Bastide Oleander is an 18th century stone house set in secluded grounds of 8 acres with views south across the Provençal countryside. The house has been completely renovated, combining the charm of an old property with all the modern comforts of a new one. Outside it has south facing terraces with a 10m x 5m heated swimming pool and for dining al fresco there's a table under a pergola with a summer kitchen opening onto it. This is a wonderful area for relaxing, eating and enjoying outdoor living. Located in the Var region of Provence, 1 hour between the Mediterranean Sea and the Gorges du Verdon, it offers the perfect location to enjoy a peaceful holiday in an idyllic rural setting, yet its only 5km to Lorgues with its many shops, restaurants and weekly market. The house would suit a family gathering or 2 families sharing a holiday making it an ideal base for exploring all that Provence and the Côte d’Azur has to offer.

JUST WONDERFULL AND CHARMING.

We were gladly surprised by the beautiful setting, the landscape and the house. So lovely and charming, so very nicely decorated and so elegantly furnished. Many charming rooms and very nice bathrooms. Everything was perfect for a lovely holiday.
We saw lots of beautiful butterflies, mantis, wild boar tracks …. enjoyes the figs and the wild rosemary… we really enjoyed the nature. There was a lot of wild boar hunting going on, and it was fun to listen to the dogs with bells in the collars going from one side of the mountain to the other. We swam several times every day in the lovely heated pool, and really enjoyed that as well.

SUPERB VACATION

We, a family of 4 adults and 4 kids, stayed for 3 weeks at the Bastide Oleander in July.
We have been going on holiday to the Provence for years now and know Lorgues and the surroundings very well. There are so many little villages and things to see, so we certainly recommend the VAR for your holidays.
We have been looking out for years now for a home which is perfect for our holidays and where we would like to return to year after year. We have finally found that home... Bastide Oleander.
The bastide is as beautiful as on the photos, though the greatest room in the house does not show on the website... the grotto/TV room. We all loved that room.
All bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully furnished and decorated, as well as the rest of the house. The kitchen is well equiped and has everything you need for cooking.
The outside of the house is great. The covered and non-covered terraces each have their charm and are big enough for a big family.
The view and quiet surroundings from the house are magnificent. At least you do not disturb your neighbours when you have 4 kids screaming in the swimming pool.
Although they say that you do not need a heated pool during the summer months, we have discovered now that it is great to have one.
Last but not least, and to us the most important factor... the bastide is super clean. The team in charge of this is friendly and helpfull and they take good care of the bastide.
Once again, thumbs up for Trikia and Crispin for taking care with so much love for their great home in Lorgues....
We hope to stay at the house very soon.

PERFECT HOUSE

We just returned from a two week stay at Bastide Oleander. It was a wonderful trip, due in great part, to the house itself which was spacious, comfortably accommodating a party of 10 people without ever forfeiting privacy. It is well laid out and has a huge amount of outdoor living space as well. The kitchen is well equipped, all house and local information is meticulously organized, the decor is lovely and the house and it's surroundings are gorgeous. The house is situated 10 minutes from the town of Lorgues. Three and a half of those minutes are driving down a secluded dirt road to the house, which is set deep in the woods. The views are spectacular and there is never any noise. They have a wonderful housekeeper, who is an extremely helpful resource, not only for any issues that might arise during your stay but full of great info on places and activities not to miss. We loved our time at Bastide Oleander and hope to return again!!! You will not be disappointed.

AWAY FROM IT ALL

This was the 9th annual meet-up holiday together by a party of four oap couples and we had a most enjoyable stay at a beautifully-presented property. Just now and again we dragged ourselves out of the delightful solitude - and pool - not only to nearby villages, but also by rail from nearby Les Arcs to Monte Carlo/Monaco (partly coastal railway) and then took courage in our own hands to see the very impressive Gorges du Verdon. St Raphael and St. Maxime resorts not too far away.As advised we did not take low-slung cars on the private route up from the public road. - Rob, Suffolk

WONDERFUL HOUSE & FANTASTIC LOCATION

I have been renting property off Holiday Rentals since 2000, i have had some fantastic lets and no real lemons. Bastide Oleander is without doubt the best property we have stayed in, everything about it is excellent. The location is stunning, the furnishings are superb and the house has everything you need for a relaxing holiday.
Our party was 2 adults and 6 teenage girls, everyone had a fantastic time, whilst the property is secluded, Lorgues is a 5 minute drive and had a great selection of restaurants and supermarkets. Crispin and Trikia told us about a nearby river for swimming, very nice, with a great tree over a deep pool that the kids jumped off for hours.
The photographs on this site do not give a true sense of the location and quality of this property, i have just looked at my own photos and realise that they dont either, absolutely superb and we will return.

