About Laetitia & Roy Evans

We bought our traditional little piece of heaven that is Le Peyruzel in 2004. It had been a dream of ours for many years to some day live in France. We, Roy and I (Letitia) had visited La Belle France many times with our children while they were growing up. Surprisingly we had never stayed in the Perigord Noir. Usually heading for the Med or the Atlantic coast from our home in Scotland. We did occasionally stay inland and we loved the beauty of the French countryside. The diversity of the different departments was truly breathtaking. In 2004 I had retired from the NHS in Scotland and when friends asked if we would join them on a trip to the Lot in France, we really didn't need too much persuasion! Roy and I talked about our life long ambition to 'live the dream' and decided it was finally time, if we were serious, to start looking for somewhere we could call home in France. We arranged many 'appointments to view' properties within a couple of hours drive from Toulouse Airport and so began the most exciting and challenging time of our lives.

Laetitia & Roy Evans purchased this cottage in 2004

MERVEILLEUX

  • 5 of 5

What a delightful place to spend a holiday. The cottage at Le Peyrusel sits at the

top of a hill overlooking the valley below. We had our morning coffee and evening drinks sitting beside the pool admiring the view of Daglan nestled in te valley below- beautiful and peaceful. The cottage is well furnished and has every amenity you need. Roy and Letitia are on hand to give advice on the attractions in the area and there are many!! Children are especially catered for with theme parks, and river activities. My grandchildren had a ball.

Thanks for a lovely stay. We look forward to visiting again.

Summer Bliss!!!

  • 5 of 5

We have been lucky enough to spend our last two summer holidays in this little piece of heaven in the French countryside. Both holidays have been sheer bliss and everything you could possibly wish for from a family holiday in France.

The characterful restored traditional cottage with its lovely landscaped garden and pool has a delightful home from home appeal to it. Additionally you have Roy and Letitia who make every effort to ensure you enjoy your stay with them. Be sure to ask them the directions to the wonderful Boulangerie in Castlenaud! The 15minute drive and queues out the door are worth it. They also recommended some wonderful restaurants and things for us to see and do.

All in all we couldn't recommend Le Peyruzel highly enough. It's the perfect way in which to experience rural France at its very best.

Si Belle

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to Laetitia and Roy for making our family holiday so relaxing, even with the kids! We are really lucky to have found such a wonderful place which is in an idyllic location and of such a high standard. The accommodation is very ‘French’, of a great size and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The pool is amazing and has what can only be described as a ‘million euro’ view across the valley and was certainly a great size for the five of us.

We were lucky to have cracking weather in October and there was still plenty of activities to keep the kids happy in the local area so we did a spot of canoeing on the Dordogne which we all loved. We had hired a car so visited Castelnaud and the Aquarium which both are not too far and well worth exploring.

In all honesty apart from a few day trips out, and as we were only there for a week, we were happy to visit some local markets purchase the most amazing cheeses and wine and sit by the pool.

I really would recommend staying here; Laetitia and Roy are so friendly and were desperate to make our holiday as enjoyable as they could, always asking if there was anything we needed. I even thought at one point I might be cheeky and ask them to babysit, but I’m saving that for our next visit!!

We had a great time and will be back!!!!

FANTASTIQUE

  • 5 of 5

Wow! Le Peyruzel is beautiful. The cottage was so much more than I expected - and I do have fairly high standards. It was spacious, big bedrooms with beautiful white bed and bath linens. The sitting room was large, beautifully furnished and very comfortable .The fully equipped kitchen was a pleasure to cook in. The garden and pool area is fantastic and the views are to die for. Letitia and Roy, as all their other guests state, are wonderful hosts. Always willing to help or offer advice while still being totally unobstrusive. The area around the hilltop hamlet of Le Peyruzel is truly spectacular. So much to see and do and oh so little time!! We will return.

Superb! Does more than it says on the tin.

  • 5 of 5

We meant to write this last year when we came home from our holiday. Unfortunately, we spent so much time looking at our photos and talking about the great time we had, that we forgot. Sorry, Roy and Laetitia.

The Dordogne has everything you need for a superb family holiday and Roy and Laetitia's provide an excellent luxury home as a base from which to visit the many attractions on offer. Everything is close; from the Aquarium du Perigord Noir (the largest in Europe) to Castelnaud with its canons and catapults (or trebuchet as my children informed me!) Local markets providing fresh food and veg and a myriad of other items are on every day in different villages - St Cyprien and Le Bugue a must.

Roy and Laetitia's pool area is safe for children to play and has an enviable view across the valley. An ideal area to relax with some wine and cheese.

Now, I will book for this year!

Lovely location overlooking beautiful Dordogne country side scenery. Letitia and Roy Evans showed us warm and caring hospitality, very helpful with and need or question we had. We had a wonderful time at Le Peyruzel and the entire Dordogne region.

Our charming, traditional Perigordian cottage of honey coloured stone is set in the heart of the area known locally as the Golden Triangle. France's most sought after holiday destination. Our lovingly restored

cottage sits directly opposite the impressive, 13th Century Château du Peyruzel. Listed as a 'Monument Historique'.

Le Peyruzel is perched high on the hills above the pretty village of Daglan where there is a Post Office, Boulangerie, Boucherie and a small super-market. In the award winning restaurant, Le Petit Paris, enjoy a gastronomic feast and sample the superb Bordeaux and Bergerac wines of the region. Cool off in the in the rock pools of the River Coeu which runs through the village or take a short drive to the banks of the Dordogne where you can try canoeing or enjoy a leisurely sail and marvel at the historic Chateaux of Castelnaud and Beynac sitting majestically above the riverbank.

Our newly installed swimming pool with its powerful jet pump is fantastic for cooling off in the summer heat. The traditional 'abri de jardin' is a delightful spot to relax, read a book, have a glass of wine by the pool or simply enjoy the amazing views across the valley.
