Holt is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at Snæfellsjökull National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano Grábrók, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and taking a walk into the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall. In the evenings you will always come back home to this cozy cottage in Helluskógur and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The lodge was built in a traditional, Icelandic summerhouse way. It is well constructed and insulated. It is warm and cozy all year round with all necessities and comfort. The house has an open kitchen-living room area. In the kitchen there is all the tableware and equipment you need for cooking, baking, and serving a lovely meal. The living room has a great corner sofa and a large flat screen TV . The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable with great quality beds. Free WIFI.

On the large terrace is a nice hot tub that fits up to 6 people, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The terrace is perfect for serving a good meal and relax in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn which is surrounded by a birch forest, ideal for kids to play.

Fantastic summerhouse
Great location near to Borganes but off the main road and secluded in the trees. All the required facilities for a midsummer night with the obligatory hot tub. We will be back perhaps in Winter next time

Lovely property, great location!
Lovely cosy cottage, well equipped kitchen, and very comfortable. It was a perfect base to explore the west of Iceland, although you'd want somewhere a bit closer perhaps if teh we4stern fjords were your focus. It suited us perfectly however.

Wonderful holiday
The cabin is great and easy to find. The owners always answered my emails very quickly and were ready to help with any trouble I had. Everything we needed was there and the hot tub was wonderful - we got to see the northern lights from the hot tub on the 31st which was a magical experience. I would recommend using a 4x4 when going there though, specially if you are not used to driving on snow/ice. I would certainly recommend this cabin for anyone.

A great place for a holiday!
We had a lovely week at the cottage. It is in a really good location - peaceful and relaxing with lovely views but close to amenities and within reach of lots of tourist attractions. We were very lucky with the weather and made good use of the outdoor living space with hot tub and BBQ. There were some beautiful sunsets over the mountains. The cottage was well equipped, clean and comfortable. We appreciated there being basic items such as soap, washing up liquid, coffee filters etc. There were plenty of towels and the drying rack was useful. There were some entertainments provided and we enjoyed playing chess and card games and the teenagers watched a couple of films. They were delighted that there was a good wifi connection too. The owners were friendly, helpful and hospitable, leaving surprise goodies for us to enjoy. The only slight disappointment was that the room upstairs turned out to be just a mezzanine space with low head height and wasn't really a separate room - not great for an older teenager but he managed fine (eye mask needed as the curtain was not a blackout blind like the other bedrooms). The bathroom also needed a bit of attention but the owners were going to sort this out. All in all it was a wonderful cottage which we would recommend as a great place to stay on holiday. Maybe we'll come back again in the winter to see the northern lights! The local town, Borgarnes, had good facilities with two supermarkets, a good coffee shop, petrol stations and a place to buy alcohol. There is lots to see and do but some things are quite a distance - we enjoyed the quiet roads and the amazing views so didn't find driving a problem. On the day we arrived we went to the Blue Lagoon - expensive but worth a visit. We visited Reykjavik, the Snaefellsnes peninsula and Husafell, where we walked up a mountain and had amazing views of the Langjokull glacier. We drove to Pingvellir to explore the 'Golden Circle' via route 52, a gravel road which my husband thought was great fun (4 wheel drive vehicle definitely needed). We went quad biking with Brilliant ATV based at Porisstadir. This was the highlight of the holiday for the teenagers - definitely recommended. We had a wonderful family holiday in Iceland and have lots of happy memories of our week in the cottage - thank you!
