A new secluded, grand villa in Whitby
What a wonderful villa, location, ocean view and hospitality! If you are looking for a place in Whitby that’s private and secluded, but yet isn’t too far from the main artery of North Caicos, this is your house. The homeowner, Alpheus, made our venture to North Caicos into an easy journey when it had potential to be quite harried. He offered to set up transportation from the airport to the ferry dock, had our car rental waiting for us when we exited the ferry at North Caicos and was waiting with his truck to assist in hauling luggage to our villa and show us the way. Upon arrival at our villa, a nice welcome letter was awaiting us along with several bottles of wine!. The newly built villa was even nicer than depicted in the photos (numerous windows and openness). Alpheus was always available via the local cell phone he provided or through email via the Wi-Fi hot spot he created. We were the first to stay at this villa, and were hesitant as there were not yet published reviews, on which we normally base our decisions. What a great “chance” we took when we decided on Emerald Estates. It is located approx. 100 feet from the Oceanside, large rocks directly in front of the house. However, you can walk 100 yards to the west and find a serene sandy beach(only 2 other villas share the beach). We snorkeled in front of the house and saw a good variety of fish, lobster, barracuda and some coral. There were better locations for snorkeling (3 Mary’s) but the ability to step off the steps and putter around right in front of the villa was very convenient. The area on North Caicos is remote in that there is only 1 liquor store (it does take credit cards w/4% fee) and various small convenience stores. Our recommendation is to purchase the majority of perishables in Provo before coming over on the ferry (bread, dairy, fruits, and veggies) and supplement with what you can find locally. We enjoyed the locally fresh caught snapper, lobster and also caught and cleaned our own conch in front of the home. Additionally, we advise a car rental as Middle Caicos provided some of the most breath-taking beaches we’ve ever seen along with Daniels Café (must eat the cracked conch). The entire trip was a great adventure and along with the assistance of Alpheus and his great connections with other locals, made it worry and hassle free. Based on 15 years of VRBO rentals, we highly recommend this villa.
Owner's Response: Dear Heidi,
This is just a brief not e to say thank you ever so much for your comments. Please know that a warm welcome awaits you should you decide to visit the Turks and Caicos Islands in the future.
