Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday lodge in Kentucky - LOOK OUT LODGE

Log & Stone Lodge, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps up to 12 guests)

As the owners of Look Out Lodge we take personal pride in making sure each guest has a memorable stay. And our reviews from past guests surely indicate that we are meeting and hopefully, exceeding their expectations. With many of our repeat guests making plans for the 2014 spring and summer vacations, don't miss out on the dates that you, your friends and family are looking for. Call or e-mail us with your questions and about availability. We are quickly getting booked for both spring and summer season so check out our calendar for available dates. We respond to your inquiry within 12-hours or less.

Spring is finally in the air and most of us are looking forward to the warmer weather ahead. Effective, March 1, 2014 the Springs rates are now in effect starting at $375.00 per night for Look Out Lodge which consists of 5 bedroom; 4 1/2 bathrooms; 2 kitchens; great room and dining room on the main floor; a second living room & dining room on the second floor as well as the recreation and game room. For reservations for 8 persons or less we have the ability to rent down to 3 or 4 bedrooms without the additional living space or recreation room. If you have any questions regarding rates, don't hesitate to call or e-mail us.

Lake Cumberland is expected to be at normal pool lake elevation by mid May according to the Corp or Army Engineers posting in March 2014. So the view of the lake from Look Out Lodge will be absolutely stupendous.

In 2013 we re-decorated the first floor game and recreation room and up-dated the flooring with full 18 x 18 tile and accent area rugs. The circular drive way has also been tiled to give it a great formal curb appeal. Most of our return guests have really enjoyed the upgrades and the additions. But if you don't need all 5,000 plus square feet of space, we have the ability to rent down to 3 or 4 bedrooms at a reduced rate. However, this does not include the game and recreation room at those rate. Just e-mail or calls for rates. Please note that we have a limit of 12-guests in total. This includes children.

This is a four story log and stone home which has a total of 5,275 sq. ft. of indoor living space and over 2,800 sq. ft. of wrap around porches on both the 2nd and 3rd floor. There is an additional court yard on the bottom level facing the lake with another private tiled patio with outdoor dining table and four swivel chairs with accessed through the recreation room or by outdoor stairs. The view from this patio is spectacular.

The lodge is fully equipped with more than the average rental property because it is also the owners second home. The fine detail in all of the rooms is spectacular as well as the rich feel of real logs both inside and out. The views of the lake and the surrounding vistas will keep you outside more than inside. Not seen at any other rental cabins, this property has outdoor dining tables and chairs on each of the wrap around porches. There is additional casual seating all around the two decks consisting of rocking chairs and two double seated sliders located on the front porch as your guests arrive. There is also a new double person hammock on a Viking stand that has been a real hit with our guests.

We invite you to see the lodge now by logging on to Look Out Lodge on Lake Cumberland website and see this for yourself at www.LakeCumberlandloghome.com for more information and pictures. It truly is a piece of heaven. Remember that we can taylor your budget needs depending on the number of guests in your party, with a LIMIT OF 12 GUESTS IN TOTAL.

The recreation and game room is very well appointed. This is a 750 square foot room with 12 foot ceiling accented with crown molding throughout and picture windows facing Lake Cumberland. The game room is equipped with a pool table; professional ping pong; 7 foot air hockey table; professional darts; foosball and lounge area with pit group; coffee table with a 42 inch wall mounted LED flat screen 'Smart' TV (WIFI included). Note: The recreation room is only available to a full house rental.

Look Out Lodge was constructed in January of 2007 by the current owners which is a full log home with stone accents on the exterior and a 27 foot tall stone wood burning fireplace in the Great Room. This property is located in a private gated community with paved streets and underground utilities surrounded by woods on one side and Lake Cumberland on the other. Look Out Lodge sits high on a bluff in the back end of a cul-de-sac which overlooks Lake Cumberland on the Wolf Creek section adjacent to where the original Alligator I Marina was located and across from Jabez Beach. This is the only home on this cul-de-sac which gives you complete privacy and seclusion, not to mention unlimited parking. The lodge also has a drive down and circular tiled drive-way and paver designed entrance, giving you a truly beautiful curb side appeal as you or your guests arrive. I promise, you will not be disappointed as you arrive.

We actually live in South Florida, but fell in love with Lake Cumberland, which is why we decided to build this lodge. We just love the changing of the seasons and we come up any time we get a chance. In the morning, just sitting on the deck having coffee and watch the morning fog roll in makes all worth while. Although we do love our winters in south Florida, I still have not gotten use to the cold winters in Kentucky.

Monica Wells purchased this lodge in 2007

We built this custom lodge because of the spectacular views and the security and seclusion in this private gated community. Plus this has one, if not the best, lake views of all the homes lots in this community. Pictures do not do it justice.

Relaxing, walking, biking and just taking it all in. You have a tendency to forget to check the office e-mails or voice messages as you just take it all in. Check out more photos on our personal website. Lakecumberlandloghome.

Outstanding mountain lake-view home

This home more than met our expectations! It had anything & everything you could possibly need or want and was very clean and well taken care of. We were 5 couples for a weekend getaway and despite a full day of rain enjoyed every moment. The owners were great and even managed to get the basketball games our guys were wanting to watch on the cable for us. The space both inside and out was more than we needed..thanks you Monica & Andy for sharing your home with us!

Truly a 5 star rental. The attention to detail has to be commended: quality furniture, towels & linens, full size bar soap (not hotel size), hand soap, laundry & dishwasher soap, nice front loading washer & dryer, firewood, fire starter logs, 2 nice grills, plenty of toilet paper & paper towels, nice appliances, 3 refrigerators, etc... Not your typical rental (where they give you one "starter" supply item for a week stay) Monica, Andy, and their staff truly want you to enjoy your stay, and were available when needed. We had a couple of minor issues, that were handled promptly! One most important thing, the house was spotless, I didn't notice one area that needed extra cleaning! Thanks Hester!! (housekeeper) I would definitly recommend this property, and will consider it in the future! Thanks Monica!

