"Thank you so much for your hospitality. We had a wonderful time in Bermuda. Your apartment is great and very comfortable.
Thanks for being our wedding photographer
and hosting the reception.
Hope to come back!
My spouse and I stayed at Quarterdeck Cabin for two weeks right after the Christmas holidays and enjoyed every minute. The apartment was very comfortable and the view, beautiful. Robert being away, Barbara was the one to welcome us and was very gracious about it. She drove us around town to show us where everything was and made us feel comfortable right from the start. We traveled by bus and ferry to different places and this proved quite easy. Most days we were just happy to enjoy the peace and quiet by the pool and walk around St-George. When we didn't feel like cooking, we bought cooked meals at Somers grocery store. We ate only once at Wahoo restaurant, where the seafood was excellent. Even on less sunny days, we were never bored, explored several museums, the aquarium, the botanical gardens, and discovered many beautiful sights.
Everything about Quarterdeck was exceptional!!! Robert is a wonderful Host, who aims to please. The photos of this property do not do it justice...beautiful beyond compare. This was our eighth visit to the beautiful Isles of Bermuda, and by far, the loveliest accommodations. Staying in St George, and learning of its history, made for a much richer experience. We certainly got our exercise hiking to and from Town, and the Beaches, and enjoyed every moment of it. Hopefully to return, in the not too distant future, many thanks again, Robert for your generousity. Bambi & Daniel
Quarterdeck Cabin was the perfect base for our Bermuda vacation. We loved the views and the pool, and the apartment was stocked with everything we needed. Being withing walking distance to the market, restaurants, and the harbor in charming St. George's was wonderful. Robert was a gracious host, and we can't wait to return!
We arrived in the dark, so we had to wait until morning to appreciate the wonderful views from the apartment, but the fairy lights around the pool area were enough to enchant us from arrival. Robert was very welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived, giving us hints and tips on things to do and places to go at this time of year. We were a little too late in the year for the ferries to the other end of Bermuda, but did find the buses easy to use, and used the ferry from Hamilton to the Dockyards, which was easy and a nice trip. The small supermarket in town is well stocked for all your self catering needs, and a few basics left in the fridge/cupboards for our arrival which was a nice touch. Robert also dusted off the mountain bikes for our use and we explored a small area locally whcih was fun. Thank you Robert - we can't wait to return one day.
We agree with all the reviews before us that Quarterdeck is a perfect bolthole to enjoy a comfortable & luxurious holiday in Bermuda with every imaginable convenience laid on. The photos and description are all extremely accurate and we have no hesitation in recommending this property. It was our first time self catering but we weren't disappointed and like everyone else we found Robert a perfect host who had thought of everything and was extremely helpful. St. George is a good place to be based and the cabin, whilst up a steep hill so not ideal for everyone, is close to local shops, restaurants and local bus stops. Also taxis to/from the airport only cost around $12-$15 whereas rental properties at other locations would be a lot more. We were impressed how friendly the local people were and felt at home straight away. The buses were reliable & made travelling around the island easy - if using tokens instead of a pass remember to ask for a transfer ticket if your journey requires a change of bus. Visitors from the UK who are members of the National Trust should take their membership cards as these are valid for free entry to all the Bermudan NT properties - Verdmont, Waterville & Tuckers House are all well worth seeking out. Locally we had nice meals at St. Julians Club (open to non-residents) which is closest to Quarterdeck, great fish on the terrace at Wahoos but were disappointed with our visit to the White Horse. Try to make it over to Dockyards for Sunday Brunch at the Frog and Onion to try typical Bermudan fare and if you like Tex-Mex (which we do) head along to the far end of Front Street to Rosa's. To walk some of the nice meals off & see another side to Bermuda we visited some of the nature reserves and our favourites were Stokes Point (sadly we didn't spot any humpback whales) and Paget Marsh - if you like nature they are both worth a visit so don't forget to back your binoculars. Robert - thank you once again for a most enjoyable break.
This was our first trip to Bermuda! We stayed at the Quarterdeck Cabin for 13 days in December! The airport is approximately 3-4 miles away and the cab fare was approximately $15. Robert was there to greet us...he showed us around the cabin, he had a lot of info and pamphlets, etc. It was nice to have a kitchen and a washer/dryer too! Robert also supplied some basic food items... The grounds were beautiful, absolutely stunning views from the pool deck! The bed was comfortable, plenty of space for the two of us, everything worked well and Robert was easily accessible when needed!
Robert's cabin is definitely not for anyone that has walking disabilities as it is located under the main home. He also has a sloped driveway. You also get plenty of exercise walking up and down the steep hill to get to the main road! :)
We did learn that Robert also rents his main home upstairs from the cabin. I didn't see it mentioned in this listing, but look for the other listing if you need extra room...the main home is very spacious, beautiful!
A couple of things to note for any newcomers or those that may be interested...a grocery store was right in town, maybe a 10 minute walk (down the hill to the main road and turn left!). It really helped making our own meals rather than eating out all of the time. Also, you cannot rent cars...there is a Post Office in town, not far away, if you are staying longer than 7 days, I recommend buying a monthly bus pass, which was $55pp...it was $1 less than the 7 day (unlimited use) bus pass and is also valid for the ferries! So just a couple of things that we learned during our stay that I thought that I would pass along!
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Quarterdeck Cabin and would highly recommend it to anyone! Robert was a pleasure to meet also! We will definitely return...
Located in a very private neighbourhood in a garden setting but walking distance to the Town of St. George. Besides exploring the local beaches and quaint streets of the old town a must do is to swim in the caves at Grotto Bay and the Blue Grotto your host can provide info.
