Beautiful French Stone Villa with stunning countryside views, just minutes from historical sites and medieval villages. Wonderful heated salt water pool and Jacuzzi hot tub, that's just perfect after a day of sight seeing. Ideal for those seeking relaxation and outdoor activities. We are just 6kms to Les Eyzies and the famous Font de Gaume caves, 6kms to lovely village of St. Cyprien, and 20 mins to the historic village of Sarlat. Inside, the house is full of character and French charm with oak beams and stone fireplaces. There are 2 large comfortable living rooms with TV's (English & French) and DVD players. The kitchen is modern, well equipped, and even includes spices. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. Down stairs there is a 5th bedroom, Queen size, that is very private in it's own seperate wing of the house. It has it's own separate bathroom with a brand new rain shower just installed this year. There is a spacious dining terrace to the back of the house with a huge Weber gas grill. You can relax in the swing in the gorgeous garden, surrounded by mature trees, plants, and beautiful flowers. About Linda Plakiotis

My husband & I are originally from Florida. We moved to France 6 years ago, and are loving every minute of it. This is our 6th season renting The Mulberry Tree Villa as a self catering property. We have a 5 star ranking, and all our guests agree we are the best of the best! If you read our reviews, I am all about making my guests happy, down to the smallest things. We are usually fully booked by the end of each season, so keep an eye on my calendar, I update it daily. We have been very fortunate to have many returning guests year after year, and guests that recommend us to their family, friends, and co-workers which is the highest complement someone can give us. We love inviting people into our home, and helping them experience the sights and sounds of this beautiful and amazing region. So, we welcome you to the Mulberry Tree Villa, and hope that you come join us, and enjoy France!!

Linda Plakiotis purchased this villa in 2009

Why Linda Plakiotis chose Sarlat

Location, location, location!!! All my guests agree we are in the center of paradise. Privacy, peace, and quiet!! Away from it all, but with everything close by. You have a gorgeous villa to relax and enjoy, but within 5 to 20 minutes you can see so many fascinating and historical sites in the Perigord Noir. There is so much to see and do in our area, that you could stay for a month and not see it all. There are beautiful village's and chateaux's to explore; the Dordogne and Vezere rivers offering fishing and canoeing; as well as superb restaurants and shops. There are numerous vineyards of Bergerac for wine enthusiasts and there is a different local market situated in a nearby village or town for every day of the week. This is a wonderful home to enjoy and relax in, has all the amenities you could want, and close to everything. We hope to see you soon!!

A totally delightful experience

  • 5 of 5

Linda and Geoge are dedicated to making your stay spectacular, and they do just that; it's a first class experience all the way. The villa is lovely , with large and comfortable rooms and the best equipped kitchen we have ever had on travel. The swimming pool is beautiful, and the hot tub is so comfy. There were chickens on the property we could help feedwith fresh eggs every day. Linda provides wonderful tour services and information, and has selected some spectacular experiences to recommend. She was helpful at every turn. The villa is in a very quiet area, with nice walks around, but no shops for about 2 miles If you like being in a busy town with many shops and cafes etc. within easy walking distance, this may not be a good match for you. But it is a lovely property near many spectacular attractions, such as Sarlat, the prehistoric caves, and charming towns, so we never neede to travel more than 45 minutes each day. We enjoyed hot air ballooning, canoeing and kayaking, and visits to each of the riverside towns in the area. The morning markets were terrific. We also enjoyed Dimitri's cooking class with a market trip, as well as a dinner that he prepared for us. We highly recommend this property to other visitors. I chose it based on the outstanding reviews of others, and I'm glad to add another outstanding review for this property.

An unforgettable experience imbued with pure magic

  • 5 of 5

My family - six adults and six children stayed at Les Hirondelles ten rewarding days in the beginning of April 2015. Linda, the host was very efficient in helping us through e-mails and telephone conversations prior to our arrival to plan ahead the trip, pin point its details and even decide upon the villa rooms' distribution. We have found the site itself fitting perfectly its "official" description by the hosts. This was a hard core Dordogne Valley Experience due to the strategic spot of the villa and to the hosts', Linda and George, guiding and expertise. The villa is situated in a few minutes' drive in a splendid countryside from the most beautiful historic cities, charming small towns and villages, caves known for their striking prehistoric wall paintings etc. The best that Perigord can offer. The villa is beautiful, inspiring, full of character, spacious, with a large garden in which grow trees of all sorts, plants, and flowers. It conveys a romantic feeling of a farm house (George, the host, offered us every morning fresh eggs laid by the 10 chicken living in the garden…). At the same time it is very well equipped with first class quality accommodations. Imagine cooking collectively products bought in the neighboring village market on the Weber gas grill in the garden and in the high standard well set out kitchen, then enjoying all together the wine and food on the large dining table, and afterwards bathing in the Jacuzzi hut tub under the evening starry sky. Mentioning food - as per Linda's advice we enjoyed the very professional chef Dimitri cooking at home one evening and I highly recommend it as part of the Les Hirondelles hedonistic experience. Dimitri is quick and excellent. The professional well-equipped private gym was a most valuable asset for us and helped us lose weight in spite of all these gargantuan meals. One of the core assets of the place are the perfect hosts: Linda and George, two gentle, warm and lovable people who seem to really love people. They had excellent sightseeing and eating recommendations and had a pivotal role in the success of our stay. We thank them for letting us all share their "little piece of paradise. The only disadvantage of the deal was that it was bound to end and that we had to leave - not without promising ourselves that we will come back since this was one of the most rewarding experiences of our life.

