We had the pleasure of saying at this fabulous villa for a week in October and I we were most impressed. The villa is beautifully and is in a very peaceful location but close enough to the hustle and bustle of city should you wish to explore .
The pool was perfectly sized for our 2 kids aged 8 and 10 (I would recommend having it heated so you can enjoy it all day ) and we choose to be indulged by the wonderful cook Fatima who mustered up the most fabulous Moroccan food which was definitely better than anything that we ate in the ' guide book ' recommended eateries in town.
In short if you want a week of R & R in glorious sunshine and a five star setting this is the place for you, the local concierge was very helpful at organising taxi's and a driver to visit the Atlas Mountains and a trip to the zip wire course.
We will definitely return.
Thank you Rob and Philippe and Omar.
This was the perfect holiday for us. Such a lovely villa and set up with the housekeeper and cook meant we could totally relax in total privacy. But because it is possible to go into Marrakech every day then we were also able to get a buzz of excitement from the wondeful madness of Marrakech. The villa is really nicely furnished. And I hadn't appreciated how much work our housekeeper would do. She really looked after us And having someone who made up the bedrooms and tidied up every day was such a break from home life. The spa was great and reasonably priced compared to the uk.
If I were being fussy I Would just say that the villa is very quiet indeed in the evenings. A DVD player would have been great as would possibly more choice of TV channels. It wasn't a massive problem but with two teenagers in tow then on some evening it would've been nice to sit down and watch some entertainment. I would also say that a later shuttlebus from Marrakech would be great so that dinner in Marrakech didn't mean having to come back by taxi. We had a great regular taxi driver but because we wanted to go into Marrakech most evenings it did get very expensive over the course of the stay.
We would definitely go back to this villa.
Great food, beautiful villa and superb service. Club facilities are very quiet and uninviting, but villa 12 provided everything we needed. The owner was always helpful and at the end of an email, Karima is wonderful and the cook I wanted to bring home! Highly recommended!
For the discerning and experienced villa renter, Domaine Akdhar will tick all the boxes for a luxurious getaway break. The setting is half an hour from the airport and transfer is provided. On arrival at the villa, visitors are greeted by the extremely efficient Housekeeper, Karima who has ensured the villa is spotlessly clean for your arrival both inside and outside in the grounds by the swimming pool. (i.e correct number of sunbeds arranged with folded pool towels for each guest). This attention to detail is maintained throughout your stay and the villa is cleaned daily.
The villa is large, with a Riad style courtyard as well as a good size garden and beautiful swimming pool. The décor could be described as authentic and opulent with en-suite marble bathrooms and swathes of fabric draped at the bedroom windows. The provision of air conditioning units throughout the villa ensures comfort during the hottest times of the day. Our children, (boy aged 11 and twins aged 9) were delighted with the villa surroundings and the pool. They chose to utilise the clubhouse facilities in the morning and the villa pool in the afternoon. The clubhouse pool and grounds are also very well maintained with plenty of beds and seating.
We opted for full board at the villa and would rate the food and service as 5* - no food request was too much trouble for the wonderful chef and each meal was served at the times we requested. Every meal was freshly prepared and we preferred to opt for the authentic Moroccan cuisine each day. We dusted off our 'school standard' French and were easily able to converse with the staff. We have previously stayed in a villa in Sri Lanka which was staffed, therefore, we had an idea of how this system works. However, we cannot emphasise how discreet the staff at Domaine Akhdar are, they operate in such a way that you feel as if you are in the audience of a professional theatre production where everything goes on behind the scenes but you are not privy to the mechanics or effort that it all entails............
If you are looking for 5* hotel service with the luxurious privacy of a villa then this this ideal combination is thoroughly catered for in Domaine Akhdar.
As soon as we walked in to the Villa we knew we had made the right choice.
We were greeted by the staff that showed us round. Every room was prefect and when we reached the garden and swimming pool that was it.. Heaven!
The staff could not have been more helpful. Preparing our meals at the time we wanted and what we wanted. The Villa was cleaned every day in a way that did not intrude on our privacy.
