CHARMING COTTAGE NEAR CREATION MUSEUM

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Kentucky - The Cottage

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 9-10), Wi-Fi

This cozy cottage was built in the 1800's and recently rehabbed. Quaint but eclectic, this home offers tin ceilings, an exposed brick chimney, original pine floors, art glass windows, and tons of natural light.

The first bedroom has a half bath attached.

The second bedroom is actually a sunroom with a queen-size canopy bed. It has its own sink area, as well as access to the outdoors. Three large skylights welcome the morning sunshine.

Children will love the loft, with its two tented twin beds. Also, there is a queen size sleeper-mattress on the floor for further sleeping, as well as video viewing.

Off the loft is a small screened-in porch that opens onto a 20' x 20' deck.

The kitchen and living room combine to make one large room. Food and fellowship are always a winning combination.

The laundry room is available for your convenience--you'll want to bring your own liquid detergent.

Check-in: 4 pm EST. Check-out: 11 am EST (lock box)

Some guests inquire about the following…

Items provided: Sheets and pillows and blankets, wash cloths and towels for nine, some paper towels, toilet tissue, hairdryer, pots and pans, dishes, coffee maker, crockpot, toaster oven, dish soap and detergent

Items to bring along: Soap and shampoo, liquid laundry detergent (no powder please, clogs up septic system :), extra paper towels, napkins, coffee and filters, foil and cling wrap, baggies, Kleenex, drinking water?...The Cottage is on a well, which is perfectly fine for cooking, laundry and even drinking, but some prefer bottled.

As a flight attendant, I stay in quality hotels almost every week... so cleanliness is very important to me. If you call and my phone is off, I'm probably on the airplane or in Germany--But I will call you back in 1-3 days--or email me, I'm often connected to the internet.

I moved to Petersburg in 1998 for the country setting, which was still only 25 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, and 13 miles from the Cincinnati airport (CVG).

Petersburg has only about 300 residents, not counting the cows at the one end of town. It's not unusual to hear the clop-clop-clop of horses' hooves as they ride down the street.

The first time I drove into town, the winding road reminded me of driving in the Italian Alps. Since I travel for a living, I was delighted to find my own 'Mayberry' with a touch of Italy.

Deborah purchased this cottage in 2003

The vacation home is located one block from the community center, which has a playground available to all, as well as basketball hoops and a ball diamond. There's a small park on the river's edge, as well as access to the river itself for kayaking, fishing, canoeing, etc. Our tiny post office is 2 blocks from the house, and if you like walking, it's exactly one mile around town.

6 miles away is the historic Dinsmore Homestead, and across from Dinsmore is Middle Creek Park (Boone County), which is great for hiking. About 13 miles away is Rabbit Hash, KY, which has a wonderful old general store. (Google any of these attractions for more info.)

Perfect for our family

  • 5 out of 5
This was a great cottage recommended by friends of ours. We loved the fact that we were able to stay in a quiet town just minutes away from the Creation Museum. We would stay there again if the opportunity arises.

Spacious and Peaceful Lodging

  • 5 out of 5
A really neat lodging spot. The Cottage is located in Petersburg, a small town along the Ohio River. Makes for a peaceful stay. The neighborhood is quiet. The house itself is spacious and a great place to rest after a day of Cincinnati area activities. Perfect location for Creation Museum visitors. My interactions with the owner were stellar. Deborah is very accessible, considerate, and a valuable resource in planning a trip.

Excellent Experience

  • 5 out of 5
Deborah's cottage was great! We had 8 people and had loads of room for everyone. Everything was just as listed, the whole experience was simple, and everything was clean and orderly. We enjoyed walking through the town, visiting the Ohio River, and especially going to the Creation Museum. If we plan another trip in the future we would definitely try to book one of Deborah's homes and would encourage anyone else to do so also.

We were blessed to be able to stay at this cottage. The reason for four stars is that it is an older house. (cosmetic issues) The cottage was very clean and we have recommended it to at least six families since our stay just weeks ago. It is close to the Creation Museum. The directions for rental and check-in were very clear and easy to follow. We were two families staying. There is plenty of room. We did not feel crowded. We certainly would stay at this location again. Thanks, Deborah

Lots of room, charm, and convenient to the museum.

  • 5 out of 5
The place was great. My wife and I went down with our 3 daughters, my sister and her husband, and their 3 children. And there was still room to spare, even if only a little. The house is very charming, has lots of character and is well kept. It was very convenient to the Creation Museum which was absolutely top notch and a blast to visit. The floors could'a used a little mopping, but it was raining everyday after all. We all had a great time and the house has a wide open floor plan which does allow sound to carry at night, but it's also super cozy and great if you're looking to have some together time with the family. We cooked all our meals here and had no problem doing so for the whole household. We prefer it over eating out.

Delightfully Charming!!

  • 5 out of 5
We had ten people (3 adult sisters and our kids, ages 2 to 12). This sweet cottage was absolutely perfect!!! Everything was very well thought out - from the drapes around some of the beds to the many kitchen appliances and utensils. The little town was quaint! We enjoyed walking around and seeing the river, the community center a block over, and the little store. It's never easy to tell what the surrounding areas will be like when you rent a house based on a description and a few photos, but everything about this house and town felt completely safe and comfortable. The drive to the house was absolutely beautiful!! We looked forward to driving down the mountain and seeing the incredible views each day after we came home from our adventures. We went to the Creation Museum, which was fantastic, as well as to downtown Cincinnati (Graeter's Ice Cream is a must!!). The kids loved all of our adventures, but they also loved coming 'home' each evening! They made wonderful memories playing in the yard, taking walks, and most of all playing in all the fun spots in the house. We will absolutely be back to stay here, and several friends are also planning on staying at this sweet house as well! A wonderful place for our sister/cousins adventure!!
