Limoux is a beautiful medieval city, with the longest running Carnival in Europe (January through April)
Enjoy the soothing thermal mineral springs in the spa towns of Rennes-les-Bains and Alet-les-Bains, 20 minutes by car. There is lake swimming at Lac de Cavayere with a sandy beach, boat rentals, and volleyball courts, which is only a 20 minute drive. There is clean, safe, river swimming throughout the area. The Mediterranean is an hour away with it's beautiful beaches, fishing villages, and golf courses.
The hiking and bicycling trips through the winefields and hillsides are outstanding. It is the training area for Olympic, Tours de France, and Professional Cycling teams from many nations. The fishing, swimming and kayaking is terrific throughout the region. The Mediterranean Sea at Narbonne is a little over an hour away, and the Spanish Border 2-hours. The principality of Andora is an hour away, with many notable skiing and winter sports areas.
