Welcome to the Mission Mountains Vacation Rental — a charming second-floor guest suite overlooking some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of western Montana. This is a secluded retreat — yet easily accessible via U.S. Highway 93.
Imagine sipping your morning coffee on your quiet, private deck while watching the sun come up over the glorious Mission Mountains, rising 7000 vertical feet from the valley floor.
During your stay you may just want to rest and take in the peace and beauty of this special place. (As a special benefit, the guest suite sits above a small, private licensed acupuncture clinic, and guests are welcome to schedule a treatment during their stay.)
But if you like activities, we are located in a recreation paradise — the Mission Valley of the Flathead Indian Reservation, in the heart of the Northern Rockies. Right here you will find forty private acres to roam along lovely Marsh Creek, next door to the world-class birding of the Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge. We are just a few miles from the National Bison Range and other vast expanses of public lands and tribal lands (accessible with purchase of a permit). An easy half hour drive brings you to beautiful Flathead Lake, and in 1.5 hours you can reach Glacier National Park. In every direction you'll find hiking or walking on mountain trails, swimming, mountain biking, sailing, kayaking or canoeing, wildlife viewing, and a thousand other kinds of fun and relaxation!
The Mission Mountains Vacation Rental is fully and tastefully furnished, with two bedrooms (3 beds), full bath, full kitchen, living room / dining area, your own private second-floor deck, washer & dryer, TV with DVD player, radio, and WiFi. Stunning views of Mission Mountains, live creek with 40 private acres, great access to outdoor recreation, adjacent to Ninepipes National Wildlife Refuge, short drives to National Bison Range & Flathead Lake.

The most beautiful place in the world!
This is truly a place of great beauty, and also a place of rich and diverse human cultures and history. Ecologically, this is one of the most vibrant areas remaining in the lower 48 states. Virtually every plant and animal that was here when non-Indians first arrived over 200 years ago is still here (including such now-imperiled species as grizzly bears, gray wolves, trumpeter swans, and bull trout). With the Ninepipes National Wildlife Refuge and Owl Research Institute literally next door, and the National Bison Range just a short jaunt down the road, this is a place of great wild abundance. Culturally, this is the homeland of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, and a visit offers guests a chance to learn about their rich and vital cultures, and the complex history that is still present all around us here.
After careful consideration and review, I decided to rent this VRBO in Charlo, MT for 3-nights, to celebrate my 50th Birthday with my wife and two boys, ages 12 and 10. The description and photos and reviews were confirmed upon our arrival. This property has the following elements that we were looking for: 1) spectacular view from the East deck with a Table set for four -- I also came out on this balcony numerous times during our stay to take some pictures and to simply admire the view of the mountains, the willow tree, the cherry tree, and the beautiful landscape between the property and the nearby mountains -- we watched sunsets, moon rises, and stars. Loved it - absolutely loved it -- this property is perfect for this reason alone. 2) wonderful view to the West from the front entrance balcony -- again, photographed and admired sunsets toward the West through the Willows that form the property line -- running between East and West views through this rental home to observe the sunset light. 3) The property itself is clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for our 3-night stay -- we were on a 28-day road trip from NY and this was our endpoint and opportunity to relax in one location for a few days -- we could have easily stayed here a week. 4) Missoula is nearby as is Glacier NP -- we visited both. 5) We also went to the local Amish/Quaker? Cafe in Ronin -- really fresh good food -- recommended. 6) We wanted a remote location to feel the real Montana -- this place has it -- the owners in their nearby residence concealed by trees left us on our own while also offering an opportunity to explore their 40-acre property -- wish we had more time to wander the property -- maybe next time. 7) Most importantly, we needed a place to celebrate my 50th Birthday, have a home-cooked meal or two, relax in a real home, and reset before heading back East -- this VRBO met every expectation and then some. Highly Recommended. We would definitely return to rent this home again. Cheers!!
You want to take a pause beetween Glaicer park and Yellostown, that's the place. Near Missoula, flathead lake, bison range, a lot to do in this area.
The owner will give you nice advice. We swim in a fabulous lake near the rental.
The rental is very, very clean and well furnish. Everything is there. The view is most beautiful than you can imagine.
We stay 3 nights and love it!
My husband and I do a lot of traveling and use VRBO 90% of the time. Mission Mountain rental is exactly how its described and pictured on the website. The property is beautifully maintained, spacious, and has everything you could possibly need. The property is surrounded by the most gorgeous view of the Mission Mountains & valley. Beautiful wildlife to be seen on and around the property. When staying in Charlo you are so conveniently located to Missoula and the gorgeous Flat Head Lake, and the Bison Reserve. I recommend not only Montana to all of our friends, but this vacation rental. We loved staying so much we are looking to return this August if possible. Thank you Tom and Karin for sharing your beautiful home and property - it was one of our best vacations ever!
Last summer 2013, my two sisters and I got to spend a week here. It was like coming home, our little piece of heaven. The peace and beauty made it hard to leave. I have some wonderful memories of our stay. The owners were very helpful and care for their guests comfort. Thank you for your kindness.
My husband, 17 yo son and I stayed here for 2 nights. We had been travelling the US and Canada for 10 weeks and it was so nice to have some space and comforts of home....washing machine and dryer are always a bonus! We visited the National Bison Range twice as we enjoyed it so much and it's in a great location for that. Tom introduced us to a very knowledgeable friend of his before we headed to Yellowstone NP which was really appreciated. We would absolutely recommend this place...the views are gorgeous and we had an amazing summer storm which gave us a fantastic night show! Thanks Karin and Tom
We had such a relaxing stay at this Mission Mountain rental that it was honestly hard to leave! My favorite part was cutting up a bowl of fresh fruit every morning, sitting on the deck, looking out towards the mountains, listening to the birds! Everything was perfect and I wouldn't change a thing. My teenage daughter and I really enjoyed our drive up to the mountain lake, our day discovering Glacier National Park, the "seek and find" fun at the Bison Range, antique shopping and discovering the Flathead Lake area. We both decided we could give up our water views at home in western Washington for the mountain views, vast farm lands and wildlife sanctuaries of MT.
birding, bird-watching, photography, running, trail-running, Native American cultural events, powwows, rodeos, county fairs
