About Gini Murphy
My hubby Tex and I had travelled to Darwin for the past 7-8 years always staying at the pet friendly Coolalinga tourist park. We were lucky enough in 2012 to have Dundee Beach pointed out to be a great place! Took a drive, found the ShollyShack on the internet and had a secret squizz after speaking to the owner Yoli. After a 30 second look I booked the place for July 2013, it being pet friendly and safe was definitely a factor. So after our month in 2013, after we'd met a few of the lovely locals and had a the best time ever.
Anyway, on our return to Melbourne I was given 1st option on buying the Shack. The rest is history. We now have to arrange our hols around our guests which is not a bad thing, the bank certainly thinks so! lol

Why Gini Murphy chose Dundee Beach
My bucket list always included owning a piece of Australian coastline.
What makes this cottage unique
The spectacular views, sunsets, locals and general ambience. The improvements I could make and have made already have been much appreciated by our regular guests.

“Yet another relaxing memorable stay”
5 of 5 starsReviewed 11 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014
This is the third time that my family and I (including the spoilt dog) have stayed here and each time we book, we extend the number of days from the last visit.
The new owners have a thorough understanding of what a "beach house" should be.
The bedrooms are comfortable and air conditioned and the addition of a gaming console in the second bedroom kept our teen boys occupied during those times when mum and dad needed their afternoon naps.
The huge undercover area is well set up for all your outdoor needs with the BBQ's and crab cookers being put to good use. Three fridges and a chest freezer meant we could take all the food needed to feed two teen boys and not have to worry about shopping for the whole week we were there. Just remember to take plenty of mozzie coils as the midgies (sand flies) come for happy hour and sunrise, but that'sd life at the beach.
The kitchen is adequate for any inspiring chefs and the ice machine means your afternoon cocktail hours are always cold.
Every afternoon was spent by/in the pool watching the magnificent sunsets and circling birds of prey.
For the week that we were there we had a resident sand goanna, several green tree frogs, geckos, wallaby's, a nightly owl and various cockatoos etc all seen from the pool deck.
The fishing from the beaches and a local creek produced some good blue salmon for the kids to catch and were great in the pan.
4x4 driving down to the Finnis river enabled some good opportunities to see some of the resident "toothy gecko's" (AKA Crocks).
During this trip we had the opportunity to mingle with the locals who are more than friendly and after a few polite words will share some of their favourite spots around the area.
This is truly a place to leave your watch in the drawer and just kick back and relax and watch the world go by and just judge the time by watching the tide come and go over the reef out the front. Similarly, fish and adventure to your hearts content, it's all up to you.
Just remember to leave the surrounding area's as you find them or even better take extra rubbish off the beaches and tracks with you.
