Penrhyn Mawr/Castaways is an 18th Century Welsh longhouse situated in private grounds on the beautiful Island of Anglesey near to the Menai Strait. The property, formally a restaurant, has been tastefully restored and converted into two beautiful holiday Cottages. Both Cottages enjoy all modern conveniences whilst remaining full of character. The Castaways has two bedrooms and sleeps 4 whilst Penrhyn Mawr Cottage, which also sleeps 4, has an upstairs lounge with stunning views across the Menai Strait and the Snowdonia Mountain range down to the Llyn Peninsula. The properties offer high quality accommodation for visitors who enjoy peace and tranquillity; a chance to get away from the madding crowd and relax in this quiet location. The essence of Penrhyn Mawr is one of peace and tranquility. Therefore, Penrhyn Mawr it is better suited to adults, and families with older children, who appreciate a quiet environment. Each property has its own private garden. Beautiful sandy beaches nearby.

Downstairs: Fully fitted cream country kitchen, with gas hob and electric oven, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. The kitchen is very well equipped with cutlery, utensils, crockery, glasses and pans. The kitchen has a dining area with family sized table and chairs. Also downstairs is a spacious sitting room with living flame fire, three piece cream suite, freesat TV and DVD player. Off the kitchen and sitting room is a cloakroom with WC and wash basin. Upstairs: Master bedroom with 5 ft brass bed. Country furniture throughout. Beautiful views across the the Menai Strait to the mountains of Snowdonia. Bedroom 2: Twin 3 ft beds, fitted wardrobe and chest of drawers. Same views as the master bedroom. Small Bedroom 3 - suitable for a 5th person. Modern bathroom with WC, basin, bath with shower facility. The cottage has full central heating and fitted carpets throughout.

The Castaways is a little slice of heaven

As well as the peace and quietthe cottage offers everything that we need and its a joy to come home to each day. After a warm welcome from Clare we quickly settled into the pavce of life and will definitely be looking to return. The nearby beaches are lovely, especially Rhosneigr and Aberfraw.

What can we say that hasn't been said already. The cottage is a little piece of heaven . Thank you for a lovely warm welcome we loved the plate fo muffins ! We are going home refreshed and relaxed and will be looking forward to seeing the Castaways again

The cottage is a total gem, and the owners could not have been more welcoming. Just so very, very nice to arrive and be able to sit and relax straight away with a plate of home made cakes and a pot of tea ...
So good not to have to rush out for that forgotten item for everything we could need was there, and the sofas were comfy, the armchair was a readers delight and the bed was just right ...
We walked in the surrounding countryside admiring our wild companions from pheasant to red kites, we drove to wild beaches with not a soul other than ourselves in sight, we cooked home grown food from the farms nearby, we talked by the fire and listened to the owls ... and we came home rested and refreshed
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Sightseeing, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

This summer we had a wonderful week in Penrhyn Mawr cottage. The cottage was very clean and tidy and really felt like a home from home.
We enjoyed the sunshine in the garden or visited towns, castles or beaches nearby. We especially liked Beaumaris and Penrhyn Castle.
The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
