I generally do not write a review but our stay at Casa Valeria and Italy was so amazing I felt compelled to do so. I thought I might not like to stay in a "walled city", but after one night of acclimating to the activity and sounds of the city, we embraced the differences from our US lifestyle. I understand there are some people who live there that have never left the city in their whole life. The apartment was beautiful and we enjoyed the outside Terrace almost every night. It was so romantic to eat up on the Terrace with the sun setting with a view of the whole city. The apartment is close to the wall surrounding the city that people use to walk on. Of course, every morning we walked the wall for exercise and interfaced with the locals. While it was warm outside (August) it was not so hot that it was not enjoyable. it was beautiful inside the residence. One day it did become warm but there were 2 air-conditioning units we turned on and the Apartment cooled down very quickly. We were within walking distance of the train station and the city provided all the food and activity we needed. Each day we visited the specialty shops, such as the bread shop, meat Shoppe, pastry shop, coffee shop, gelato shop, etc. and began feeling like a local (it was even enjoyable trying to communicate. With the Italian's who spoke only Italian). We also took day trips to other areas as we found this location to be perfect for accessibility for our other travels. It was amazing to walk the city every day and get into the people and the sounds of the Italian life. I can still see us drinking our morning coffee and tea on a little table in a square and just people watching. When we tired of walking we went back to the beautiful apartment and enjoyed its amenities. It has a beautiful kitchen so we enjoyed preparing some of our meals there as well. If you are looking for the "Italian experience" and want to stay in a beautiful apartment with great accommodations Casa Valeria should definitely be on your list. We are definitely planning on going back at some point in time.
It is decorated so nicely. Very comfortable and it's location was so convenient to everything.
I look forward to my next trip trip to Lucca.
I would definitely recommend this beautiful place to anyone. Everything was updated but still had the charm of the original architecture. It was clean and convenient to all the great things to see in Lucca. Was so much better than anything else I looked up in the area. I felt like I was at home but still in Italy at the same time. Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Lucca.
This is such a great home - everything one needs for comfort and enjoyment. The proximity to the towns restaurants and shops is perfect as it is to the bus and train transportation. There is nothing else one would need here - like staying in a 5 star hotel without the hefty price tag.
