A good place to stay in St. Petersburg
The apartment was as described, though the building itself was somewhat run down. The elevator was very old and noisy, so we always walked up. Everything was clean and worked well, and our landlady was easily available and very helpful. She spoke only Russian, but her daughter in London was easy to contact and took excellent care of all details. For example, she found a very safe and reliable driver to take us around to some of the more distant sites, as well as to and from the airport.
I would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to explore this beautiful foreign city. Some knowledge of Russian is a major advantage, as few people speak English or French.

Owner's Response: Steve and family,
Thank you for the kind words. It is always special when we receive such positive reviews.
The building itself is on the state heritage historic buildings register. You will have seen the brass plaque outside the main entrance. It was once home to the main architect of St. Petersburg. Although it is a great honour to live and stay in such a historic building. It also means that the common areas and external fascias have to be renovated to exacting and original specifications. The State Heritage Council have undertaken it on themselves to ensure that the restorations are carried out precisely to these specifications. The latest news is that the building is on the program for this year and work is due to commence late 2012.
So when you return to stay with us again next year, you will experience the glorious restoration for yourselves.
It was a pleasure to have you stay with us and you are always welcome.
Best regards,
Nadya
