Perfect Berlin City Break Apartment

This apartment proved to the perfect base for our 9 days in Berlin. We felt safe, secure and relaxed throughout. The proximity of the flat to shops, restaurants and the underground system was ideal. Also, its location is near enough for easy walking to many city sights. The apartment itself is spacious, very clean, bright, quiet and very comfortable. Everything you'd need is provided - with some unexpected extras thoughtfully included. During our stay, the weather was hot, so the little balcony and the provision of fans in the bedrooms were much appreciated. The owner was meticulous in his contacts with us and he provided a lot of excellent information which informed our visit. Attractions were too numerous to mention: Berlin is huge and fascinating. We'd include these, however, on an itinerary: the Story of Berlin, the zoo and aquarium, the Sony Centre, the Tiergarten, a R. Spree boat-trip, the Brucke Museum, Potsdam, the Pergamon Museum, Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, the Reichstag (dome), KaDeWe, Hackescher Markt, the Holocaust Memorial, Topography of Terrors... the list is endless: we hope to return. We'd especially praise the transport network: with various kinds of (zoned) tickets available, once you've authenticated your ticket (and you mustn't forget) at the start of its period's use, you simply walk onto platforms: no barriers, no rushing, no crushing - wonderful. Paris and London might learn a thing or two. (And imagine: people carrying bikes onto the underground... Berlin's provision for cycling is genuine.) We walked, too, however, and we used buses, and that way, you see so much more. We ate twice in 'Il Valentino', across from the apartment. It is a delightful restaurant - the staff, kind and considerate; the food, excellent. We were also mightily impressed by the quality and cheapness of 'take-away' food: all the little outlets in the stations are of high quality, as are the stalls in places like Alexanderplatz: try a currywurst from a 'walking grill'. Everywhere we went in the city, we found the Berliners helpful and friendly. One hot lunchtime, we were sitting in the Tiergarten when a smartly-dressed young woman appeared with a tray of tumblers of iced water and simply gave them to us without explanation. As I have said, we'd love to go back (soon) to Berlin, and we'd definitely choose this apartment again. - It couldn't be bettered.