Fabulous visit with history!

  • 5 of 5

Ours was a hopeful return visit to this idyllic setting, and provided an even better vacation the third time around! The property is flawlessly kept, every amenity and device is available and the graciousness of our hosts, George & Linda, could not be surpassed. This delightful setting in the heart of one of the most lovely and interesting areas of France is a must for anyone who wants a fabulous home-base from which to explore the rich history of this region. Accommodations for a large family were handled most graciously. No doubt we will return again!

Very friendly welcome and wonderful facilities

  • 5 of 5

This was our fifth holiday in succession at Les Hirondelles. We have always had wonderful, relaxing stays, with excellent care from our hosts Linda and George. The property is beautifully maintained, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, with superb facilities. The kitchen is equipped to a very high standard and there are plenty of bathrooms for larger groups. The gardens are beautiful and we particularly enjoyed making regular use of the heated pool and the hot tub, with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. The local area is full of interest, history and gastronomic delights. Even though this was our fifth stay, Linda and George were able to suggest new places to visit and local restaurants to sample. A special pleasure each year is a visit from a local chef, Dimitri, who will come to the house to prepare a cordon bleu meal. We cannot recommend this property highly enough and look forward to returning again in 2015.

Way beyond our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

When four friends and I (all youthful 50-somethings) were planning a trip to the Dordogne region of France, we knew that we would be enchanted by this amazingly beautiful area. What we didn't know - but were hoping - was that we could find a place that would accommodate us all comfortably; that would provide a "haven" so-to-speak for us to call home for our weeklong visit. The Mulberry Tree villa all of that and so much more. The house itself was extremely comfy, plenty of room for 5 single adults (we each had our own bedroom!) and the grounds surrounding the villa were just lovely. We spent time around the pool, in the hot tub, took local hikes surrounded by breath-taking scenery, and made sure we patronized local restaurants and cafes that Linda recommended (all were fantastic!). Of course the Dordogne valley, itself, is a magnificent gem ... so many places to see and so much to do. Linda and George were the most helpful, gracious hosts that one can imagine ... we so enjoyed talking with them and getting an "insider's" perspective of the region. We also (like so many who have written reviews) hired Dimitri to cook for us one night ... it was a sumptuous, delightful, absolutely yummy feast of french flavors, aromas and colors! Amazing! Photos don't do this place justice. I highly recommend that you experience the Mulberry Tree Villa for yourselves. All I keep thinking is: WHEN can I schedule my next trip there? Honestly!

Book it !

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week here in late Sept 14 .We were celebrating a "big " birthday and 3 of our adult children and partners converged from Australia and Africa .What a week ! The location and facilities at the villa were superb -5 Star -but the point of difference was the input from the owners Linda and George .They are incredibly good hosts .We had a meeting with them on Day 1 and planned out our week .All of their recommendations were terrific .We did something different every day --markets,castles,caves,canoeing ,gardens then settled in to the pool and spa in the evenings .Linda even organised a magnificent in -house chef to cook us a fabulous meal -a highlight .Dont forget to follow Lindas advice and book the caves when you book the villa -also a highlight !

We have stayed in many holiday rentals over the years but this would have to be the best !

We are within a short driving distance of many fascinating historical sites, such as Les Eyzies and the famous Font de Gaume caves, and the beautiful medieval town of Sarlat. There are stunning villages and Châteaux to explore as well as the Dordogne and Vezere rivers offering fishing, kayaking and canoeing. For wine enthusiasts we are close to the vineyards of the Bergerac area for wine-tasting expeditions and of course there are plenty of superb restaurants to experience the local cuisine. There is also a different local market situated in a nearby village or town for every day of the week. Sarlat throughout the summer has an extensive program of music, arts, night markets, fairs and activities for all ages. The town of Sarlat has a wonderful food market each Wednesday and Saturday. Also Le Bugue offers an organic market on Tuesday and St Cyprien on Sunday. For outdoor activities: cliff climbing, hot air ballooning, zip lining, flying, kayaking, canoeing, cycling, golfing, hiking, and hundreds of châteaux's and caves to explore.
