After visiting the island nearly annually for the past decade and trying out various accommodations, we decided to try this IOB rental and were not disappointed! Being in Kapaa is essential, in our opinion, as it allows for easy access to either "end" of the island, depending on where the sunniest skies may be on a given day! This unit is well-maintained and stocked with beach essentials, including beach chairs and towels. The mini kitchen was well-appointed with all the utensils and serve-ware needed for a comfortable meal "at home". The unit is located in one of the buildings that is further from the ocean, however, still has a nice view from the room and lanai. Considering that rooms on the oceanfront often rent for higher rates, I would recommend NOT spending the extra money and choose this value of a unit. All linens are plush and high quality. As this unit is privately-owned, you avoid the resort fee if you were a guest of the hotel. Although the unit does not have wifi, there is complimentary service in the lobby which is only a quick stroll away in a neighboring building. The property overall is well-maintained, from the grounds to the common areas to the BBQs. The only thing that we would have liked was a curtain that provided more privacy than the sheer one that is there, as the unit is on the first floor and there is always the chance of passers-by peeking in. Otherwise, we were most pleased with our stay and will definitely return next year!
My wife and I decided to hop over to Kauai for a few days on a family trip we were taking to Maui, and we were not disappointed with this rental unit. Located at the Islander on the Beach, we were literally steps away from the beach, and walking distance from many amenities such as the Coconut Marketplace (right across the parking lot! Be sure to check out the farmer's market on Tuesday & Thursday mornings!), as well as several restaurants and shops both right by the Islander and within a few minutes walk of the property. My wife and I also rented scooters to get around and explore Kapaa town as well as the surrounding towns, and this unit made a perfect home base to come back to and relax after our adventures during the day.
Great value for this place!
Somewhat small unit with 2 double beds. More like a hotel room than a than a vacation rental. Clean. Location was good was close to many of the things we wanted to see. Price was good considering it is Hawaii.
One of the things you can control on Kauai is where you stay. The weather can be another story...46 years of some dining time on this island I have learned that. Normally we spend so little time in the room but if you have to this one is worth it. Not big but well appointed. Everything you need and then some. The price is right for this Aston Islander on the Beach property! Thanks Larry.
Oh wow, where do I start. We went to Kauai to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. This condo has a beautiful, quiet beach and is easily accessible with a short walk through the complex. It was clean and equipped with many useful things, i.e. beach chairs, beach towels, and many other items. There is shopping and restaurants within a 5 minute walking distance and the pool and hot tub were close with plenty of lounging chairs and hut/umbrellas to relax under. The onsite laundry facility is also close in proximity of this condo, if needed. The box of chocolate macadamia nuts as a welcome gift was a nice touch and very yummy - went back out and purchased 2 additional bags, one for Kauai and one to bring back home. We were very pleased with the faicility and Larry/owner was really great to work with - we highly recommend staying in this condo.
We stayed for 2 glorious weeks in this lovely condo. The grounds and condo were just as described- well landscaped, quiet and clean. I wasn't too sure about staying in Kapa'a, but now I'm glad we did! It seemed to be central to everything! Since you can't circumnavigate the island, Kapa'a is the perfect half-way mark for the north and south shores. Parking can be tricky if you get back after 7pm- but no worries; just get a temporary tag from the security guard and park at the Coconut Market (walking distance). The beach off the property is NOT suitable for snorkeling, but if you drive a few miles south, there are some great places! The condo has SO MANY STOCKED ITEMS!!! There are beach chairs, beach towels, snorkel gear (you need fins), a boogie board, ironing board w/ iron, hair dryer, table fan, books, a safe and ALL the other items listed on the description. Check out the condo BEFORE you shop! Some people are kind enough to leave coffee, salt and pepper and other things. We donated a 2 qt pitcher :)
This was more than I hoped for! It was great to have a clean place to crash after a long day of sightseeing and exploring.
Mahalo Larry and Debbie for opening your second home to us!