BASTIDE OLEANDER: The house is set in 8 acres of olive, oak and pine trees with wonderful views south across its terraced olive grove towards the distant hills of the Massif des Maures. Surrounded by peaceful countryside the property is away from the road, is totally private, secluded and not overlooked. The lower terrace has a 10m x 5m heated swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers around it. For safety it has an electrically operated rigid cover conforming to the French safety laws for children. Surrounding the house there is plenty of space to enjoy, including a boule court, table tennis and lots of old stone terraces to explore. At the back of the house is a large gravelled area with plenty of parking. The house is reached by its own country track which is not suitable for very low slung sports cars.

LORGUES: From Bastide Oleander it is 5km to Lorgues with its pretty squares, fountains and narrow picturesque streets. Located in the heart of the Var department it has all the usual amenities a town offers, with lots of shops, 2 supermarkets and for eating out it has many bars, street cafés and excellent restaurants including the Michelin starred Bruno. Each Tuesday morning there is a large market which is thought of as the best in the area. You can buy clothes, baskets, pottery, sample local produce including cheeses, tapenades, olive oils and choose from hot roasted chickens, hams and paella to take back for lunch.

BEACHES: The beautiful beaches of the French Riviera are easy to reach with the nearest being those around Sainte Maxime and Frejus, both taking about 40 minutes to reach. The famous beaches around St Tropez take just over an hour, or north in 45 minutes is the large unspoilt Lac St Croix with swimming and many water sports on its turquoise water. At the top of the lake is the Gorges du Verdon, known as France's Grand Canyon and you can kayak or pedalo up the mouth of the gorge in the most spectacular scenery.

PLACES: Nearby places well worth visiting include the Abbey du Thoronet, the waterfall at Sillans-la-Cascade, and the many picturesque villages such as Tourtour known as ‘the village in the sky’, Entrecasteaux with its Château, Salernes famous for its pottery, Cotignac and Villecroze to name just a few. Lorgues is in the middle of a wine growing area and there are many wine domains nearby to visit for tasting and buying the excellent Côtes de Provence wines.

ACTIVITIES: There are water parks for the children at Sainte Maxime and Frejus about 40 minutes away, tree top adventure parks within half an hour and there are lots of places for kayaking with the nearest being 10 minutes away on the River Argens. Golf courses are about a 30 minute drive away with St Endreol at La Motte and Barbaroux at Brignoles. At the house there is a file with all attractions in the vicinity.

TRAVEL: To get to the house there are 4 airports convenient for using: Nice (1 hr 10 mins), Toulon-Hyeres (55 mins), Marseille (1 hr 20 mins) and Avignon (1 hr 50 mins). They offer a wide choice of airlines flying from the UK including BA, Flybe, EasyJet, Cityjet, Jet2 and Ryanair. Driving the nearest access/exit to/from the main motorway, the A8 autoroute, is at Le Luc by the Toulon junction (15 mins). By train the station is at Les Arcs/Draguignan (15 mins) and its also a TGV stop.

Additional information about rental rates

To book a 25% deposit of the total is required to secure the dates along with signing our rental contract. It can be paid by bank transfer or sterling cheque. The balance plus a returnable security/damage deposit of £1000 is required 8 weeks before your stay. The security deposit will be refunded in full providing the house is left in good order. Our availability chart is kept up-to-date.
Notes Rental is for a maximum of 10 which includes children. In July & August the minimum rental period is 2 weeks unless there's a week left. Arrival is from 4pm and departure no later than 10am to allow cleaning to take place. Included in the price are all the utilities, the swimming pool heating from 3rd May to 4th October 2014 and a full changeover clean done before and after your stay.

Bastide Oleander is a lovingly restored and renovated stone farmhouse with thick stone walls. Repainted in light colours with distressed beams it is furnished to a high standard with a mixture of antique, shabby chic and French furniture. Along with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, it has a sitting room with a music system with iPod docking and there's Wi-Fi. The snug TV room has a TV with English freeview stations and a DVD player. The kitchen is equipped with everything you should need including an American fridge/freezer, dishwasher, espresso machine, food processor, a table and chairs, and off the kitchen there’s a table in the small dining room to seat 4 to 6. The kitchen leads out into the covered summer kitchen which has another table, sink, sofa and built-in gas barbecue. This in turn leads onto the upper terrace which has a large table under a pergola providing a wonderful spot to eat al fresco. All this makes outside living and dining very easy.
