Overview

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday lodge in Jamestown - LOOK-OUT LODGE

Log & Stone Lodge, 5 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps up to 12 guests)

As the owners of Look Out Lodge we take personal pride in making sure each guest has a memorable stay. And our reviews from past guests surely indicate that we are meeting and hopefully, exceeding their expectations. Now with the 2014 season behind us, friends and family are now looking towards booking that perfect vacation home for 2015. So this is a great time of the year to find that perfect retreat. But don't wait to long. The best times get taken early in the year for lake front homes. Should you have any questions about this property, don't hesitate to call or e-mail us. We always respond to your inquiry within 12-hours or less and we love to interact with our future guests to be sure that Look-Out Lodge will accommodate your needs. Last year we added new deck furniture and outdoor dining table and chairs to enjoy the many views over the lake and bluffs.

Lake Cumberland is now at the peak water elevation of 720 feet and is expected to stay there according to the Corp of Army Engineers. So the unobstructed views of the lake from Look-Out Lodge are absolutely stupendous.

Look-Out Lodge has a total of 5 bedrooms; 4 1/2 bathrooms; 2 kitchens; great room and dining room on the main floor (3rd floor); a second living room & dining room on the 2nd floor as well as the recreation and game room on the 1st floor. For reservations for 8 persons or less we have the ability to rent down to 3 or 4 bedrooms without the additional living space or recreation room. Be sure to call or e-mail us about these reduced rates, as they are not published.

In 2013 we re-decorated the first floor game and recreation room and up-dated the flooring with full 18 x 18 tile and accent area rugs. The circular drive way has also been tiled to give it a great formal curb appeal. Most of our returning guests have really enjoyed the upgrades and the additions. But if you don't need all 5,000 + square feet of indoor space, we have the ability to rent down to 3 or 4 bedrooms at a reduced rate. However, this does not include the game and recreation room at those rates. Just e-mail or calls for these rates. Please note that we have a limit of 12-guests in total. This includes ALL children.

This is a four story log and stone home which has a total of 5,275 sq. ft. of indoor living space and over 2,800 sq. ft. of wrap around porches on both the 2nd and 3rd floor. There is an additional court yard on the bottom level facing the lake with another private tiled patio with outdoor dining table and four dining swivel chairs with accessed through the recreation room or by outdoor stairs case. The lake views from this patio are also breath taking.

The lodge is fully equipped with more than the average rental property because it is also the owners second home. The owners have decorated each of the many rooms individually with fine detail to give a unique perspective to this log home. Each year there are new features added to the lodge that repeat house guests will notice. The views of the lake and the surrounding vistas from the lodge will keep you outside more than inside. Not seen at any other rental cabins, this property has outdoor dining tables and chairs on each of the wrap around porches. There is additional casual seating all around the two decks consisting of rocking chairs and two double seated gliders located on the front porch as your guests arrive. We also have a double person hammock on a Viking stand on the main deck that has been a real hit with our guests.

The recreation and game room is very well appointed. This is a 750 square foot room with 12 foot tall ceiling which is accented with 12 inch crown molding throughout and two picture windows facing Lake Cumberland. The game room is equipped with a pool table; professional ping pong; 7 foot air hockey table; professional darts; foosball and lounge area with pit group; coffee table with a 42 inch wall mounted LED flat screen 'Smart' TV (WIFI included). This recreation room leads to the out-door patio area which has a 4 person outdoor dining table and swivel chairs which also faces the lake. Note: The recreation room is only available to a full house rental.

Look Out Lodge was constructed in January of 2007 by the current owners which is a full log home with stone accents on the exterior and a 27 foot tall stone wood burning fireplace in the Great Room. This property is located in a private gated community with paved streets and underground utilities surrounded by woods on one side and Lake Cumberland on the other. Look Out Lodge sits high on a bluff in the back end of a cul-de-sac which overlooks Lake Cumberland on the Wolf Creek section adjacent to where the original Alligator I Marina was located and across from Jabez Beach. This is the only home on this cul-de-sac which gives you complete privacy and seclusion, not to mention unlimited parking. The lodge also has a drive down and circular tiled drive-way and paver designed entrance, giving you a truly beautiful curb side appeal as you or your guests arrive. I promise, you will not be disappointed as you arrive.

We invite you to see the lodge now by logging on to Look Out Lodge on Lake Cumberland website and see this for yourself at www.LakeCumberlandloghome.com for more information and pictures. It truly is a piece of heaven. We are also featured in the Russell County Tourism Board in the 2015 edition. Remember that we can taylor your budget needs depending on the number of guests in your party, with a LIMIT OF 12 GUESTS IN TOTAL including children.

About Monica Wells

We actually live in South Florida, but fell in love with Lake Cumberland, which is why we decided to build this lodge. We just love the changing of the seasons and we come up any time we get a chance. In the morning, just sitting on the deck having coffee and watch the morning fog roll in makes all worth while. Although we do love our winters in south Florida, we still have not gotten use to the winters in Kentucky.

Monica Wells purchased this lodge in 2007

Why Monica Wells chose Jamestown

We built this custom lodge because of the spectacular unobstructed views of the lake and the security and seclusion in this private gated community. Plus this has one, if not the best, lake views of all the homes lots in this community. No need to crane your head to see the lake through the forest. It's right there in front of you. Pictures do not do it justice.

What makes this lodge unique

Relaxing, walking, biking and just taking it all in. You have a tendency to forget to check the office your e-mails as you just take it all in. Check out more photos on our personal website at www.LakeCumberlandLogHome.com.

