We have only one neighbor who values the seclusion of the Magical Mojave as much as we do. Therefore large groups and parties are not a match for the Ninja Ranch. If that happens to be what you are looking for we want to welcome you to join us at the Joshua Tree Music Festival (joshuatreemusicfestival.com) twice a year which is an amazing place for all of the above.

Colleen (Chaz) O'Brien purchased this house in 2011
The small town of Joshua Tree has a radically high ratio of lovely, creative folks. The wide open surroundings are inspiring. I had been looking for a place with some space, adjacent to the park. I fell in love with the ranch in a ninja minute.
You can become a certified Ninja!
Our family of four (kids are 7 and 4) stayed at the Ninja Ranch for a long weekend to get away from the city, and to explore the desert and Joshua Tree National Park. We had the best time! The house is welcoming and well-appointed. Upon entering, you feel right at home. The rooms and beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped. We cooked some meals and went in to town to dine out. The house is in a perfect location--neighbors aren't too close and town is near enough to grab a quick bite to eat and to shop. We even walked into the foothills right from the house and had spectacular views of the valley. I would highly recommend to all whether a family looking for some fun or a couple on a weekend getaway!
This was our second visit at Ninja Ranch and we are seriously considering makin it an annual event.
The house is not large which is a bonus for keeping it tidy and clean. Fenced yard was good for dogs. Proximity to the park was great to all who wanted go boulder hopping. So our party of 3 adults and 3 boys ages 9 - 14 could split in groups and everybody got to do something they liked.
Kitchen is supplied with everything a serious cook may desire and we had a great Thanksgiving dinner. Rooms are comfortable, furnished with simple elegance.
Chaz is very responsive and keeps in touch.
During the spring I went to the Ninja Ranch for a weekend escape with my girlfriends.
We fell so in love with the house that we never left until check out. My favorite part of the home is the room with the small door (gotta see it to believe it) that has a skylight in the ceiling. The property is very quiet and has a lot of privacy. All modern amenities are available for your everyday needs. I cant wait to re-visit. If you need a nice get away where you can be at peace or just don't want to be near any neighbors, I totally recommend. And Chaz is an amazing property owner.
Loved the cozy layout and the cool decor! The house befits JT's peaceful and relaxing vibe! The house is well stocked for guests in terms of linens, kitchen items, hair dryer, and basics. I loved the room with the skylight view, and while the unique small door to enter the room was fun at first, I did end up with two good whacks to my head as a result (hence the 4 star rating).
Our three night stay at Ninja Ranch in January was more than my husband and I anticipated making it a 5 star experience. When you come to a desert place, you want comfort as well as what the desert offers -- silence, huge skies, vistas, sun, shadows and even a few critter reminders. Ninja Ranch is our place from now on. We hiked 2 days in the Joshua Tree National Park returning each night to a consummately appointed kitchen -- sharp knives, solid pots, lots of ice in the refrigerator -- for simple meals that extended into evenings of reading, games, DVDs, star gazing and an excellent bed. We could easily have been a party of 6. A few more days and we would have happily hit the Joshua Tree and community food/art spots using the Ninja's ample information about what's-up. Ninja Ranch generously mitigates the realities of the desert while acknowledging its funk and allure -- a perfectly integrated experience.
We loved the Ninja Ranch! It was very clean and well decorated, and located close to Joshua Tree National Park. The owner was always very prompt in responding to any questions, and the directions to and instructions for accessing the property were very clear. I would recommend this rental for anyone looking or peaceful retreat near Joshua Tree National Park. The only disappointment we had was the lack of a fire ring outside- there was a fire barrel, but we never used it.
The property is located: adjacent to the Joshua Tree National Park Boundary; one mile from Indian Cove and directly between the Joshua Tree and 29 Palms park entrances. One neighbor within 150 acres of the Ranch makes it a secluded and quiet experience, but just 1/4 mile off the main thoroughfare of Hwy 62 (29 Palms Highway) makes it incredibly easy access. Incredible sweeping 360 degree views. We do not allow pets to ensure guests and particularly children with allergies have a healthy spot to stay and play.
Amenities include dishwasher, 800sf patio, fire pit, BBQ, games, guitar, 32' TV and DVD player. Towels and sheets provided for the number of guests booked. The rental access includes 3 queen beds in three bedrooms, ample sitting and eating areas. Two bathrooms, one with extra long clawfoot shower over tub. Beautifully appointed with new fixtures and appliances. The perfect place to unplug for a weekend away from it all, and the perfect location to access all The National Park has to offer.
