About Romany Norris, property owner

We've loved the Mountain West since we were introduced to it in the early 1980's and finally moved into the Rocky Mountain Region in 1995. We love to spend time in the National Parks located in the Western US and just generally explore this fabulous area of the country. When we aren't dreaming of being independently wealthy, we are working hard at our jobs to earn 'play' money so we can continue exploring the Western US and beyond. And no, we're not in the Witness Protection Program as some of our friends have suggested we may be when they saw this photo of us. :- )

Romany Norris, property owner purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Romany Norris, property owner chose Columbia Falls

We bought our home near Glacier National Park because it was the quintessential 'cabin in the woods' on a small lake, yet close enough to civilization to give us all the comforts of life we have become accustomed to. The house's proximity to Glacier National Park, Kalispell, Whitefish and Bigfork (Flathead Lake) is fabulous! It's essentially 20 minutes away from everything.

What makes this cabin unique

We have thoroughly enjoyed watching the wildlife from our deck overlooking Duck Lake (moose, bear, beaver, heron, eagles, osprey and, of course, ducks) including the little squirrels and chipmunks around the house, and love the wonderful 'back road' access to Glacier National Park. The house is centrally located to virtually anything one would want to do while visiting the area -- Glacier Park, Flathead Lake, Polebridge, Whitefish & more. Secluded, yet still quite close to everything. Even Glacier International Airport is only about a 20 minute drive from the house!

Guestbook comments from the owner

First of all thank you so much for providing such a awesome vacation rental. I did get my refund and thank you for being so quick.. We had such a relaxing vacation.. I have been telling everyone about your rental and have displayed pics of the lake on my computer at work for all my patients to see.. I cant even remember a vacation where I was so relaxed. Your house is stocked well and we did not need anything else.. We really do hope to return and enjoy even more that Montana has to offer.. hopefully a little later in the year so the road to the sun will be open... Once again thank you so very much for all the restaurant suggestions. Both your suggestions were right on... The [Whitefish] Golf course did not disappoint for our anniversary!!! I am so glad I choose Montana over Hawaii!!!

Best of both worlds

There is no way that we could have dreamt of all we enjoyed at our "home" for two weeks
EVERYTHING was clean and easy to use. We enjoyed GNP 12 of the 14 days and then came back to modern conveniences..Internet,TV(yeah got to keep up with NCIS and our Seminoles😄 The deck was awesome
Our greatest joy was Millie. She helped us put our hiking boots on each morning and greeted us each evening upon our return. She even escorted us on two walks down Lake Drive
We are already planning a return trip
If you aren't sure about doing this cabin don't be Just Do It you won't be disappointed

Heaven in the pines

This was the best VRBO property we have ever rented. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the absolute cleanliness of the place, a big concern for me when I travel. It's spacious, well stocked and just remote enough to give you that wilderness feeling. Within 10 min. You are in town and GNP is a short, pretty drive.
Romany is very helpful, pleasant and our deposit was refunded to us within 24 hours of departure.
We hope to be back soon!

Wonderful cabin in the Glacier National Park area

  • 5 out of 5
The cabin was better than we expected. It was clean and well maintained. The owners went extra lengths to ensure user instructions were posted on all of the switches and appliances. It made it very easy to use everything that we needed. The location is convenient to Glacier, Columbia Falls and Whitefish. We mainly used the local grocery store and cooked our own meals. I think the best part was having Millie, the neighborhood golden retriever, visit in the morning and afternoons. What a charming dog. We did not encounter any problems that required us to contact the owners. Our damage deposit was return promptly after our visit. My wife and I were the only occupants. However, I could see having another couple or our kids join us. Definite thumbs up on this property.

We have found several great places to stay on HomeAway and this "Cabin in the Woods" is no exception. The home is beautifully furnished and decorated and has a wonderful deck overlooking the small lake. After a day of exploring Glacier National Park it was great to sit out on the deck and watch hummingbirds feeding and ducks on the lake. As evenings cooled we enjoyed having fires in the deck's fireplace. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook nice meals. The neighbor's dogs, Rossi and Millie often hung out with us on the deck. They were very well behaved and delightful company - never tried to go into the house when the doors were open. If they visit you and you don't want them around just send them home. It was easy and fast to get to Glacier via the back road directions provided us by the owners.

We highly recommend this vacation home and believe you will not be disappointed if your stay there.

Awesome place to stay

  • 5 out of 5
This cabin is wonderful! Well maintained inside & out and with attention to the minutest detail for our comfort and needs. More importantly, the owners are excellent people, great to deal with. My family and I have gone to Glacier 4 times prior to this trip and this time, we wanted to stay in the NEast side. We made the mistake of renting this place thinking it overlooked Duck Lake -- the one in Babb. And when the owners realized it, they were accommodating and worked with us and even helped us find alternate places to stay since it was less than a month before our trip when we realized our error. We ended up staying at the cabin anyway but cutting our stay by a few days as we had found last minute alternate accommodations in Babb. We do a lot of hiking and for this trip, we wanted to concentrate on the NEastern side, and it is really quite a schlep to stay in this cabin if you want to be in that part of the park most of the time. But that was the deal with us, for this trip. If your needs are different and you want to be in town too (close to Kalispell and Whitefish) and have West Glacier right next door to you, then this cabin would do so much to enhance your vacation, even with the distance to the other side of Glacier. This is truly a great place to stay and I cannot say enough good things about it and the owners.

Very impressive rental. Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 out of 5
This was by far my favorite rental to date. Very up to date, clean and spacious! All the amenities of home. Very close to Glacier National Park, yet a very quiet, relaxing and comfortable home to get away to after a day of hiking, sightseeing and even a helicopter ride. Absolutely loved everything about this rental and wouldn't change a thing. So glad I found this rental instead of renting a condo or hotel room.
