A delightful country holiday retreat with exclusive private pool and terraces

There are so many plus points for the Orchard Cottage - the location, the views, the large pool, the cottage, the outdoor eating area where we spent most nights. However, to choose a best one, it would have to be the location. It is perfect for anyone who doesn't want to be in some over-crowded resort being hounded by time-share salesman, and away from your stereotypical "Brits abroad". The cottage is set in the picturesque Almerian mountain side with beautifully unspoilt views of the valley, yet it is only a 10 minute drive from the main motorway meaning places such as Almeria, Granada and Murcia are easily accessible. There are plenty of Spanish towns which haven't been spoilt by tourism, and plenty of places to eat and wander through the village/town. However, there are places nearer the coast which have plenty of bars / nightclubs, if that is the what you look for. We spent a week here and it is one of my most memorable holidays (for its positives!) There were more than enough sites to see during the week and although temperatures were high 30's we were safe in the knowledge that we'd be going back to a large private pool. After a hot day in the sun, there's not much that can rival floating in your own pool watching the sun set behind the mountains! And on the lazy days we didn't fancy getting into the car to go somewhere - spending the day by the pool, having a bbq, walking in the local hills isn't such a bad way to spend time either.

Paul and Carol are excellent hosts, very friendly and provided useful information about local restaurants and attractions. They have put a lot of effort into building a small piece of paradise in the Spanish countryside, and it was a pleasure to experience this, if only for a week!

I would recommend it to anyone - so long as it doesn't get too busy that I can't get a booking to go back!!
