We currently live in Edinburgh and have done for the past 25 years, however, we grew up in the North East of England. We have 2 children who are now young adults, therefore we are just beginning to enjoy the odd weekend to ourselves, but trying to keep family holidays going for as long as we can!

Amanda Longstaff purchased this apartment in 2008

Perthshire is truly beautiful in all seasons with lots to do for all family members from young to old.

Peaceful, semi rural location, yet close enough to major trunk roads to get travel to other parts of Scotland. Very large 24 hour supermarket just a couple of minutes drive (or 20 minute walk) to apartment. You can walk or cycle into Perth along the River Almond which becomes the River Tay. There are some great restaurants in the area.

Fabulous Apartment

A beautiful apartment in a rural setting but still close enough to the town and shops and within easy reach of Glenshee for the skiing. The apartment is well maintained to a high standard and is spotlessly clean. The owner is very friendly and helpful and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending a stay here.

We would highly recommend staying here. A first class well, maintained, spotless apartment situated in lovely rural surroundings. The owner is very friendly, helpful and makes you feel very welcome. We used this as a base to visit Glenshee, Braemar, Dundee and Perth, all stunning areas of beauty in Scotland. We had a fabulous stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here and are looking forward to returning very soon.
Owner's Response: Many thanks for nice review, we look forward to welcoming you back. Amanda

Charming apartment in a lovely peaceful setting

We were delighted with the apartment. Warm and cosy with loads of space and plenty of comfy places to curl up. Having met some definitely dodgy power showers on the Continent, it was great to find one that gave instant hot water - without a spark in sight. We even managed to get the hang of the electric cooker - always a bit of a challenge for those accustomed to gas.
The apartment was also ideally situated for visiting this beautful part of Scotland. And while we ate out for much of the time, we had reason to be grateful for the nearby Tesco's operating 24/7. Highly recommended.
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your positive comments, we are pleased you enjoyed staying with us. We would be delighted to have you back any time! Kind regards Amanda

A wonderful Christmas in Perth, Scotland

  • 5 out of 5
  • Review Submitted: 27-Feb-2013
  • Date of Stay: Dec 2012
We spent an idyllic Christmas holiday at this beautiful, clean and comfortable apartment. We enjoyed the upside-down layout of bedrooms on the entry floor with stairs leading to the living/dining room and kitchen above. Lots of windows in that room made it a joy to look out to the grounds of Huntingtower Hotel beside us and the adjacent rural setting. The compact U-shaped kitchen was perfect, and being able to close the door to the living/dining room and open the window directly above the sink was nice. The apartment’s carpet and sofa are a little well-worn, but made it seem more like home, perhaps.

One of the many highlights of our week was walking around the neighbourhood on a sunny Christmas day. There is a bus stop nearby for those without cars (like us) but Amanda, the property manager, had kindly redone all kinds of research for us, including research on transportation options. The taxi firm we used that week, Perth Taxis, was superb.

We really enjoyed strolling around the area – coming from a rather large Canadian city, it’s not often that we get to walk past clusters of sheep and make small talk with gentlemen farmers on the side of the road! We easily walked to the historic Huntingtower Castle nearby, although it was closed for the Dec. 26 Boxing Day holiday, unfortunately.

Perth is a great central location. We hopped on and off BritRail, getting to Edinburgh and Stirling, and Perth Taxis ferried us to Dundee and Glamis Castle. All in all, we loved our Scottish home base and highly recommend it to others!
Owner's Response: Many thanks for taking the time to write such a nice review. I'm delighted you enjoyed your holiday in Scotland! Best wishes.

Huntingtowerfield is a lovely rural location approximately three

miles to the west of Perth. There is a lovely riverside walk

along the banks of the River Almond where it meets the River

Tay and onwards through the North Inch Park Lands with its

municipal 18 hole golf course to the City of Perth.

For years people have come to Perthshire for its environmental qualities alone. The fresh air, clear waters, beautiful countryside which changes dramatically with the seasons has made the perfect holiday location for those seeking many and varied outdoor pursuits. For the less active among us it provides places to visit, gardens to enjoy and to just soak in peace and tranquility. When you hear the sound of the wood pigeons cooing in the morning in the silence of the trees, then you will know that everything is alright with the world around you!

Not far from the apartment (about 20 minutes drive) is Crieff Hydro Hotel which provides an abundance of activities which are open to non hotel guests.

Perth has its own concert hall, theatre and museum. You can cycle along the river from the apartment into Perth within 30 minutes. Get your picnic from M&S enjoy in park!

The town centre has many high street shops and a farmers market is held in the town the first Saturday of the month

Other Activities: off road driving

Golf: Perthshire is home to some of the finest inland golf courses in the world and with 40 to choose from … you'll be spoilt for choice.

In additions to which 60 further courses in surrounding Angus, Dundee and the Kingdom of Fife including St. Andrews and Carnoustie, all of which are within one hour's drive.

Ski: Approximately an hours drive from Glenshee ski centre
