!****SUPERB LOCATION**** - HOLIDAY HOME CLOSE TO BEACH & SHOP'S ****!

Having had an excellent stay at The Coach House during the third week of May , I can strongly recommend this venue for a holiday in the area. The proprietors were extremely straight- forward to deal with , the standard of accommodation is high , the location is very convenient for town , restaurants, supermarket , the Burns experience , and of course for golf. We were a party of 4 enjoying golf on superb local courses , with our appetites whet by the golfing memorabilia contained in The Coach House. We were also blessed with good weather which allowed us to enjoy the lovely garden in the late afternoon. Book this venue with complete confidence.

We've just returned from a lovely week (15 -22 May 2011) at The Coach House in Ayr. The accomodation was ideally located for visiting our family nearby. It is a beautiful home from with a delightful garden, very well equipped kitchen, lovely furnishings and loads of storage in the bedrooms. The area is nice and quiet but only five minutes walk into town or to the beach, Hue and Elizabeth are very warm and welcoming and always available if necessary. We will definately stay here again when visiting our family. Oh and the welcome pack of chocs, shortbread and wine was very welcome - a nice surprise and a lovely touch! Thank you Hue & Elizabeth for kind hospitality.

This spacious property is in a great location and the garden is glorious. The beds are comfortable and the bedding is high quality. However, the option of switching to a lighter summer-weight duvet would have been welcome; the full 13.5 tog downie was too warm for this time of year, even in Scotland. Overall, the Coach House does not attain the level of luxury expected from the description. The absence of items such as soap, bin bags, toilet rolls, shower gel etc was surprising but the owners did quickly provide these items on request. There was no book with information re emergency numbers, nearest supermarket, garage, what to do about bins, where to leave the keys etc etc. Overall standard of cleanliness could have been better and bathroom cleaning materials would have helped. Certain parts of the property would benefit from some TLC. The BBQ is dirty and the 'shed' is in serious disrepair. We believe the owners used to live next door so the standard was probably higher then.
Recommendations for fellow travellers include:
Brig O'Doon restaurant in Alloway provides good food and excellent service at a reasonable price.
The Rozelle Gallery and Estate is a little gem just minutes from the house.
The Burns Museum is well worth a visit.
Take the ferry from Largs to the Isle of Cumbrae followed by the local bus to the lovely little town of Millport.
