About Val Metheringham

I purchased the Garden Cottage ten years ago as pied a terre while working for the BBC and it has remained our holiday home ever since. I have rented it with Homeaway ( Holiday rentals ) since 2008. The Terrace Cottage was purchased last year and has just undergone a complete renovation and is being rented for the first time this Spring.

Why Val Metheringham chose Richmond & Kew

The cottages are located in one of the loveliest streets in the area and are surrounded by stunning eighteenth century architecture, including two houses with blue plaques. There is no through traffic and it is just a short walk to the river with lovely riverside walks. A ten minute walk to Richmond Bridge and there is very good public transport. A tranquil setting, but in easy reach of shops, restaurants, theatres and cinemas and only 30 mins into the centre of London.

Perfect cottage!

  • 5 out of 5
This was the perfect cottage for my short stay. Val answered all my questions quickly and offered tips on the best way to get there from the airport. So clean and tidy and comfortable! A park on one side and markets and stores on the other. A short walk to the river, many places to spend the day. Thank you Val for everything I would recommend the lovely cottage to anyone and hope to return myself.

Lovely Holiday Cottage

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed in this lovely holiday cottage in August.

The cottage is Victorian and very pretty, but the interior is bright and modern and had everything we needed for our stay, plus a small secluded roof terrace.

The location is really great, very green and peaceful, but only a ten minute walk to Richmond.

We were worried about parking when we booked, but the owner very kindly sorted out parking permits to enable us to park opposite the cottage, so we could leave the car and use public transport for most of our stay.

Visiting Central London was easy taking the train to Waterloo in under half an hour, but also locally in and around Richmond there was lots to do and see.

We found the guests handbook very useful, full of information on places to visit, plus pubs, restaurants and shops.

We have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Great location and cottage

  • 5 out of 5
The cottage is small but has everything you need. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable bed. Only disadvantage is that loo is downstairs. All the houses in Montpelier Row are very attractive including the cottage. Location is near perfect - close to river, vast parks, buses and trains. You don't need a car to get round which is just as well because there's nowhere close by to park it during the day. This was a slight problem when we had friends visiting us in the day. We stayed 3 weeks overall and would definitely stay there again. Owner is very friendly and welcoming.

Perfect cottage and location

  • 5 out of 5
I was so happy with this pretty cottage on such a beautiful street - I am high maintenance when finding somewhere to stay.

The location is perfect - 8-10 minute walk (max) to St. Margaret's station, two minute walk to buses, including one direct to T5. Great coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Close enough to everything you could need or want in the city but once you're 'home' it feels a million miles away from the noise, hustle and bustle of London Town.

The Cottage is perfectly formed, the owners have done a meticulous job of decorating it, it is very cosy and the roof terrace is such an added bonus which also lets in lots of light. Woke to bird song every morning - the cottage backs directly on to the Park.

The owner was super helpful, friendly and efficient at every stage from booking to deposit refund. Val patiently answered all my questions and gave me really useful information for the trip.

I will always want to stay at the cottage whenever I visit London.

We loved this cottage!

  • 5 out of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the terrace cottage. It was clean and very comfortable. It had everything you would need. A real home away from home. The shops and restaurants are all within walking distance and a lovely park is just behind the cottage. We would wholeheartedly recommend this cottage. The owner was very friendly and returned our security deposit without delay.

LOVELY COTTAGE

  • 5 out of 5
We had a very enjoyable stay in this delightful cottage; everything was newly appointed and spotlessly clean. There was a very pretty roof terrace, which was just perfect for early evening drinks! A really lovely location, with lots of interesting places to visit nearby and easy access into Central London.
