About Wawona Lodge

What a better way to beat the desert heat by staying at Wawona Lodge! We stumbled across this property several years ago while preparing for our Polar Express adventure. We enjoy the outdoors and find that vacationing in Williams allows us spend more time outside.

Wawona Lodge purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Wawona Lodge chose Williams

We enjoy the small city of Williams and it's quaint atmosphere. It accommodates all types of visitors; sightseers, shoppers, or those just needing a time to relax and refresh.

What makes this cabin unique

Wawona Lodge is in the heart of the Kaibab National Forest at 7,200 ft. The cabin was built on 7+ private acres without a neighboring property in sight. Most other cabins in the community serve as primary residences. Although tucked away in the pines, guests are still within 5 minutes from downtown Williams for groceries, shopping, and local dining.

Snowfall averages at about 66'' per year and fresh air is always abundant.

Brisk morning walks on quiet cinder rock roads or a warm cup of coffee on the wrap-around deck are great ways to start the morning. You might even catch sight of elk and deer at daybreak or dusk. In the evening, the stars light up the northern Arizona sky. If you listen closely, you'll hear the elk call to each other in the summer and fall months.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I just wanted to let you know firstly that your home is beautiful and perfect for our purpose. Our family has not all been together in 10 years and it was wonderful to have them all there with no distractions. Close to the Grand Canyon. It meant the world to me that we had a home like environment to visit in instead of your average hotel room, so that my children, son's in law, their father and my granddaughter could spend family time together. Thank you so very much.

Great Stay in Williams

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this place, very private and secure. It is quite close to town which is handy and the town of Williams has a number of nice restaurants & bars. We are planning to come back for sure.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at Wawona Lodge. We hope that all of our guests create wonderful memories here and find that the cabin offers the privacy and comfort that they would in their own home. We are blessed to have this cabin in the woods but yet so close to town and great sight seeing adventures. We love hearing that our guests consider returning to Wawona Lodge for another getaway.

Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

We loved Wanona Lodge! We loved that it was on 7 acres and you couldn't see your neighbors. We loved the close proximity to Williams and the Polar Express, which was a magical ride. We loved that it was a true log home. We loved the 2 feet of snow that fell while we were there! Peaceful, beautiful and convenient to the Grand Canyon. Fabulous stay!

Owner's Response: The Polar Express is a favorite destination for many of our guests during the winter season. Williams has perfect weather year round; a little snowfall this winter must have been magical. Williams offers many sightseeing opportunities and we are glad that Wawona Lodge is a relaxing and comfortable resting place for our guests. Please visit us again!

Very nice home for a weekend visit to Williams/Polar Express

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Wawona Lodge. It was very family friendly with games for the kids, bunk beds and plenty of space for everyone. We've stayed in a few VRBO's and have been disappointed at how little stocked the kitchen especially would be in terms of essentials and whatnot, but that was definitely NOT the case here. The owners obviously take good care of the home and do their best to ensure that guests enjoy their time there. The proximity to town is great - only 10 minutes away from everything Williams has to offer, including Bearizona and Polar Express/Grand Canyon Railway. We would definitely consider this house again in the future, possibly even for a summer visit to get out of the heat!

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing such a thorough review of Wawona Lodge. Our goal is to make our cabin feel like home for all of our guests whether its the space, comfort of the beds, or a fully stocked kitchen. Our family style cabin offers relaxing reading areas, porches, and rooms where the family can gather to watch movies, play games, and reconnect with one another. We are blessed to have such a wonderful location; private but close in proximity to Route 66, Bearizona, and the Grand Canyon. Some guests even recommend Sedona, Moon Crater, and Zion National Park if you have a little extra time!

Wonderful Escape in Northern Arizona

  • 5 of 5

We visited Wawona Lodge as part of a vacation trip to Utah and Arizona, and friends from Tucson joined us there. We had a wonderful long weekend, visiting sights such as the Grand Canyon, Bearizona, and Lowell Observatory, and we ambled through the adorable town of Williams in the evenings. The Lodge is absolutely beautiful, and the owners thought of everything we might need -- from games, puzzles, and DVDs to every kitchen accessory you could think of. The house is large and comfortable, and the area is quiet and seems isolated but is just a few minutes' drive to stores, attractions, and highways. We were able to completely relax on the huge deck, in addition to doing some stargazing and wildlife spotting! Our families loved their time at Wawona, and we hope to make a return visit very soon.

Great home base to explore arizona

  • 5 of 5

Williams and Wawona lodge make a great home base to explore this beautiful state: We managed to get to the grand canyon (via the train, awesome!!), the verde river for kayaking with verde adventures and to Sedona during our stay and we even found time for Bearizona with the sweet little cubs. Great restaurants in williams include Crusiers and the Red Raven and the Safeway has everything you can need. The house is beautiful and just as described... very comfortable for our family and it made a peaceful retreat after busy days of exploring. The kids loved seeing deer eating their breakfast in the backyard and the beautiful starry nights. The owners have thought of everything: games, kids movies ample kitchen dishes and pans.... Great stay.
