A lovely house in a peaceful, beautiful location

We stayed at the house at the end of April, and having toured around much of the island, we agreed that we had chosen extremely well by renting this property. The views out to the ocean are amazing, and sitting out on the veranda eating breakfast with the Atlantic right in front of you is a wonderful experience.
Inside the house Edgar and his wife have thought of everything, and pretty much anything you need or might need is provided such as towels, utensils, crockery, flip flops etc. Edgar is a lovely friendly gentleman with a great sense of humour, who went out of this way to help us when we needed a lift to and from the airport.
Arco da Calheta is a lovely village, and in the house nestled on the cliff, you are surrounded by greenery. The houses in the village are very well maintained, with gardens full of bright flowers. The area is so nice and peaceful, you can actually hear yourself think, so if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, I can wholeheartedly recommend this property. We liked it so much we even stayed in to eat our evening meal on a few occasions, out on the veranda. There is also a levada nearby if you feel like a walk.
If you do wish to venture out though, there is a great restaurant called Estalagem Engenho Velho in Arco Da Calheta. Calheta Vila is also nearby, and a bus goes to Funchal from Arco also. All in all this holiday was what we needed and the property was perfect for a week of pure relaxation.