Relaxing Location with an Incredible View

  • 5 of 5

My family took a few days of Spring Break to visit Look Out Lodge and we were very pleased with the location. The description of the location and the actual house is spot as far as the description on the site and other reviews. The owners and local manager were second to none in their customer service before, during, and after your stay. They really do care that you have a positive experience at their home. The location is secluded with plenty of activities to do in the home to keep three teen and pre-teen boys interest. I expect that we will be back in the near future.

Beautiful secluded home in gated community

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family spent Christmas Week 2014 in this beautiful cabin in the Kentucky mountains. It is very large with 4 floors of living space & expansive mountain & lake views with wrap around porches. We really enjoyed the seclusion & privacy and mostly stayed in for the week (except a few excursions the boys took to play disc golf). I particularly love the completely open floor plan of the main living area. With the fire roaring, I could be in the kitchen while others were playing games at the table or reading by the fireplace or sitting at the long bar, but we were all together. The second floor (downstairs) is its own entire apartment with 2 bedrooms,a bathroom & kitchen & living area - which works great if your group has teenagers or a second family needing some of their own space. The boys also spent a lot of time in the game room playing pool & ping pong & darts, while we girls watched HGTV & laughed at them :)

The owners, Andy & Monica were very helpful, and called to see if there was anything we needed. They have a property manager nearby who is very available if ant problems arise.

As a side note, I originally booked this property thru Flipkey & made a change to my dates, which turned out to be a nightmare. Andy spent hours on the phone resolving the mess they made of my reservation. He went way out if his way to make sure that funds due me were returned. Rent the house, you won't be disappointed - but do it thru VRBO!

Owner's Response: Monica and I are so glad that your family enjoyed their stay at LOL for Christmas and New Years Eve. Hester and her staff do a great job in putting up the Christmas arrangements for this time of the year. But I think they really enjoy it. I sincerely apologize about the mess that FK caused you and your family and your warning should be noted by all that try to book through them. Have wonderful and safe 2015. Your family is always welcome to come back anytime you would like. But go through VRBO. Andy Wells, owner of LOL

Great weekend at LOL

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, the online photos do not give the Lodge fair justice, this place is amazing. located at the end of a private drive, 360 degree beautiful views. Owners Andy and Monica were so helpful with the booking and have lots of easy to follow directions, tips, and advice. Arranged for a property manager for a complimentary walk through to go over TV settings, WiFi, surround sound, thermostats, fireplace tips, and safety things like fire extinguishers, etc. very much needed. Owners were very friendly and even ordered a specific sports channel needed to watch our favorite team play on satellite! If your looking for relaxation, privacy, beautiful views, upgraded technology, and security than LOL is it. Had all the amenities ever needed, security system, clean, and had lots of entertainment. Eventhough the gorgeous lodge entertains itself. We will definitely be back soon.

Fabulous Property & Fantastic Family Retreat!!!! Highest Recommendation!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our family was so excited and fortunate to visit this property for a long MLK weekend! The ages of our party ranged from 13 to 77, and every one of us agreed this was one of the best accommodations that we have ever enjoyed! The views are breathtaking, and the property is private and secluded, your own little estate! The layout and spaces in the cabin are perfect for a family, places to gather together - we ate together, played cards and games, worked puzzles, watched movies & sports - but also room to separate and have peaceful alone time in this beautiful setting. So beautifully appointed, you can tell that this is someone's second home - warm, welcoming and personal; not to mention such good taste in the furnishings and decorations!! We cooked our meals at the lodge - loving TWO well stocked kitchens & multiple fridges - and had plenty of room for all of us to have seated meals!! Although we would have been happy to spend our entire weekend at the Lodge, the owners recommended reservations for a tour at a nearby National Park, Mammoth Cave! Again, so much fun, our entire family loved it! We really can't say enough about this location, this amazing property and these gracious hosts!!! Hope we will have the opportunity to return!!! Thanks so much for everything!!!

Owner's Response: Monica and I are so pleased that you and your family enjoyed your time at Look-Out Lodge. It's always great to hear what guests enjoyed about the property as well as where they visited during their trip. But there is one special thing that guests have never talked about..... "The Man Cave". Seems to be a big hit with the guys but no one speaks of it. I guess it's just a guy thing. Well, we hope you and your family come back again in the not to distant future. Maybe try coming during the warmer seasons where you can get on the lake or visit Cumberland Falls. Safe travels and much thanks for your comments. Andy Wells, owner of LOL

Breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed at Look out Lodge December 2014. The holiday decorated cabin was absolutely beautiful with more than enough space for my family of 12. Plenty of activities for the entire family with a pool table, ping pong, and various board games were available. The rooms were spacious with breathtaking views of Lake Cumberland. The owners/manager went above and beyond to make sure this vacation was as comfortable as possible. Thanks again for sharing your amazing home with us, we will definitely be back.

Amazing Property

  • 5 of 5

We were thrilled to celebrate my Father's 80th birthday at Lookout Lodge. We hosted 21 people for lunch and had plenty of cookware and dishes. Two kitchens made things much easier. 9 spent the night and were perfectly comfortable. The Anderson family will definitely be back!

This property is located within a gated community with paved roads and underground utilities. It's the perfect place for the kids to ride their bikes without the parents having to constantly supervise them. Since there is little, if no traffic within the community and the speed limit is 15 MPH there is little to worry about as they discover nature and the beauty of this community. And it's just perfect for that walk with the family before or after a meal.
