, but not when we want it!
We met up with our two adult children, and we cooked, hiked, read, had fires.
The place was so beautiful and a true, relaxing, getaway! We will come and visit again!
This house is not only in an amazing setting but itself an architectural wonder and a pleasure to stay for someone familiar with architecture and construction industry. It's so rare to find a modern beach house that is well designed and built with such attention to detail. If anything was compromised, it's not to be recognized by those not involved, even familiar with the construction industry. Not only the house blends in with the surroundings, unlike most beach homes, it also is secluded enough that one only takes in the views of the ocean and the nature, undisturbed by human artifacts. As a result, we spent the majority of the time in the house and on the deck, rather then exploring Neskowin. We would love to find out who the designer was.
The Cafe at Hawk Creek is a nice local haunt with pretty good food and a great wine list
Pros: All-in-all this was a great place to stay. The view was great, the wall opening out onto the deck is a fantastic feature and I loved the soaking tub. The kitchen was decently stocked with cooking items, but I had also brought the specialty items I needed with me for the meals I wanted to cook.
Cons: There was some dirt on the floors when we got there so I had to sweep up and I had to clean off some sort of smearing on the counter tops, but other than that the place was quite clean and pleasant! There were also out lights above the kitchen counters that was frustrating, but there was other lighting that managed to compensate.
We arrived in the middle of a driving night storm after negotiating the winding roads in rain and darkness. In such conditions we had no way to see the property as we fumbled to open the doors and unload in a downpour. However, we were rewarded by stepping into the sort of home that I would love to call my own, clean, modern and in tune with the storm outside. The next morning we awoke to the most amazing views all around us. This home blends in with the dramatic coastline and invites light, air and soothing sounds of the distant surf. The kitchen was a cook's dream for a summer barbecue on the porch overlooking the ocean, or a cozy chili supper during a cold winter storm. I would recommend this beautiful home for anyone who needs a few days of rest surrounded by the beauty of the Oregon coast.
