Southwark Tube and Waterloo Station are less than 5 minutes by foot and the Tate Modern is about a 10 minutes walk. The National Theatre and Southbank center are about 10 minutes away. About The Owner

My wife and I love London, having lived and worked there for 5 years. As a geophysicist, one gets to see the world and London is one of the great cities of course. We live mainly in Arizona now, where our dog, Blue, loves to walk in the cool mornings. But we get back to London for theatre, art, and just walking on the Southbank as often as we can.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2007

Why The Owner chose South Bank and Southwark

This location is in the heart of the city, with a choice of bridges to walk across to the City if you are working or the West End for a show or to Westminster. My favorite run is across the Westminster bridge around Green Park and Buckingham Palace, back down the Mall and across the Hungerford Bridge to home. Running under the chestnut trees is beautiful.

Amazing apartment, Great location, Brilliant views

This apartment was brilliant! It was even better than it looks in the photos.
The views were spectacular and the apartment itself was gorgeous! The rooms were lovely, large and bright with huge floor to ceiling windows (with great block out curtains). The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with basics.
The area was great- easy to walk everywhere and also great transport connections.
The apartment was spotless.
Hannah, the manager, was delightful. All of our dealings with her before we arrived were really easy and then she was really sweet when we arrived an hour late and kept her waiting. She couldn't have been more obliging about it.
All in all, I couldn't fault the apartment or Hannah and we would definitely stay here again when we return to London. Actually I would be really disappointed if it weren't available! We have already recommended the apartment to friends!

Perfect in every way

You're probably looking at the photos and information and wondering whether this apartment is as nice as it seems. In truth, it's even nicer. The apartment is incredibly spacious and comfortable, bright and airy, well-stocked, and spotless. And the magnificent views have to be seen to be fully appreciated. The location is perfect--within walking distance to many tourist attractions, but only a five-minute walk from two tube stops that connect you quickly to anywhere you might want to go in London. Despite this excellent location, the apartment is very quiet. Many restaurants and grocery stores are also within easy walking distance, and there is a small but well-stocked grocery store (Sainsbury's Local) literally across the street from the apartment.

In addition, Hannah was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

We've stayed in many VRBO and Homeaway rentals over the years, but we all agreed that this one was absolutely our favorite. Book it--you won't be disappointed.

Fabulous stay! Book it!

This review is for a different two bedroom apartment in the same building as the penthouse listing and managed by the same operation. We LOVED the location in Southwark! If you stay here - and you should - you will be in easy walking distance to many tourist destinations and to tube or bus - but out of the crazy crowds. The flat was very comfortable with the MBR having room darkening shades and a comfy bed to allow for sleeping in. Even though you are on a lower floor, the street noise is minimal. There is an enormous TV should you want to watch. Having two nice bathrooms and being provided toiletries as if you were staying in a hotel was a bonus. Kitchen equipped to cook your own meals, which will save you a boatload of $$. It was nice to find some staples, such as salt, sugar, etc. Several mini-grocery stores near-by, including Sainsbury's Express just at the corner. Young Vic theatre in spitting distance - you can see it from the balcony; Old Vic in view one block away so if you get tickets, you are about one minute's walk! Several restaurants and coffee shops just around the corner if you don't want to cook. Hannah, who manages bookings, was very responsive.

Beautiful, spacious, safe, close to everything!

Our family of 5 enjoyed a fantastic week exploring London. We were able to pack light because this flat has everything you need. It comfortably sleeps 5. There is a market around the corner as well as many restaurants. It is a short walk to the train or tube station. Our youngest is 8 years old and she was able to keep up with us on this trip because everything to do is a short walk away. We explored the London Eye, walked along the Thames, enjoyed museums and more. The building is very safe and quiet with amazing views! We would absolutely stay here again!

This place is great!

We spent a week here in May 2014. Hannah, the manager, was most helpful. The location is superb....Waterloo Station a 10 minute walk/Southwark Tube a 5 minute walk/Sainsbury's grocery less than a block away (and a new Tesco grocery opening soon less than 5 mins away). The flat has two very nice bedrooms and bathrooms with a washer and tumble dryer (which we needed after 10 days in Wales and Cornwall!). The kitchen is well-equipped and the views are unbeatable. The lounge is quite comfortable, with large screen TV with tons of channels. The area is very nice...within walking distance to many attractions including the Old Vic and the Young Vic theaters. One drawback: it's extremely difficult to eat dinner close by without a reservation due to the after-work crowd and theater goers. Would highly recommend this property.

Amazing family accommodation!

My family (including a 4 year old and a new baby) were so happy to have stayed at this lovely penthouse during our London visit. The location is superb, we walked everywhere - covent garden, southbank, Tate modern, St. Paul's. When we didn't want to walk, we caught the tube at the extremely convenient Southwark Underground. The neighborhood is great, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

The penthouse itself is large and perfect for a young family. The kitchen was stocked and it was so handy to have the laundry in our flat. The decor is modern, and the beds comfortable. The view is superb! Building security is top notch, and there is a lift.

We will definitely stay there again when we are next in London!
