Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful and cozy cabin! Came with a few friends to celebrate my 29th Birthday. There was more than enough room and the kitchen was fully stocked. Perfect place to get away and fabulous location!

The Knauers

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was great, although mother nature made it impossible to reach the driveway and had to walk up and down the hill all week, but was not the fault of anyone. Just have to keep that in mind if it snows heavily. Very cozy, clean place. It was totally stocked for food preparation! And the bedding was very nice, as was the linens. The only small thing I would say is that the toaster didn't work, and the lighter was broken. The property manager was always accessible to us, Lysa, and was very good at what she did. The housekeepers were very nice as well and brought us our firewood to us in a blizzard. Had a blast!!

Pre-Thanksgiving relaxation in a cute and cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

I brought my two kids (14 and 6) for a little pre holiday break. We all loved it! Cozy and comfortable livingroom and kitchen. A little colder in the bedrooms (but I'm always cold). There is heat (just not central) but quite sufficient for normal warm blooded people. The beds were really comfortable :)

I noticed some other people mentioned a lack of seasonings, trash bags etc. Well, it looks like since then others have contributed to the supply. As far as VRBO homes go, this place was great! Better than any hotel. No washer/dryer so just plan ahead. There is a laundromat a few minutes away if you really really need it.

Tips: Bring your favorite cozy blanket for lounging (there are some regular ones in the closet but not all soft and cozy), bring a few kitchen trash bags just in case, bring specific seasonings you want to use (there is salt and pepper), bring your own toiletries (I saw someone complained about there not being any. Oh come on). Bring lotion!! The water is hard and can sure dry out your skin. Have Fun! The location is minutes away from everything (less than 10 to the lake, the mountain, grocery stores and restaurants. Have fun!

Cozy and clean

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 came here to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. We had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed the whispering squirrel. It was very clean and so cozy. The decor was so cute and the furniture was very nice. The property manager up there was very kind and she had firewood delivered to our door immediately after we arrived. The price was so reasonable and it was such a blessing to not have to hunt firewood down at night in the cold. The only thing I would suggest to have made it better was that the one trash bag wasn't enough for the 4 days we stayed. We had to run out on Thanksgiving day for more so that was a bummer and also we ran out of toilet paper. Other than that is was fantastic and we would definantly stay here again.

Nice cozy place but stripped down

  • 3 of 5

For the price, it was limited. The place is cozy, small, no jacuzzi, and with no backyard to play safely. Super steep driveway, slippery even with no snow. The cabin offers nothing like other cabins I've rented in the past. There no not even sugar! No trash bags. Not even a clean sponge or cleaning products. No pepper, or condiments. There's a grill but no charcoal. They even charge you for wood! No fire starter. No small shampoo and conditioner or even soap. Usually there's coffee and tea and plastic bags and aluminum foil. The bare basics! You as the guests replenish what you finished. Not even oil to cook with. Made it challenging and a waste of money to buy all that stuff for two nights. Really would not rent their again. Took forever to get in touch with them for us to get in. We were outside property waiting for access for 1/2 hour. I texted owner four times and had emailed regarding late checkout, never got a reply. We just left.

Upside we had a great weekend hiking! Nice to getaway.

Btw, awful old sofa. The TV buzz the whole time.

Wish I could say better things but honestly, I've rented places out too many times to know what's decent and expected. Plus, my sister use to rent a cabin in Big Bear. It had everything, not here! Stripped down.

Owner's Response: Gosh, we have never received a 3 star review in our three years of renting out our family cabin.Obviously stings a little when someone refers to your beloved cabin in less than flattering ways, but our goal of this response is simply to separate the accurate information from that which is not, and be respectful of the opinion. Accurate information: -Its true we have no jacuzzi(but if you turn on the water in the bath tub real high and close your eyes it almost feels like you are in one.) -The backyard and drive way are steep for some. The cabin is on the mountain in the trees, not on the valley floor.(Adds to the fun though when it is time to push your buddy down the hill in the snow!) -Unfortunately we do not provide your food or charcoal. The cabin often has various condiments in the cabinets, but are strictly a result of a ‘pay it forward’ vibe that often occurs, but is not required or requested. -Renter waited 30 minutes to get in the cabin. This may happen when a renter arrives unannounced 3 hours before the stated check in time on the rental agreement (as was the case this time). We are super excited to have renters arrive, but our excitement usually does not get us there 3 hours in advance. -Texted owner four times—also true. Unfortunately we received them all simultaneously about 24 hours after the renters left. It turns out that some of the cellular service providers do not have service quite as strong as others. But the good news is we have a ‘land line’ phone in the cabin if you are ever unsure if we are receiving your calls/messages. -TV buzz-this can happen. If it does, turn the volume down on the TV remote and up on the cable remote. Now for the not so accurate information: -We do not ask you to replenish anything in the cabin, all supplies are included. -Sponges and cleaning products-are under the kitchen sink. -Trash bags are in the top drawer to the right of the oven. -Small shampoos/soaps are in the squirrel dish on the cabinet shelf in the bathroom. (I clear out every hotel room bathroom that I stay in during my many nights of business travel each year, and they make their way to the cabin. So good news is you should get some really swanky mini-shampoos on your stay at the cabin). -A starter package of coffee and tea are in the ‘welcome basket’ -Finally the cabin sofa is 3 years old. It is definitely not old, and in our humble opinion not awful. You are supposed to have moose and bears on your sofas in the mountains! Hope this helps!
