I am Italian and I have been living in this beautiful area for almost 40 years. I know it very well since I have been working in the local tourism industry for 25 years and will be happy to provide you with all the information you may need to have a great vacation! I am not going to be present during your stay but will be available via phone, e-mail or text. I have 2 large dogs and a cat and they lived in the property at times. Please feel free to contact me with any question. Although I am fluent only in English and Italian I will be able to exchange written communications also in German, French, Spanish and Portuguese. I am a nature lover and, if you are too, I can give you suggestions for hikes and excursions around this area. My dogs are my best friends and I understand the importance to share a vacation with them. If you are a responsible dog owner and your pet is well behaved, both of you are going to really enjoy the house!
Thea purchased this house in 1993
My husband and I bought this property 20 years ago and put a lot of work in it to make it spacious and comfortable. His green thumb and artistic nature transformed a yard of gravel and cement in a lush garden with trees, shrubs and flowers everywhere. Although the property is located very close to the city we love the tranquility of this area and the proximity to beaches, forests and mountains. A very relaxing place without crime, noise and pollution.
This is the perfect place to relax and rest after a fun filled day of sightseeing and exploring the magnificent region with all its amenities,
From the moment I had arrived to Thea's home I knew I the right home for my needs. I wanted to spend a week with my older daughter to celebrate her 29th birthday in Mill Valley where she and I had lived for a few years back around 1994 from the Los Angeles area. As you enter through the gate you enter into a whimsical space straight from a country cottage. From the warm feeling of her home and how she has it decorated to the kitchen that is fully equipped to her magical garden in the back I was even more excited about being there. My daughter arrived late in the afternoon with her doggee so I spent my time unpacking, organizing, marketing and enjoying the peacefulness of her backyard. Beyond her yard 'hidden' amongst gorgeous, overgrown plants is the gate to the children's/dog park. What a charming place to run you kids and/or dogs. The pup was in heaven in the park with other fellow canines to play with. The weather was spectacular to 91 degrees one day to the beautiful misty fog that plays on the tops and crevices of the coastal mountain range: THE FINGERS (is what I have always called that fog since I was a child). Thea, herself, I must say, is so nice and so helpful with anything if you are in need of assistance. I highly recommend her home to anyone who wants to feel "at home" while traveling and visiting out beautiful state. Her home is fabb and she is the best!
We stayed in the house for two weeks. The location is great and makes for an easy trip into the SF via the 101. The location also is great to head out on Shoreline Highway to Muir beach or even cruise up to Stinson Beach or Tomales Bay. The gardens in both the front and back of the house are beautiful and provide a great space to spend time outside. The interior of the house is nice and comfortable and with the kitchen having everything you need, it’s easy to just stay in and cook at night and relaxing after hiking in the Marin Headlands. But if you want to head out for the evening great restaurants are only a 10-15 minute drive away in Mill Valley or Sausalito. With our interactions with the host and the comfortable house with everything it had to offer, we felt like we were staying at a close friend’s house rather than a vacation rental. In short we loved staying at the house and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
This is a very nice house with a beautiful garden in a great neighborhood for families with easy access to Sausalito, Muir woods & Stinson beach. It's close to San Francisco especially in light traffic. The owner is very responsive and wants to make guests' stay pleasant. She is easy to work with. I recommend staying in the house.
Great house and beautiful garden in a superb location. Great for getting into SF (20 mins) and very close (but not too close) to the highway straight to Muir Woods or the beach at Tennessee Cove.
Has absolutely everything you need, in particular an incredibly well stocked kitchen. Was great to be able to do some proper cooking!
We loved the beautiful flowers in the garden, the great playground literally at the end of the garden and the warming fire in the lounge on the cold spring mornings before soaking up the sun all afternoon in the garden.
Thea was a superb host - very helpful, communicative and caring. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Marin or Mill Valley. Even though we were moving into our own house nearby we were very sad to move out!
My wife and i have travelled to Mill Valley for years to hike and enjoy the wonderful Northern Cal outdoors. We have stayed at a few Inns and other places but none more comfortable and relaxing than this quiet home in the heart of Mill Valley. Close to absolutely everything this tidy abode was a gourmet's delight, outfitted with a kitchen that had everything. Nine different countertop appliances, Bosch refrigerator, Bosch range, and just every kitchen item you would ever want! Beautiful back yard , complete with a parade of cats, birds, and its own Hippopotamus. Comfy beds, great lighting options, modern windows and even flatscreen TVs when you wanted to depart from nature and just hang out. Definitely returning to this home for an even longer stay.
A great house, a beautiful yard and well equipped kitchen. It's clear that Thea really wants guests to enjoy their time. We were surprised to find a food processor and stand mixer along with every kind of pan or and plate you can think of.
We were the area to visit relatives, so the location was good for us, however location could be closer to town or within walking distance of things to do. It's a great location for hiking and access to the national parks though. Also, there is only one bathroom, which can be a little rough. All in all, the house was a great setting for a wonderful vacation. Definitely recommend.
Quiet family neighborhood near kids/dogs park, walking distance from transportation, surrounded by open-space reserves, parks, and coastal habitats with numerous hiking and biking trails. 5 minutes to downtown Mill Valley, 10 minutes to Sausalito, 15 minutes to Tiburon, 15 minutes to Muir Woods National Park , 25 minutes to downtown San Francisco (traffic permitting) and 25 minutes to Stinson Beach, 45 minutes to Sonoma and Napa Wine Country.
