Special Barbados
Our 2-week trip to Barbados came with its ups and downs but the downs were certainly made up for with local smiles and a laid-back attitude to life.
The villa was perfect for what we needed - value for money, great size and clean, however just make sure Dennis is aware you are coming as our visit had gone amiss. It really didn't matter though, and as long as you go with the same chilled out attitude, you'll have a ball.
Nothing is too much for the locals and the distance to the beach, although not 100 steps but slightly further is full of wildlife including monkeys by day, and tiny tree frogs and bats by night after watching idyllic sunsets on the beach (or pretty good from the veranda)!
Don't expect Sandy Lane standards but hire a mini moke and take a trip around the island to realise Mullins and the West Coast is Bajan paradise perfection.
We took the bus everywhere and relished the experience and sounds of local music blaring out matching a feel-good local spirit. Grab local fish at the market and vegetables etc for amazing salads from the supermarket just a short bus ride away and cook on the BBQ, but be sure to take your balsamic vinegar, olive oil, tea, coffee, sweeteners, marmite and some international alcohol to save breaking the bank and allow you your daily home comforts!
The resident humming birds, dragonflies and geckos join the green monkey family crossing the walls every morning and evening will have you hooked to staying around the pool. So, while not a lap pool, the BBQ area is a great way to save money and live life the Bajan way.
We would not hesitate to return but would also recommend some amazing restaurant visits too like The Cliff, Fish Pot and Mangos.
Enjoy!
