Detached villa with private pool in a tranquil area, set between the town of Tavronitis and the nearby beach. The villa is a modern designed 3-storey house with living quarters and kitchen on the first floor, which offers splendid wide views across the bay to the front and the mountains to the rear. The villa is one of 5 built on a parcel of land on the fringe of the town area. Large L-shaped living area on 1st floor, which is open plan with dining/kitchen facilities. Splendid 180 degrees sea views are offered from the large front balcony where 8 persons can dine comfortably.

There is a 950mm high stone wall and railing enclosure around the pool that is gated with locks and is therefore suitable for families with small children. The pool is 7.5m x 4.0m and is 1.5m at the deep end and 0.5m at the shallow end. The pool has a barbecue area with sun loungers, parasols and open shower. There is lighting around the pool. The 135 m2 rear garden area is mainly paved, but has several citrus trees and a border of Oleander and Honeysuckle plants and provides a secure recreational area away from the pool. The property has been built in accordance with the stringent requirements of the Greek Ministry of Tourism (EOT) and has been issued with Licence No. 1042K123K2972201.

Why Ian Chalmers chose Tavronitis

Following a visit to Western Crete to review locations, I came across this newly built villa near the town of Tavronitis which was also very close to the nearby beach. I liked the fact that the town was open throughout the year and that it also had good links with local roads to nearby Kolymbari, Malame and Platanias. The National Road provides good transport routes to both Chania and Kissamos. Whilst Tavronitis is set in a peaceful area, it is not far to the more vibrant and commercial seaside towns of Platanias and Agia Marina, for those that wish to enjoy water sports, nightlife and other sea-side facilities .

What makes this villa unique

The villa is detached with its own private pool and the beach is just a 5-minute walk away. First floor balcony dining offers a magnificent 180 degrees panoramic view of the sea, stretching from the Rodopou Peninsula in the west across to Chania in the east. Similarly, views of the white mountains can be enjoyed from the rear first floor balcony.

Tavronitis provides most requirements for tourists at their mini markets, bakery, butcher and pharmacy. There are also regular air-conditioned buses to both Chania and Kissamos that stop in the centre of Tavronitis. Because of these facilities, it is not essential to hire a car, unless there is a wish to explore the island further afield.

The villa also has central heating for guests wishing to visit Crete off-season.

A Fantastic Week for all the Family.

We stayed at this villa as two families of four. As this villa is split over three levels this really worked with one family on one level and my family on the other. The living area on the top floor was ideal with balconys all round giving great sea and island views. Railings around the swimming pool is well thought out to keep the little ones safe. There are plenty of sunbeds and games for the little ones. Location was good too with just a short walk to the beach or nearby village, ( with enough shops and restaurants ) which the children were capable of. This is a well kept, clean villa with excellent facilities which i would recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Crete. We were all very impressed and are sure to return. Mel & Steve.

A really great week's holiday

The jewel in the crown of this villa is the view from the balcony out to sea, watching the sun go down over a cocktail or a bottle of wine is sublime. The beach and two excellent tavernas are only 5 minutes walk one way and the town of Tavronitis with more restaurants, shops and buses are 10 minutes the other so it really is possible to stay here without a hire car.
Exploring from here is easy as Chania with its beautiful Veneitian harbour is only 15mins by car and a trip to the wild south side of the island takes about an hour.
As far as practicalities go, the villa is very well appointed and clean and the pool is lovely.

A most relaxing holiday!

In my opinion this villa is ideal for family groups, or groups of friends who want to stay in a comfortable, well appointed villa and who prefer a quiet location. Everything you could need is available within a few minutes walk and the taverna on the sea front serves good food in a very welcoming environment. Chania is worth a visit and very easy to get to by bus, or by car.
The pool is kept immaculately clean and plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas are provided. We particularly enjoyed using the barbecue provided.
The 180 degree views from the living room are spectacular, especially at sunset and sunrise having uninterrupted views to the sea.
Whilst there were no children in our party, every attantion has been paid to their safety around the pool area, and the shallw part of the pool is suitable fro young children.
I have no hesitation in recccommending this villa to anyone with the exception of people who find stairs difficult as the livng area is on the top floor.

The area of Tavronitis commands lovely views over the sea and cultivated farmland that stretches towards Kolimbari. Open vistas to the peninsula of Rodopou to the west and Akrotiri to the east contain the sparkling Gulf of Chania. In Tavronitis town there are 2 mini marts, a patisserie, butcher, pharmacy and 3 tavernas that are open all year round. From Tavronitis it is a 4km drive to the port of Kolimbari, where the nearest ATM is located outside the supermarket Carrefour In Kolimbari, there are several restaurants by the harbour which are noted for their fresh sea food. Slightly further is Kissamos where boat trips can be taken in season to Gramvusa and the beautiful blue Balos Beach Lagoon.

The old Venetian port of Chania, with its colour washed facades, shops in narrow alleys and bustling pavement cafes and restaurants is a 25 minute drive away or local bus trip. Must also be seen at night. There are also WW2 areas of interest nearby as the Tavronitis area featured in the Battle of Crete.