It would have been easy to stay at the Villa all holiday but we would have missed the markets, Quad biking, Camel riding and so much more. All these activities were arranged at our request by the staff. A free taxi service that runs four times a day is great for just popping in to the centre of Marrakesh.
We would recommend this Villa to anyone
Booked this house very last minute, and turned out to be absolutely great. Bueatifully build, nice and wide bedrooms with lovely large garden. We only forgot to request pool heating to be switched on, so next time i would definately do that. The chef and housekeepers were just absolutely gorgeous. The food was just delicious and the few times we did end up eating out, we regretted it (i have 2 small kids so were a bit limited and when to go). But Khadija cooked the most delicious dishes and Hyatt was just so good with the kids too. Very discreet staff that were visible when needed and otherwise very to themselves. Would definately go back.
The villa is a beautiful traditional style Moroccan villa enclosed within its own red walls on a domaine about 25 minutes outside Marrakech. Through a door in the wall we entered across a little front garden with a fountain playing and past a shady seating area and were welcomed by the charming housekeeper Soumia who showed us around - an imposing central lounge with a terrace leading on to the garden with its own heated swimming pool, and three large bedrooms, all beautifully furnished, and with their own WCs and very grand bathrooms. The villa is incredibly light, with floor to ceiling windows on all sides.
We were then treated to mint tea while we waited for our lunch, cooked especially for us by the cook. The food is sumptuous and authentically Moroccan - tagines, cous-cous, Moroccan salads, etc, beautifully prepared and delicately spiced - in huge quantities - and the breakfasts are wonderful.
We used the free shuttle to go in to Marrakech and spent a day wandering round the Souks and the Djeema al Fna - the Marrakshis are welcoming and witty, and we had a load of fun. Omar arranged a car to take us shopping and we enjoyed the slightly bizarre delights of a Moroccan cash and carry!
We spent two wonderful days, looked after discreetly and well by the staff, and were really sad when we had to leave. We would love to come back, for a longer stay next time.
Marrakech is a city in the grip of a delirious imagination. A feverish dream scape of honeycombed alleys and minarets quivering in the moonlight and haunted by the restless creatures of a visionary carnival that has lasted for a thousand years and shows no sign of stopping now. Marrakech is one of the worlds enchanted places where time becomes suspended and, through its open door, you catch a glimpse of the past so rich and so remote and yet so palpable.
The Marrakech Royal Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Morocco, it is constantly being renovated and improved and it also happens to be one of His Majesty King Hassan ll's favorite courses.
It is situated at the feet of the snow-covered Atlas mountains and is embellished by a profusion of cypress, eucalyptus, palm, olive, orange and apricot trees.
It is an 'English style' course with strategically placed bunkers protecting its greens and testing tall trees and palms.
Other Activities: Quad Bike On the Lake (2h) + Lunch
Golf: Riads in Marrakech : The Golf d’Amelkis is the third most important golf course in Marrakech, and is located on km. 12 on the Route de Ouarzazate. The course comprises 27 holes, with a 72 par and a total length of 6.657 meters. It was created by the landscape architect Cabell B. Robinson and is quite probably the most visually striking course in the city.
The round is rather technique, possibly the most technique among the three golf courses in Marrakech, and enjoys numerous bunkers and artificial lakes. There are very few trees along the course, just a few palm trees here and there, but it has a nice atmosphere that seduces and challenges golfers of all levels.
The course is stimulative challenging, quite hilly, dented, with multiple blind starts, pitfalls to be avoided at every hole and 7 lakes judiciously laid out, as well as picturesque bunkers made of crushed red bricks. There are three rounds with a total of 27 holes, although there is a project for an extension of 9 holes, which will result in a total of 36 holes. The Blue round is 3.156 meters long, the Red round 3.141 meters, and the Green round, 3.170 meters.
This course is only 10 minutes from the Villas in Marrakech on the Domaine Akhdar and can be booked directly from your villa and we can arrange private transport, caddy and lunch.