50th Birthday Celebration

  • 5 out of 5
  • Review Submitted: 24-Feb-2014

I am now convinced the pictures, while amazing, doesn't completely depict the beauty of the Look out Lodge. I remember pulling up to the house and began to tear up. My husband opened the door to the Lodge for me to be the first to enter the house. We had 9 adults and three children (ages 9, 11 and 12). The main floor was spacious where we could gather in front of the fireplace or in the dining area. The dining room sat 8 adults with the one adult and three children at the bar. The half bath was located on the main floor and was convenient for the older family members who would have trouble going up and down the stairs to use the bathroom. The kitchen on the main level was open and stocked with everything we needed from a pizza cutter to full cookware. The porch/deck on the main level extended around the entire house. The family gathered most of Saturday on the back deck watching the boats and soaking up the sun. My husband and I took the king bedroom on the main level. While we didn’t use the Jacuzzi tub, the two closets and two sinks along with the shower was most accommodating and comfy. This bedroom has another perk, sharing the two-way fireplace with the living room. Our parents stayed in the two spacious bedrooms upstairs because both rooms had full bathrooms attached. The two queen beds on the level below were a little cool in the evening but were still accommodating. This level also contained a living room, dining room, full bathroom and small, fully stocked kitchen. The bottom level (yes, this house has four floors) is a complete recreation room. The three children lived in this area (when they were not riding their bikes or hiking). In fact, we only saw the children at meal time. In addition to the kitchen being fully stocked, the bathrooms were as well. The Lodge is beautifully decorated with all the amenities one would need. Shortly after we arrive, the property manager stopped to give us a full tour and answer any questions. Monica provided all the details with continuous communication before our arrival. Our guests were arriving late on Friday and I wanted to provide a low-maintenance meal. Monica went above and beyond to help us find a local pizzeria. They even called our first night in the home to answer any questions. I do recommend bringing all the provisions needed as it is a good 30 minutes to a large grocery store, etc. To Monica and Andy, thank you for making my 50th birthday a memorable celebration.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review for us and thanks for being such great house guests and taking good care of our home. We hope your family will return another time, perhaps in warmer weather when you could see some color! Take care................Monica

Could not have found a better place for a family gathering - PERIOD.

It would be almost impossible to overstate how great this fantastic place was for our family gathering. My daughter got high praise for finding it. We gathered 8 adults and 4 children for a rare gathering of my kids and grandchildren (3-9). The location could not be more private since it is the only home built in a gated "neighborhood". That meant we had the run of the street system that wandered through the woods along the ridges. The house itself is phenomenal. It has to be a million dollar property. The interior main floor is very spacious with a dining room that could fit all of the adults plus 2 comfortably. The main floor sitting area was the center of activity for most of the visit, but there are two other inside sitting areas if you want to get off by yourself - one on the next level down, with seating, TV, 2nd smaller kitchen and small dining table, and some more seating in front of a large TV and video game set-up on the lowest level. That area includes a pool table, ping pong table and air-hockey table as well. Oh ... and a nice dartboard set-up. The weather was pretty cold during our post-Christmas visit, so our use of the outside deck areas was somewhat limited. During good weather the multi-level labyrinth of interconnected decks provide almost limitless opportunities for group gatherings or private one-on-one conversations with spectacular views across the valley and lake. We felt that we missed some of the best attributes of the house because the weather wouldn't allow us to just lounge outside for hours. Everything was top notch in terms of quality and clean as a pin. NO COMPROMISES ANYWHERE. The wood floors were a little creaky, but that just added to the charm. There are 10 TVs in the place! We had them on for all of an hour during the multi-day trip because we just enjoyed the conversation time and other things to do ... but they're there if you want to veg. The property manager (Tim) lives close by and kept up with us. The area lost power for an hour one evening & he called right away to check on us. Just added to the adventure, with conversation by the fire. There are no "second place" bedrooms. All are great. Great kitchen & no compromises on the bathrooms either - like a great hotel, but with log walls instead. I'm not sure when we will try to get the family all together again, but if we do, this is where we will come, without even looking for another. No point. 5,200 sq. ft. of 1st class relaxation.

Owner's Response: Hi Lee....thanks for the review. Andy and I regret that the weather was so cold and prevented your family from enjoying the decks and the outdoors. We sincerely hope you can return in the spring or summer some time to enjoy the great outdoors. It was our pleasure hosting your family for the holidays! Take care and stay in touch........Monica

Memorable Christmas/New Years' celebration with all our children

Memorable Christmas/New Years' celebration with all our children

We have nothing but praise for this lovely cabin. Even things that we asked for that weren't there before in the kitchen arrived there for our use before we did! The location is grand. The accommodations were grand. We hardly left the cabin except for food items or batteries for the Christmas toys. It was very good advice to bring your provisions with you but the drives to Russell Springs and Somerset were enjoyable. Lots of great entertainment in the lowest level. Lots of room for everyone of the 12 of us not to feel crowded. Great private community to take walks in. We would not hesitate to rent this cabin again.

This property is located within a gated community with all of the roads paved with underground utilities, it is the perfect place for the kids to ride their bikes without the parents having to constantly supervise them. Since there is little to no traffic within the community and the speed limit is 15 MPH there is little to worry about as they discover the nature and beauty of this community. And it's just perfect for that walk with the family before or after a meal.
