Nestled in the quite fishing town of Hau’ula, this rental is the perfect getaway for a couple. This newly remodeled studio, with it’s own private yard and beach has everything you need. It’s a 5 minute drive to the Polynesian Culture Center and a 20 minute drive to the heart of North Shore where the big waves are. But in front our our place is all reef where you can paddle around on our two single person kayaks or snorkel and count the many colorful fish you’ll see.
This is the side of the island for sunrises. Chances are you can take a beach walk in the morning and only see a soul or two.
We are local artists and this is our home. We are not investors from outside the islands. We can give you lots of local tips and help you plan a wonderful vacation. Find out where the best beaches are, spectacular hiking trails to waterfalls, local art and crafts shows, nearest farmer's market to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, the best restaurants where Kama'aina eat.
If you are a fish lover, we have local fishermen who sell their catch of the day direct to our house usually once or twice a week. Samoan crabs (Green crabs), Uhu (Parrot Fish), Kala (Unicorn Fish), Moi (Royal Hawaiian fish) and sometimes fillets of Ahi (Tuna).
There’s lots of local farms nearby selling fresh organic fruits and vegetables, Tiki carvers on the road selling their craft and a world renowned golf course (Turtle Bay Resort) only minutes away.
great place for two to relax and enjoy the weather and beautiful view. Nice outdoor area to hang out. The owner is very nice and accommodating. One of many pluses is a very comfortable bed. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us!
Sheila's studio is amazing and the price is hard to beat. The studio is about 10 steps from the waterfront (literally, I counted). On the beach you can lay in the hammock and watch the sunrise, listen to the ocean, and soak up the sun. Unfortunately, I was super sick while we were there so I didn't get to do much besides lay in the hammock, but it was still fantastic. My husband enjoyed snorkeling right outside the studio. The waters are protected by a reef so even during the winter season when the waves can be rough, you can still swim (although the water might be chilly). We enjoyed fresh fruit from the stand just a few miles down the road and there are plenty of affordable food options (nothing fancy, but very delicious) within a short drive. This is definitely the way to do an affordable vacation in Hawaii. The studio is about a 45 minute drive to the North Shore and an hour drive to Waikiki. We visited both a few times and then enjoyed coming back to the quiet coziness of the studio. The studio is also an easy drive to Shark's Cove which is a cool area to explore and snorkel and Turtle Bay which has a great beach to relax on. Sheila was super friendly and hospitable. We couldn't have asked for anything better. We hope to return!
Great outdoor space. Equipped with everything you could want to be in the water. Inside was nicely done. Sheila was most accessible and helpful.
My husband and I stayed a couple nights at this property and must say it was gorgeous! We were extremely happy to greet the beach from our back yard and relax the day away. Especially handy was the ability to do laundry, use of snorkel gear and kayaks! Thanks Sheila for taking the time to meet us and will be back when time allows! May the year of the "Horse" be a mighty one!
What can I say that's even bad about this place?! Sheila the owner, AMAZING woman, has a beautiful property with friendly local neighbors! We stayed for 9 days and I will never regret booking this place! The pictures don't do it justice! The beautiful humid and balmy mornings overlooking the ocean, unbeatable! The sunny, warm, balmy tropical days are breathtaking! You can literally walk on the beach any hour of the day and it be completely empty! We were on our honeymoon and enjoyed champagne and beer various days with no crowds anywhere to be seen, a real gem in Oahu around Christmas! The kayaking was phenomenal, I kayaked with my spouse and her best friend and had spectacular views. The water is like lake water, a reef 100 yards out protects the giant surf and pipelines coming in (This is the North Shore) so the water is calm enough for even a little child to splash around in! The various aquatic life ranging from sea turtles to monk seals to a rare sighting of a reef shark & tropical fish including eels make it so spectacular & a truly hidden gem. There is snorkeling gear, brand new rafts, kayaks, a beach front hammock (Lay out at night with a pillow and blanket, the sky at night literally is a never ending show of beautiful never ending stars and shooting stars, I even saw 10 shooting stars the day after Christmas...)
To the woman complaining, how could you even gripe? This house is drop dead gorgeous, her dogs are very friendly, all bark and no bite! She goes out of her way to make sure your stay is comfortable! She has a beautiful botanical garden throughout her property with geckos and lizards sunbathing all day. You have a completely private beach in a very quiet side of Oahu for an amazing price! The locals all thought I was a local because of my Caribbean glow, very friendly people and laid back and relaxed. I will definitely stay here again, enjoyed every minute of it, including the amazing table outside that had a built in outlet and would cover us during an unexpected rainshower at night! Don't even think twice and just book it, you wont regret it, the owner is friendly but non intrusive, the property is breathtaking! The sunrises are unbeatable, the ocean is so calm that it even has hues of pink and the sunset looks beautiful coming over the Sea Mountains and when it strikes the jungle, so exotic! Thank you so much Sheila, we loved New Years, that was a memory of a lifetime!
I can't say enough about how lovely it was to stay here. Just a short walk to drink coffee in front of the ocean sunrise every morning was a spectacular experience. The room is basic and small but tastefully decorated and had all we needed as we were out and about each day. Internet service was good. Nice TV in room. Plenty of hangers and drawers for clothing. Only warning would be to those picky about water shower pressure. We found that to be low inside, however the outdoor shower that was also available was stronger.
I have read some complaints about the dogs. We didn't have any issue with them barking at night or early am at all. Sheila was warm and welcoming without being intrusive and made sure we had everything we needed.
Our friends who met up with us after we got there rented the neighbor unit to this one (940836) It is a bit bigger so if you want a little more room I would recommend that one. Sheila fixed the door to that one while we were there and also added a new walkway. It was so much fun to have our friends as neighbors, we sat out in the mornings and evenings by the beach just lounging liked we lived there, not seeing any one else! Fabulous.
I would definitely recommend this property and stay there again.
