When looking for the perfect vacation home for my 60th birthday, I had in mind an upscale, rustic elegant home. This home exceeded my expectations. The home is all wood interior and exterior with huge stained beams and high two story ceiling in great room. Classy, kitchen with granite tops, huge gas stove made making meals a central part of the family activities. The familyroom was spacious yet cozy with warm leather couches and large coffee table perfect for board games (which is one of our family's favorite things to do).
The master suite is stunning! Beautifully decorated with heavily carved wood furniture, unique ceiling fan, rainforest shower and gorgeous slate tile through out the bathroom. I really liked the locking system on the front door, just key in the code to enter, the door locks behind you after a few seconds. this made it easy to come and go without worrying who has keys. The home is located on Barren River Lake with it's own boat dock, so we brought our boat and put in at Beaver Creek ramp, drove the boat to our dock and tied up. It was easy to walk from the back yard to the dock, 200 steps along a wooded path. This portion of the lake is narrow and shallow, but easily navigable, it opens up to the greater part of the lake quickly. My husband fished from the dock while the rest of us explored Mammoth Caves. You could find a less expensive home to rent, but for my "special" occasion, sharing the costs, and cooking all meals, it was worth it. This would be a home I would be proud to stay at with my out of town (San Diego) family. My son in law is a professional photographer and has pics on his web site Rick Lorhe Photography. Thank you, John and Angela for sharing your wonderful home with us! Debbie
