So come be our guests!
I moved to the desert as a single mom to get away from the bustle of city life. My years in the Caribbean and later England lent to the inspirations that helped in the design of my home. The design process was a Mommy and Me project shared with my then 13 year old daughter Bodhi. Bodhi's design ideas allowed for the playful lines that only a child can add and hence the home is called Bodhi's Lake House. My son Zen added the technical supports allowing this home to accommodate future smart house advances. Steno Designs made the elegant graceful flow all possible.
Leah purchased this house in 2005
When we found this lot we knew it would provide the peace and tranquility we were looking for. We designed our home to portray the pristine beauty of the desert we love. The children and I had planned to open it up to guests in the future and now the future is here! Bodhi’s Lake House is A Home Away from Home with all the amenities of an all inclusive resort with out the restrictive schedules and rules. Come be our guests..
As a guest at Bodhi's Lake House there is golf (for 2 guest), kayaks, bikes, tennis, game room and at no extra cost. Since we designed and built this home from the ground up it is unique. There is no other. Come and basque in the desert luxury of Bodhi's Lake House.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed Bodhi's Lake House!!! This is our second time staying here; it doesn't get any better than this. The house has all the amenities you would ever need. Our faily ranges in ages between 20 and 80; there is something for everyone to enjoy. It's amazing to see an 80 year old play pool and ping pong.
It is evident that we love this house, the owner Leah, and all the fun things available; we highly recommend Bodi's Lake House.
My wife and I live in Boston and also have property listed on VRBO. Our two sons live in Los Angeles. We looked for a place to enjoy some family time around the 2014 holidays... and found the ideal location at Bodhi's Lake House. The High Desert is a completely different world from the hustle and bustle of LA County- yet less than two hours away. Everything we needed was at this beautiful large house built directly on the water. A fully stocked kitchen, a spacious living room, several fireplaces, spotless bedrooms and baths, and a fun game room for indoor sports. As an architect, I appreciated the open design and new construction. The house was even decorated for Christmas with several trees along with interior/exterior lighting. Make no mistake- it's better than the photos indicate!
Outdoors we enjoyed relaxing by the pool and in the hot tub. Sun bathing, kayaking, bicycling, hiking, golf, and tennis- all outside the door or within a few minutes of the house. Our original plans were to take a few day trips up to Death Valley or Las Vegas, but we decided to stay put and enjoy this desert oasis in Helendale, CA. Beautiful full moon and spectacular sunrises over the two man made lakes. We had loaded up on groceries before arriving, but also bought a few items at the local market and enjoyed several nights out at nearby restaurants. Very friendly neighbors all around this well maintain desert community. No need to travel far, so we didn't.
Our next trip to Southern California may involve a stay in Los Angeles or San Diego, but we hope to get way from it all again some day at Bodhi's Lake House.
After searching the internet extensively, I decided to book Bodhi Lake house for my parents' 50th anniversary. My parents, my brothers' and my family came together for this special event. There were 8 adults and 7 kids. It was the best vacation I have had in my life.
After exiting I-15, I was wondering if I was heading in the right direction. I expected to see some sort of water or green, but everything was just like a desert.
However, when I got to the property, it felt like I was in a different world. The house was amazing. It was beautiful, clean.
The master bedroom on the second floor has a breath taking view. The kids spent hours having fun in the pool. We also enjoyed the kayaks multiple times a day. The only minor drawback was that there were only 2 paddles while there were 3 kayaks.
At night time, we had a blast with the fire pit right on the deck. The kids also enjoyed the games in the garage.
I am not sure if I am correct, but Bodhi lake house seems to be the only one with a private pool. The private pool really makes Bodhi a special vacation home because we did not have to leave the property at all the during our 3 day stay. Everything was right there. We just swam, got inside to eat, then back out to the pool to swim.
We treasured this wonderful memory for ever.
I always read these reviews when I make my choice so this may seem long but it will be informative.
My partner and I stayed in this beautiful home for a few days as an R&R after a Vegas conference. Although just the two of us, the home can easily sleep 5 couples whereas no one would get in each others way. This home was like a mini retreat because there is so much to do on the property itself from 3-D TC, movies, a game room, and outdoor water activities.
We stayed in the top master room that had a fireplace and very large bathroom with a jetted tub. (There is a window here that overlooks the water.) I managed to set the alarm one early morning and we drank mimosas on the upper deck while watching the sun rise.... it was just remarkable. (Bring your camera!)
All appliances are present and some. The kitchen boasts enough items to have a gourmet meal in the home. The W/D is also a plus. We actually drove to the neighboring town (about 25 mins) to find an actual grocery store however the market located on grounds (in the gas station) is a real little market and has almost the same food a large grocery store would- fresh meats and veggies too. The prices were similar or at most a few cents more. I should have saved gas and time by just shopping there. (Use this advice)
There is a game room in the garage which is equipped with a TV. All items were up to date and clean.
The pool is very clean although in March it was too cold for us to swim in. We did enjoy the hot tub as a good replacement - bring a cocktail. The paddle boat and kayaks were also fun to take out and venture around this manmade lake. You may even get visited by the ducks. The neighbors were really outside and it is a quiet area.
The owner was very good to work with and there were no issues. We even got passes to use the park facilities (gym and golf) for a small fee. She definitely takes pride in her home because it resembles a "model home" in a magazine.
We will definitely be back - with friends this time. The nightly fee was high for just the two of us to do it again but well worth it even if there are only two couples.
We had 4 couples and 6 kids stay at the lake house. (my family calls it "The Lake House") We all loved it!!!! The accommodations were first class!!! The owner was there to answer any questions we had and did a walkthrough at the beginning of our stay. The views from the outside couches at dawn were breathtaking!!! We stayed for a long weekend and I was up at dawn each morning to enjoy the sunrise. Our favorite spot throughout the day was the couches overlooking the pool and lake. We really enjoyed the chairs and fire pit down on the dock as well(Chairs were soooo comfy) The pool and spa were great and easy to use. The kids loved the pool table and the air hockey and the ping pong and the foozball and the pool and the spa and the lake and the kayaks and the peddle boats and the TV's and fishing off the dock ( they caught 4 trout off the dock) As you can tell the kids absolutely loved, loved, loved the place!!!!! The adults did as well!!! The place was soooooo relaxing!!!!! Sooooo many spots to relax and cuddle up with a book or take a nap in the sun :-) Leah was very nice to us and made us feel at home and welcome at all times. She even drove around the community showing us the clubhouse/Pool the market and the restaurants all within a 5 minute drive. We played about 27 holes of golf the one day that we played. I plan on playing 4-5 times when we go back in April. Yup, we loved it so much we booked in April for a whole week!!! Cant wait!!!
Bodhi's Lake house is everything it promises to be. The house is fully equipped with anything and everything you need for any length of stay. Leah thinks of everything. When we arrived the house was beautifully decorated for the holidays with a number of trees throughout the house. We used all the toys; kayaks, peddle boat, fishing poles, pool table, ping pong table, air hockey, and foosball table. Betty helped us with the check in process and was our go to person if and when we needed her.....she was the best! Bodhi's is the place to go. We highly recommend it.
